Faux fur does not break down and making it with the chemicals they use is very bad for the environment. I have firs handed down from my Grandmother and I intend to wear them. We eat meat and if you have ever seen pigs and cattle go to market on hot trucks in the summer. They go to the stock yard. Necks are slit and the poor things aren't dumb. They smell death and know whats coming. Fur now is from farmed animals. But cows aren't cute so no one thinks about them! I will not throw my grandmother's furs in the land fill.
I'm always amazed at how full of items your thrift stores are in Canada. Where I live, the shelves are practically empty and the stuff they do have is pure junk. I do enjoy looking with you and seeing all the wonderful things for sale. Thank you for taking me along.

I’ve been purging some good stuff that no one I know wants. I go to a little church thrift shop- they are so happy to get anything and their prices are like 80 cents, 2 dollars. You do find the nicest stuff, and save so much money buying it that way. I had a friend who spent thousands decorating, and she liked my stuff better, which was all thrifted.

Hi Brooke, You are absolutely right about the prices in the thrift store. I’ve noticed that more frequently they are breaking down the dinnerware sets and charging a great deal for individual pieces. If you want an entire set, you pay more at the thrift store than in the high end stores and most aren’t even antiques. Stay warm. We don’t want you getting sick.

No, I don’t think it has anything to do with stop buying them. It’s a trend right now so when anything’s a trend, the prices go high. It wasn’t a trend prior to a couple years ago, but granny cheeks in and all that so it’s kind of like a shabby chic error for the younger generation, but they are modernizing it. You see a lot of young people Thrifting.
No, you can’t especially when they have them embroidered hand embroidered or needlepoint. Some of them are just stunning not that I need any bud. I have a hard time turning them down.

Resellers are likely the reason thrift shops are getting expensive. Sad for those who truly need to shop thrift. There is a new thrift store in Churchill (south of Barrie) called Julianna's Thrift Shop that has old-school thrift store prices. Can't wait to check it out, if the weather ever cooperates.
I think it’s got a little bit to do with the resale market yes but I think the biggest problem is it’s a trend and it has been for about 2 1/2 three years now it wasn’t a trend before it was considered poverty I’ve been doing it for 45 years
Cute bunny. I have to get out to a thrift store. Our well water was drying up. Thank God they didn't have to drill and were able to drop the pipe another 40 feet. Also glad weather got up into 40 s here in Illinois. They said they don't work in below zero, which we just got out of with wind chill. In our 70 s, don't need this, but we were prepared and grateful it was under 700 when the drilling could have been thousands. Being ill after Christmas set me back, I'm still taking down Christmas decor. Oh well, I'm here . Have a great rest of week.

There’s these little star bowls you can get at Dollar Tree here (they’re $1.25 now) that lots of people use for parties etc. I went to Goodwill the other day, they had it marked $3.99 even with the Dollar Trees store price tag still attached. Yeah, I’ve seen some dollar store stuff, pretty much only attracted to China anyways in those kind of stores and I don’t need dishes. I just like looking at the pretty ones lol I don’t need for anything these days. I just did a huge purge of all my dishes and all my stuff in the pantry felt really good to get rid of it. I did a purge of 25 things and then I did purge of 100 things I didn’t even videotape it because it was too much going on🤷🏼♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️😝

Here in the states they have gone insane with the pricing as well…..I go to SA on Wednesday’s as it’s “senior day” 25% off and still walk out empty handed 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Saw a little vase today was marked $8.99 turned it over and the original price was 3.99….Needless so say it went happily back on the shelf. I’ve been doing OK I have to. You have to look a little harder than you used to have to look for but I’ve been finding some good stuff the last couple weeks but I do understand they they’re gone a little bit crazy but that say it’s really gotta look and sometimes I go and I complain about something when it’s extremely high priced and say this is ridiculous. I speak my mind.

In Florida unemployment only lasts 12 weeks/ Conn. It's 26 wks. Florida has the lowest in all states. It is awful,he is almost ready to retire this year.😢 I went last week & got a sack leather/ black,like new $5.00 was 10.& 6 really nice shirts & shower hooks new/ all for 20. Whole store was 50% off. Here is a funny story. Sunday I went to our local Good will store and it was nearly closing hour. I was looking at shoes and found a simple black flat wrapped together with a rubber band. Had my size, so I scooped them up and paid for them. Come to find out when I got home they were 2 left shoes. Fast forward to today and went back with my receipt to show themmy problem. The clerk said to check for the missing mates to the shoes. I found them. Two rights rubber banded together. Definitely they matched my shoe. So took up to clerk. I was going to give one shoe back but she said i brought two shoes in , I take 2 shoes back. So I now have 2 complete sets of the same shoes. It averaged out to $2.00 for 2 sets instead of one. Moral of story, two wrongs can make 4 right s.😂

I think the clay pig was a garlic holder / keeps it dark w/ ventilation. I have noticed higher prices in thrift stores too! There are some things I will pay for / like oil paintings / fine china etc but for most items overpriced I will pass! I have enough stuff at home but it’s always a fun outing! Good morning Brooke, yesterday I went to Hobby lobby store have you heard about it? It's all over the states, and there is one in Canada The moment I when in there I started thinking about you your ears must have been ringing, lol I had never been in there before I loved it it's a craft store but it has many beautiful stuff.I bought some small paintings that look antique but are new.I also but antique picture frames for my mom and grandma's photos for like $5 bucks and a small bust of a lady for $4 dollars. Everything was 50% off and also saw many bunny rabbits, for Easter. Some beautiful antiques looking items even if they are new. I think it's cheaper than Michael's and more dainty items.I spend like $30 dollars for like 8 items. Like I told you before here in South Florida, we don't have good Thrift stores.They told me Northern Florida, maybe when I visit up North, I will check them out. Have a great week and keep warm. ❤
Yes, I’ve heard of Hobby lobby. We don’t have that here. We do have that here we have Michael’s that’s definitely overpriced. Things are different all over the world. Here in Florida I’ve been seeing ridiculous prices at the thrift stores too. The stuff is donated to them and they mark it up like antique store prices.
Yes, sometimes I wonder if they think they’re an antique store lol you gotta dig a little deep and out to find the deals, but I still seem to find them.

There is a new thrift store in Churchill (south of Barrie) called Julianna's Thrift Shop that has old-school thrift store prices. Can't wait to check it out, if the weather ever cooperates.
I think it’s got a little bit to do with the resale market yes but I think the biggest problem is it’s a trend and it has been for about 2 1/2 three years now it wasn’t a trend before it was considered poverty I’ve been doing it for 45 years

Cute bunny. I have to get out to a thrift store. Our well water was drying up. Thank God they didn't have to drill and were able to drop the pipe another 40 feet. Also glad weather got up into 40 s here in Illinois. They said they don't work in below zero, which we just got out of with wind chill. In our 70 s, don't need this, but we were prepared and grateful it was under 700 when the drilling could have been thousands. Being ill after Christmas set me back, I'm still taking down Christmas decor. Oh well, I'm here . Have a great rest of week.

There’s these little star bowls you can get at Dollar Tree here (they’re $1.25 now) that lots of people use for parties etc. I went to Goodwill the other day, they had it marked $3.99 even with the Dollar Trees store price tag still attached. I laughed so hard. Thanks for taking us thrifting, that salad looked so amazing yum ❤
Yeah, I’ve seen some dollar store stuff, pretty much only attracted to China anyways in those kind of stores and I don’t need dishes. I just like looking at the pretty ones lol
I don’t need for anything these days. I just did a huge purge of all my dishes and all my stuff in the pantry felt really good to get rid of it. I did a purge of 25 things and then I did purge of 100 things I didn’t even videotape it because it was too much going on🤷🏼♀️❤️❤️❤️❤️😝

Yeah, it’s nice out today so I did go out. I’m going up to meet Erin one day this week. I don’t know which day though and I’m meeting up with Candace one day this week so that’ll be a couple outings.

Here in the states they have gone insane with the pricing as well…..I go to SA on Wednesday’s as it’s “senior day” 25% off and still walk out empty handed 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Saw a little vase today was marked $8.99 turned it over and the original price was 3.99….Needless so say it went happily back on the shelf. Normally I would have mentioned it to an employee but thought naw I’m not their pricing police 🤣 Feeling a little salty today I guess lol. Enjoy your videos so very much thanks for sharing 🤎
I’ve been doing OK I have to. You have to look a little harder than you used to have to look for but I’ve been finding some good stuff the last couple weeks but I do understand they they’re gone a little bit crazy but that say it’s really gotta look and sometimes I go and I complain about something when it’s extremely high priced and say this is ridiculous. I speak my mind.
It’s been slim pickings here too, think ppl may be gathering their stuff and waiting for warmer weather to bring it in😂 Got another 6 inches of snow today and tomorrow it’s suppose to feel like -18 🤦🏻♀️ The other day at dollar tree I picked up some seeds just to pretend it’s almost time😂😂 This feels like a very long January!!🤦🏻♀️

Hello Brooke! Love the little pillbox..Thrifting is expensive,but I love it!! Gotta slow way down now because husband got Furloughed from job last week after 12yrs. In Florida unemployment only lasts 12 weeks/ Conn. It's 26 wks. Florida has the lowest in all states. It is awful,he is almost ready to retire this year.😢 I went last week & got a sack leather/ black,like new $5.00 was 10.& 6 really nice shirts & shower hooks new/ all for 20. Whole store was 50% off. Here is a funny story. Sunday I went to our local Good will store and it was nearly closing hour. I was looking at shoes and found a simple black flat wrapped together with a rubber band. Had my size, so I scooped them up and paid for them.
Come to find out when I got home they were 2 left shoes.
Fast forward to today and went back with my receipt to show themmy problem. The clerk said to check for the missing mates to the shoes.
I found them. Two rights rubber banded together. Definitely they matched my shoe. So took up to clerk. I was going to give one shoe back but she said i brought two shoes in , I take 2 shoes back. So I now have 2 complete sets of the same shoes. It averaged out to $2.00 for 2 sets instead of one.
Moral of story, two wrongs can make 4 right s.😂

I know! It feels like everything is getting more expensive! In all the stores, but I think in thrift stores it’s a huge trend right now to thrift. I’ve been doing it for 4045 years but some people the younger generation is starting to do it a lot and that’s why the price went up.

Hi Brooke! Having the same issues with our thrift stores in Australia totally over priced ridiculous!!!! Whyyyy!!! Getting harder and harder to find a bargain!!!! Some are reasonable!!! But at times very disappointing!!!! No reflection on the volunteers!!! Just not like it used to be!!!! Is this a sign of the times we live in now!!!!! 💕💕💕☹️☹️☹️

I have noticed higher prices in thrift stores too! There are some things I will pay for / like oil paintings / fine china etc but for most items overpriced I will pass! I have enough stuff at home but it’s always a fun outing!

Good morning Brooke, yesterday I went to Hobby lobby store have you heard about it? It's all over the states, and there is one in Canada The moment I when in there I started thinking about you your ears must have been ringing, lol I had never been in there before I loved it it's a craft store but it has many beautiful stuff.I bought some small paintings that look antique but are new.I also but antique picture frames for my mom and grandma's photos for like $5 bucks and a small bust of a lady for $4 dollars. Everything was 50% off and also saw many bunny rabbits, for Easter. Some beautiful antiques looking items even if they are new. I think it's cheaper than Michael's and more dainty items.I spend like $30 dollars for like 8 items. Like I told you before here in South Florida, we don't have good Thrift stores.They told me Northern Florida, maybe when I visit up North, I will check them out. Have a great week and keep warm. ❤
Yes, I’ve heard of Hobby lobby. We don’t have that here. We do have that here we have Michael’s that’s definitely overpriced. Things are different all over the world. I prefer to find most things rifting them from retail stores or big box stores, but I do go there sometimes to find a little add-ins. I think it’s the thrill of the fine. Thanks for sharing with me. The prices are so high! Thrift stores are forgetting they are thrift , not retail. Their original intent was to raise money, and help people of lesser means buy goods they need.
