Indian Navy Aircraft Carrier Battle Group | INS Vikramaditya | INS Vikrant | News Decode
A carrier battle group (CVBG) is a naval fleet consisting of an aircraft carrier which is the centre piece and its large number of escorts, together defining the group as Aircraft Carrier Battle Group. Handful of countries in world has an full fledge carrier battle group and Indian Navy is one of them.
Indian Navy has 2 carrier battle group centered around Ins Vikramaditya and Ins Vikrant, both the aircraft carrier of Indian Navy has displacement of 45000 Tons and can carry upto 36 aircrafts.
As of now Ins Vikramaditya operates Mig 29k from its deck as main fighter aircraft and upto 10 helicopters which can include Kamov ka31, Sea King, MH60 Romeo and ALH Dhruv.
Ins Vikrant will operate either Fa18 superhornet or Rafale m, Indian Naby is evaluating both the aircraft for Ins Vikrant.
Indian Navy Carrier Battle Group will have following ships :-
Submarine: The formation will have upto 2 submarines of Sindhughosh class or Kalvari class submarine for sanitizing the path of aircraft caeeier and engage underwater threat.
Destroyer: The carrier formation will also have 2-3 destroyers either Kolkata class destroyer or Visakhapatnam class destroyer. It may also include 1 Delhi class destroyer, depending on Indian Navy's requirment.
Frigate: The carrier formation will also have 2 frigates of Indian Navy, either Shivalik Class frigate or Talwar Class Frigate.
Corvette: The carrier formation will also have 2 frigates which may inclue Kamorta class corvette.
and finally in will also include 1 fleet replenishment ship which will carry additional fuels, food and ammunations. Which will be either Deepak class or Aditya class ship.

Yes but INS Vikrant is not operational ready, Indian Navy is yet to finalize 26 Fighter Jet for INS Vikrant and then training onboard INS Vikrant.
It will take 2-3 years to be operational ready.
