    This system is highly effective at the club level (up to ~2100 USChess) since this is not why players play the French. Both sides have to find enterprising continuations. Excellent analysis and thanks for the LiChess study.

    I like the papa gambit against the French (2. b3). Super fun. Thanks for this!

      That's a good blitz gambit too 👍

    Thx for your great video and a different approach of the modern gambit as I'm used to play Nbd2/Nb3 allowing Black to re-rout Nge7/Ng6 but clamping on d4 square + Rb1 and h4/h5 combo

      Nbd2 and Nb3 is also good but I thought I would suggest something different anyways 👍

    Fantastic, I've been wanting to learn this gambit and there aren't many resources online. Thanks!

    1:57 if b4 you say black unable to capture Bxf2 as after Ke2 white eventually wins bishop on f2 with Rf1, but my computer analysis always shows black is fine with capturing f2 as the black’s f pawn starts moving and eventually forks white’s bishop and knight if white tries to capture that bishop on f2 with rook?

    Hello,
    Great video! So happy I found this!
    But I struggle a lot when opponent plays 5. ...Bd2 instead of Qb6, because the queen might stay at home and I have no target to chase.
    For example:
    1.e4e6 2.d4d5 3.e5c5 4.c3Nc6 5.Nf3Bd2 6.Bd3 (in the spirit of the gambit) cxd4
    Do I try 7.O-O (trying to sacrifice the pawn, but I will not be able to win tempo on the black queen) or do I try 7.cxd4 which frees the c3 square for the Knight (but then black can play 7. ...Qb6 and suddenly I realise that black avoided the gambit successfully)?

      I think objectively speaking 6.Be2 is what people prefer there when Black plays Bd7. But in the spirit of the gambit I would play 6.Bd3 and 7.0-0, you may need to play quite actively to find compensation perhaps h4 ideas later

      @@MoltonChess wouldn't that just be a clear improvement on blacks part because they just gain a tempo plus there are no rb1 ideas?

    Does anyone have a good way for white to handle
    1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 b6 4. c3 Qd7

    What if black plays bd7 after nc6?

  • @mrpizza6503

    What about Nc6 Bd7 You can’t play this gambit?

    • @MoltonChess
      @MoltonChess  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you just have to play Be2 against that one since the gambit is not as effective there

    That's why I'm having many troubles playing this line, how could I play french as black against this line?

    • @MoltonChess
      @MoltonChess  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think I gave a suggestion in my French video. To do with the Nc8-b6 idea you could try

    I'm getting scared to play the French now.😂 Nice to know my opponents' weapons, though.

    At 4.15 you say …bxd3 is the best move, but it loses a piece after bxc5

    • @MoltonChess
      @MoltonChess  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you take the Bishop on c5 then Black can slide the queen to a6 to defend the light squared Bishop
