  • Can you say dog days? This is a time of year so many anglers dread. Short of being way up north fishing is generally hot and hard. I’m very confident in these 4 baits though and know they will help you get bit.
For any of the gear I use all season long you can get it here: www.basspro.co...

I watch a ton of angler's YT videos. Mr . Defoe,
You are head and shoulders above the rest. The way you explain the use of baits is fantastic. It's so easy to understand. My catch rate has exploded since I started watching you. Thank you so much for opening the door for me to catch bass consistently.
    Thank you - Al

So glad you are putting-out this channel, Ott. Great to watch, highly informative and you weave-in a lot of your personal experiences with baits and techniques. Can't sit still waiting for the next video. Just went-out and reviewed the supply of old, original Rapalas I have had since a teen-ager. Had to wade-through all of my new ones just to get to them. Wonderful baits!

Wow, my biggest Ft. Loudon bass is also from a Creek in Summer on a buzz bait. I was by myself and it had to be at least 8lbs it was huge! SLURP and then it jumped and that is when I got scared as she ran around the boat. Finally landed here and all I could do was show her off to a train going by lol. This was before cell phone cameras.

Love your picks and the breakdown of how and where to use them. I have a great collection of OG baits including the Tiny and I love bumping the Tiny through some medium and larger rocks, especially when the rocks aren’t as jagged. I’ve been Rapala for over 50 years thanks to my Dad, and I love your series 💯🎣😜😎🙏 Thanks Ott

The jig is HOT for me right now. The bass just cant resist it.

I agree with the cold water analogy of the crank. I apply this to my frog in the heat of the summer. Very slow cadence. And same with my jigs, very very slow. At ice off or the hottest days of the year, they are lethargic, and slow seems to be the way to get them to bite.

Great selection of baits. It's funny I always fish shallow. Never fished deep for bass except one lake. Fish 30ft. Of water with 15 ft or more of the tree above water. Thank you for sharing 👍 Good luck in your next tournament 👍

I use heavier line 14 lb test fluorocarbon on a 7 ‘ MH spinning pole 4000 series reel. Rig that with a nice larger bait and I call it the “ Bubba Shot”… great for hitting the weed holes/lines and giving them something different to look at. 1/2 to 3/4 ounce weight.

Thank you Ott, I knew there would probably be a crank bait on the list love it I love crank baits and I really like your thought of staying shallow in the summer I have always thought you had to be out deeper but I will try that more thank you and good luck on the next 2 tournaments

Thanks Ott. You do like your worms. I am with you on that. It seems people are not throwing them as much with all the new plastics available. Not to much luck on 10"+ worms but 8" and under I'm in.

Yep I didn’t see the ol buzzer coming!! Or tiny!!! I gotta try the drop shot though. Had a good tournament Saturday and caught a 6 out of brush pile on DT 14!!! Had to make at least 15 casts before it but. Thank you sir and best of luck up north!!!

Ott, thank you for this video on your picks for August. I have been throwing a buzz bait for years and have always had a skirt with a trailer. What is your reasoning for not having a skirt and do you always use a frog body? Thanks for all the great information you pass on to us. 🙏🎣
