A friend of mine took me out for the first time using a long tail mud motor. I have never had so much fun going through mud, weeds, and grass.
I am now looking at getting a 22hp predator engine and swamp runner kit. But my question is how do you think it would perform on a 14ft fiberglass Terry Bassboat? My friend says he has never used a mud motor on a fiberglass boat.

Fun stuff! My humble opinion is it wouldn't work well on a fiberglass boat, especially a a bass boat. I think you would be disappointed. A 22hp would be best on a 15' or bigger aluminum John boat. The 420cc engine is perfect for a 14' flat bottom just for size reference

The biggest reason a fiberglass boat is less desirable is, they sit to deep in the water, and they are not durable by any means finding a John boat of according size will suit you much better

Is this a 12ft Jon boat? I just got a 420 and thinking it’s going to be to big for my lowe 12ft but I also have a swamp runner

What size boat is your buddy using. I’m debating a 18 hp vanguard on my 14-36

      I think it's a 14'-40" maybe 42" shallow boat, I wouldn't think you would have any trouble 18hp

Every video I seen yall don't put them motors on a big enough boats man would run way better if the boat was wider an u would have more room to turn an all bro

Yeah your right about that, I just like the narrow boats because I can go in tighter places, small creeks and such, I did add some proper grab bars on that boat, it helped a lot
