  • George Lucas says there were ALWAYS strong women in Star Wars, even if they wore dresses. Yes, this seems to be a jab at Kathleen "The Force is Female" Kennedy and the narrative that Star Wars was never for women and never included women. Geeky Sparkles is on fire in this video, so grab some popcorn.

DEIsney quite conveniently forgets none of us had a problem with pre-sequel trilogy Leia Organa, Bastila Shan, Mara Jade, Padme Amidala, Carasynthia Dune, Asaaj Ventriss, or for that matter, Fennec Shand, Ahsoka, Bo Katan Kryze, and Sabine Wren (well at least before they started f*ckin all those characters up and making them sh*t)
It's almost like we had good reason to criticize characters like Rey Palpatine, Rose Tico and Reva Sevander...
You know what i hear? "Wah men are treating us as equals and criticizing us the same way they do male creators that don't know wtf they are doing, oh the misogyny! We're women and therefore should be immune from criticism because we don't practice what we preach nor believe the lies we tell ourselves!"

Disney wants you to believe their characters are strong. Which might be true from a power point of view. Given how often the universe just bends over backwards to favor them. Only that not very appealing character wise. For what they forget, is stats and power does not equal character. A person point of view on what to do with power. Like defending the weak or using it to force others to do their bidding, for the weak must bow their heads to the strong or be destroy. That is character. Not i'm perfect person with little to no emotions or can only be anger a majority of the time at everything, with powers that are just made upon the spot to get them out of any trouble they come across.
Disney idea of how to write female characters. Is the perfect case study of what not to do when writing characters. Be they male or female.

See that's whats hypocritical about this all to me.
They want to claim that star wars was always "woke" and that it always catered to their political opinions.
But then they also want you to believe that star wars was a male dominated franchise for dude bros and that it needed some sort of fixing in the modern time.
That's just how you know these people have no idea what they are talking about. They don't care about the franchise they invade. they will take a glance. call it problematic. demand changes that cater to their ideology. Because it was never about it being "problematic", it was always about subverting the culture so they could push their propaganda, They know full well what they are doing and once they have done that, they will claim it was always this way in the first place.

      @linusgustafsson2629 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

I never liked the prequels because the fall to the dark side was too unreasonable. It starts out acceptable with "If you join the dark side, you can save your wife", then it becomes questionable at "Just kill a lot of children, and you might be able to save your wife." At this point the character moves away from a relateable person to someone who apparently was very extreme in thinking that no life matters except his wives life. Then it just got even worse at the end where they imply Anakin is so lost in his quest to save his wife, that he'd willing kill his wife to make sure nobody stops him from saving his wife. At that point it just became too ridiculous for me, because frankly Anakin no longer had any reason to even save his wife if he'd be willing to kill her to do so. And if that was true, he'd definitely not have reacted at the end of being told she was dead, because he'd just tell the Emperor "You are lying" then strike him down and we'd have no emperor left in the story.
You can't just make Anakin insane and sane at the same time. He'd either strongly refuse to accept any chances his wife is dead, or he'd have backed down and hugged his wife when she came for him.
In that sense I believe George screwed up in his writing and someone should have been brave enough to tell him "At least cut out the part where he meets Padme again, because that would bring him back out of his hatred and back to love".

Heck the Death Star already blew up a planet. Making it clear it was a threat. With it about to do so again. making it clear the empire was more than ready and willingly to use this weapon. Not destroying it, would of lead to way more lost of life. Making the whole maybe Luke is not the good guy due to destroying it, a very questionable statement. For even disney used the Emperor as a villain in their movies. Who ruled the empire? The Emperor. So even going by their own bloody stuff. This makes no sense. For that weapon was under the control of the Emperor. He clearly would of used it to do more evil. The man who started a war throughout the galaxy, controlling both sides. Just so he could use it to grant himself more power and rule over it. How was Luke not the good guy and later Lando for that matter, for blowing up the death star?
Which also the people on the death star would be military. They should know their duties are dangerous, that it could lead to their death. They are in a dangerous profession, where death is common. They are making it sound like this is just every day normal people, trying to build a house or something.

That's exactly one of the points I've been making for awhile now. You go back to the 80s and 90s and we always had 'diverse' people in our media and women too. I am so sick of all this 'first female whatevers' and 'first gay whatevers' they try to use to push their BS awful writing on people. They put their crap out there and then try to say we're all a bunch of bigots who hate women and people of different colors in our movies.

That BS that it was okay because it would be a strong woman that would torment a little girl was just offensive. Strong people don't torture children. Sure, Obi Won did save her, but Disney, a company that prides itself for family entertainment, introduced the idea of it. Sometimes, ideas can be just as bad as actions. Disney will never apologize for that.

I'm a woman and I've like Star wars. Since I was probably 8 years old, my dad introduced me to it because he liked it when he was a kid and he remembers seeing it in theaters whenever the first three came out

I'd say Willingly contributing to the construction of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, with the intent on turning said weapon against your opposition, kinda voids you from claiming "innocent bystander" status...

I think we need a new name. These things that are not "Star Wars" need to be called a "SWINO" movie (Star Wars In Name Only) so we can clearly understand the difference of Star Wars to this crap.

George's wife Marcia Lucas edited the first Movie. She's literally called the Mother of Star Wars.

And she won an Oscar for editing ANH but Lucas will never acknowledge her work after she cheated on him and left him for one of the designers of Skywalker ranch - Lucas also refuses to acknowledge Gary Kurtz (executive producer on ANH and ESB)

Mon Mothma doesn’t exist I guess as leader of the Rebellion. Leia was a spitfire too and top leader. No man ever questioned this or thought it was a problem.

The people running disney Star Wars have NO clue about it and trashing everything that George Lucas has made! If Acolyte introduces Sith characters which meant it not be seen or heard for a millennium it proves they don’t care at all. I’m not going to watch the new show if run by Darth Kennedy and her loyalists or her projects.
No strong female characters back then? WTF?

There's an old magazine scan that lists the confirmed canon by Lucasfilm....and in that was the EU books, lol.

South Park Streaming Wars was also about Disney: specifically Disney water parks recycle water in to the drinking water. Cast Members and Orlando Residents know this. It is just that no one had said it out loud.

Both Padme and Leia were like, some of the smartest, most important, and successful people in both Star Wars trilogies.

John Rambo was strong because he stood up to injustice. Joh Matrix was strong because he put his life on the line for someone he loved. Die Hard was strong because he didn't run and hide. These characters weren't strong because they could beat up men, they were strong through their actions. And there is the problem, these "writers" think that their strength came from their muscles and fists and that is how they write females. Men with boobs is the trope.

Then who the hell were Ventress? Ahsoka? Bastilla Shan? Meetra?
It's more of a justification than anything, the current "regime" cannot make "strong" and interesting characters. So they do the blame game.

A lot of the problem is that films have to be almost three hours long now. It feeds mindless indulgence, creating ponderous and messy films. Marcia had to trim Star Wars down and make it work within that 90 minute limit and the film is far tighter for it.

From what I've seen about the original cut, it's like basically Lucas wanted the movie to be a shot-for-shot adaptation of the original screenplay (which is also basically what his book is).
It adds alot, and I mean ALOT of backplot for Luke and his group of friends that just does not exist in the movie (which means his "reunion" scene in the movie would actually make sense).
It's a great read, but the book would (and DOES) make for a terribly slow, boring movie.
That said, the Original Cut is still INCREDIBLY fasinating to look into. Even if just for the blasters smoking as they loudly fire blanks. There is an entire movie's worth of scenes they cut out.
