some americans are weird (when it comes to language). i just thought about this after reading this comment. so Matt's italian, right? or at least speaks italian and english fluently. i don't think i've ever heard about a european going up to an american and being like "say something in english" because I THINK, don t quote me on this, but i think in Europe, you learn english almost like as a second language. it's kind of a must in most cases because it's a universal language. i feel like any european knows at least a little bit of english. do americans have this? a foreign language that is a must for them to learn in school? i don't want this to come across as mean or anything. the thought just crossed my mind because again, i've never heard a european person ask an american to "say something in english"
Delia Enya unfortunately a foreign language is only standard in high school, where most students choose from either Spanish or French (some schools do offer more languages). But if we would start teaching American kids a 2nd language when they were young they might actually be able to speak it later.
So you never ask ppl from other countries to say something in their language? I love hearing other languages, I grew up with lots of kids from other countries and it was always so beautiful to hear them talk to each other in their own languages 😊

I still want to see a “tryDIY” episode where they have to do a diy Pinterest project using only what they have at home. They all have to make the same thing so it’s a challenge, and it’ll be hilarious because if they don’t have tin foil they can use candy wrappers, or if they don’t have glue they can use water and flour, etc. would be so great!!!

That would be a great episode for supporting the teachers out here working hard to keep education going. As a teacher, I can say we are working probably twice as hard right now to support our families from afar. Those kinds of projects are exactly what we are trying to do, especially for those in alternative pedagogies like Montessori that heavily rely on materials the children do not have access to right now.
