Two years ago I traveled to Paris in early December. I loved it. The weather was cold but the city felt romantic and atmospheric. Christmas decorations were up and we visited holiday fairs. When we got cold, a stop at a bakery or cafe was perfect. Small to no crowds. I recommend it.
I’m so grateful that I visited Paris in May. The weather was beautiful, it wasn’t too crowded and I made the trip to Monet’s garden when it was in full flower.
Early May this year was beautiful, but Paris was very crowded. Givenchy was INSANE. The line around the lake was two deep and we could not get into the house. The line was across the entire front. We gave up and still nearly missed our return bus. The flowers were gorgeous, however.
We were in Paris this past late December/early January. We got so lucky with the weather (we’re from Chicago so may have a different standard 😂). Our Air France tickets were very affordable. Some attractions were busy but we were able to secure tickets at each place. Getting places by Uber was very quick, easy, and affordable. The metro was also easy. I was so shocked how late the sunrise was. With help from Les Frenchies we knew to avoid people with clipboards, bracelets, etc and to keep our belongings close and well secured. It took me 20 years to make it and I can’t wait to go back 😢 8 days wasn’t nearly enough to see everything we wanted!
I've found mid to late September is the perfect time to travel. Not only to Paris but London, Sydney, Barcelona wherever. Always perfect weather, less crowded.
We’ve visited Paris in all seasons except autumn. Winter is our favourite. Christmas markets are fun. Less crowded and the city is bathed in an atmospheric light that makes its views and street scapes hauntingly beautiful
I was in Paris the winter of 2019. Coming from Minnesota the 40 degrees Fahrenheit felt like a heatwave to me. I walked around with long sleeves but definitely no sweater or coat.
Bonjour Antoine and Colleen. Another Saturday morning, Le Tour is wrapping up, and I having my coffee watching your video. It doesn’t get much better ❤😊
Another great video. I've been to Paris 15-20 times, usually 2 weeks each time. I've been in April and May and it can be hot. I've never visited in summer because of the heat, crowds, and cost. I usually visit in Autumn with Nov being by far my favorite. Being in Pere Lachaise cemetery as the sun sets, the sky turns purple, and the birds roosting in the leafless trees is one of my favorite experiences. The Christmas villages are wonderful although the big one at La Defense in not for those who dislike crowds. I do miss the flowers in autumn but the gardens of Versailles, Luxembourg, and Tuileries are still beautiful and there are a few flowers here and there. I love walking along paths with the crunchy leaves under foot. As you said, it's never a bad time to visit Paris - it's up to the individual.
From Texas - I want to go to Paris so badly and so does hubby. We’d love to go in early December but he is limited in his ability to walk any distance... I’m guessing 1/8 mile max at a time. I’m wondering how someone with limited ability to walk (but not in a wheelchair or on a walker) can best enjoy Paris?
Excellent video! I think this is the first video to show the importance of daylight. Not only are the days shorter in winter but the angle of the sun is also lower. When I was a student in Paris, I had an 8AM class and remember walking to class in complete darkness.
I so wish to return to Paris. I went twice, first time in July (2022) and second time in February (this year). It does not even matter to me if the days are short or long, if it rains or not... the charm is there no matter what and there are things to do regardless of the season. Unfortunately, the hotel prices have doubled. Single travel is no longer doable for me when it comes to Paris :( I will probably try to go to other cities like Bordeaux or Lyon, but Paris is Paris :)
Bordeaux is a good choice. The city is beautiful, and from there, you can reach very quickly the Atlantic coast and the Cap Ferret in the West, and the Dordogne in the East. As for Lyon, the city is the gastronomic capital of France (if you love cuisine), and the Alps are very close 😉
Merci Colleen & Antoine, your timing is perfect! We are visiting Paris & Normandy in mid-October & I was just beginning to plan my packing strategy, so this video is very helpful; the weather won’t be too much different than here at home in NYC. Les Frenchies videos have become part of my Saturday morning breakfast in bed routine! I appreciate all of your helpful tips & can’t wait to get to Paris to put many of them to use. Merci beaucoup!
One reason I like to visit Paris in September is that the locals are just back from their summer holidays and seem more relaxed. Each year I tend to get to Paris in September or October. But from my youth, I remember Paris in May and hope to fit in a late spring visit in the future.
August 15th has always been a favorite of mine , it always feels sureal to see Paris empty like that. And then for the american who likes wine skip the turkey at thanksgiving fly to paris and make a beeline for the salon des vignerons independants and get a bit pompette while discovering great wine from all over France.
I recommend late March, early April. The weather is mild, there are spring blooms, and brighter skies without the high season crowds. I've heard that April can mean rain but I've been lucky and only had sunny skies in fact April 2024, I experienced 2 days with unusually high temps in the 90s. The nights were cool and I did not miss AC.
If you're visiting in July-August and see a store or restaurant you're interested in that's open, go right then and enjoy! They don't tend to post signs that they will be out next week, or soon or the like, they post when they have left. A few times I thought oh I'll come back in a day or two and the place was closed for vacation. You do get to discover new places nearby, but if you have your heart set on something it may not be available later.
We were there in March (last year) it was chilly and rainy, but we had a wonderful time regardless. Next time we’ll look at November, seems like a great month to visit.
I was in Paris in June....spent 5 days in Normandy before going to Paris. I got sick my 2nd day, and was pretty much out of commission for the rest of the trip. Since I missed out on a lot, I have been thinking about going back soon..maybe next year, just for a few days...and to save money, I was thinking of a late November/early December trip. I was amazed at how big of a price difference it is. All in for my Normandy/Paris trip this past June, it cost about $4,000. That includes EVERYTHING: Airfare, hotel, eating out, rental car, souvenirs, etc. Out of curiosity, I was pricing airfare and hotels for late November/December..all in, it would be A LOT less...roughly $1000-1500. Maybe a little more, but not much. I absolutely LOVE cheese fondue, and had the best Fondue of my life in Paris. I would definitely like to try some other restaurants. I really did enjoy France. By far the best trip I ever had. The people were super friendly and nice. There was only one French man that was rude, and that was in Normandy. He said "You Americans. You bring your war here, and we do not want any part of it." I laughed, because it was June 7, they day after the D-day anniversary. I just said "Parlez-vous Allemand? Non, Je Sais. Al beitizein." Just ATTEMPT to speak their language. They will respect you, and help you.

For lunch, I stopped at a French cafe in the middle of nowhere in Normandy. The staff did not speak English, so I relied on my broken French to communicate. I only ordered an appetizer, and the waiter said Aperitif seulement? I said Je sais. Est ne toi. Est moi. Je suis American. I returned the favor to a stranger though. That night, I was at a concert at St. Mere Eglise. I was on line to buy some cider. I was talking to 2 local women, when I finally received a message from my veterinarian he made it. I broke down, and said to the women " Mon chat est vivant! Votre cidres est sur moi!" Like I said, people were VERY friendly and helpful.
Such a hardwork video for public. Thank you from depth of my heart as per your video, we can arrange our belongs before blindly packing the unwanted stuffs in . ❤
One of your most helpful videos! Two advantages to visiting in October/November: 1. The recent harvest means excellent produce and game in the markets; and 2. In late November, there are few Americans! Their (our) travel plans are more focused on domestic travel to be with family for the holidays. Let's go!
We were in Paris two weeks ago and it was great. We were advised not to because of the Olympics coming. We actually picked the right time. It wasn’t as packed as we were told. Even Versailles and the Louvre were great. I got our tickets a few days before we left and there were plenty of spots left. We miss you Paris! We will be back.
Our first time in aris was in February-- Valentine's Day! We only need light coat.s It was great! The second time we went in late March into early April-- another excellent time to visit.
Great advice! I would add to check when the school kids are on spring break. We went to Paris last year in April and forgot about spring break. Everything was overrun with families with kids! We had a great time anyway!
We visited Paris in late June 2023. The dahlias in the Tuileries Garden were in full bloom and it was amazing! Enjoyed a relaxing lunch there after visiting Le Louvre. We're from Ohio and were amazed to see it was still light out at 10PM. We were not used to that!
Just wanted to say thank you both for your FANTASTIC videos! My Wife and I just returned from Paris and had a wonderful time and used lots of your tips from Metro, Sights and even avoiding pickpockets! Thanks from London Les Frenchies. On Y Va 💪
Early September. Been to Paris in September,May,August + December. Good all times. Even in rain. At top of Arc de Triomphe in December see the city darken and light up around 5pm. So dont need to hang around till late at night!
Went to Paris in March this year. It was perfect. Got up to upper 40s and low 50s. I live in Houston so I get enough heat so I don't mind traveling to somewhere when it's cooler bc we don't get that very often. Can't wait to go back to Paris.
Thank you for this. We have been in April, May and late September and have a trip booked for March 22-31 2025. Looking forward to seeing the tree blossoms start - plus enjoying those cool-weather French foods! Also -- not needing to stay out so late to see Paris at night. Great tip too on being aware of French holidays; even ones some from places like the US aren't even aware of can make things very busy (including weekend arrival). I don't think there's such a thing as a "minor holiday" in France.
Honestly, for a country that take the separation of church and state very seriously, they celebrate a lot of catholic holidays many people never heard of. Anything for a day off from work 🤣
We visited Paris last March-April…it was VERY cold 🥶 for us. We are from the Caribbean and we definitely aren’t used to that. We loved France and want to visit again but in Summer. I don’t think it can be worse than the 100 degrees and humid weather we have at home
Aww, I love this video! I went to Paris in the first two weeks of May, such beautiful weather, but as noted in this video there were several bank holidays during that time and touristy places were crowded. I'm going back in May of 2025 and heading to Paris from Mid-December to January of this year! Going to use these tips when I travel.
I love Paris it is a beautiful city. I've been twice. First time in winter (2006) and in late spring (2008) But the weather was really starting to warm up and I think summer would be too hot for me. If I go next time I would definitely go in either winter/early spring or fall 😊
Visited parts mid December 2023. Had some perfect blue sky days, including on the day of our trip to Versailles. Absolutely perfect, although some people may have though I was crazy wearing a T shirt when out in the sun!!
Watch most of your videos. Makes me homesick for Paris - and I’ve never LIVED there. But when my wife and I retire in a couple more years, we plan on moving to Europe (she's German and has family there), and I'd love to move to Paris. Except it is perhaps even MORE expensive than where we live now (Los Angeles). Last time I was there was December, 2022. Got to see the Christmas market at Tuileries (it was actually not too far from our hotel). Got to see the Christmas displays in the stores. Got to freeze our butts off on the Eiffel Tower where there was snow and ice on the top level. Got COVID, probably on the RER B. That part wasn’t fun. Time before that was September, 2019. I spent one day there myself as a layover on the way home from Germany. Wound up spending half my time shopping for another piece of luggage so I wasn’t overweight from the stuff my wife put in my bag (we had flown separately, and on different airlines, and it would have cost a lot more for me to NOT stay overnight in Paris). Before that was 2000, when we were there early September and got engaged on the Eiffel Tower. Twice before that when I was a teenager, during summer break. LONG ago (like mid 1970’s). I'm an Angeleno, born and raised, and we obviously don’t get the cold weather here (unless you drive a couple of hours to the mountains). But I'm also quite warm blooded and in Paris in December, I wasn’t actually wearing thermal underwear - just jeans, a Polo shirt, and “sneakers” - though I had double socks (thermals and regular), had gloves, a hat, and a VERY warm jacket. Not really any different than NYC, which I've been to a million times in my life. Kinda not fond of summer. Hot, stuffy, and I'm an AC kind of guy. Thanks for another great video!
I went in January this year. I am going back this year again. I am a "Poseur Artiste" :) and I can't imagine what the Louvre or d'Orsay is like during the Spring.
Thank you SO much for all your videos about Paris and the surrounding areas, I've watched all of them at least once or twice. I have a visit planned from Oct to early Nov, and your information has been helpful while planning tours, places to see, what to avoid, etc. I hope to see you on the streets, I'll be looking for you!
Excellent recommendations….i used to commute for work from Manchester to Paris throughout the year…..so was going to mention BHs (and “pon” days) in May …..limited aircon in old hotels and the impact of Parisian vacations in August. I recall air quality can get bad in protracted hot periods. For me, I’d go between Autumn and Spring…. Summer can be too hot
I was there in February and couldn't wear any of my jumpers. I came during a very odd hot spell, lol. Planning another trip with my mum for her big birthday in 2 years and planning on around may.
I don't go anywhere in summer, I'm more a winter visitor, not because I like the cold weather, but because summer is just so busy and there's people everywhere, I cant
Great info! I’ll be there in September to celebrate my 30th🎉 if I run into you guys can I stand in line for a photo? Thank you guys for all your time putting these together!
We arrived in your beautiful city four days ago. Unfortunately we could not walk in green spaces, nor get to sights easily due to upcoming Olympics. It just means that we need to come again in the future to get the real feel for Paris.
I visited Paris for the first time last November. The prices were great for flights and hotels. I wanted to come band in May however plans were deraile.. I'm shooting for after the Olympics and late September or right after fall fashion week.
Planning to move to France, but miss my car and the comfort of driving wherever and whenever I want, during the pandemic, without fear. Never got sick but came back last Christmas from Europe with COVID because of using crowded public transportation.
Early in the aughts, my brother took my 80-something mother for her only visit to Paris. They loved it, but they had chosen April and found it cold and rainy the whole time. I don't know whether they picked an unlucky week (April is a fickle month everywhere, see, for example, T.S. Eliot), but temps are not the only weather consideration.
Thank you! I was just wondering this for my next trip to France! Also thank you for mentioning the daylight hours because that was the one thing that stood out to me living in both Japan and Australia when the sun generally sets around 5-7pm (give or take) 😅
Love your contents, super informative! Would you please make a video on how to safely take photos/videos like you guys do in Paris? Yes I know about the etiquette but I’m more concerned about the pickpockets/petty thefts, and wouldn’t want anyone snatching my camera/phone 😅
Last time I visited Paris, was end of January 2019, and it was cool, but not unpleasant, although I normally live in the north of England, so I am used to generally cooler temperatures. D
Love your videos, wife and I are traveling to Paris mid Sept. What do you guys think the state of Paris will be then? Were wondering if itll be trashed by the olympics or hopefully will be cleaned up and back to how it was before. What fo you guys think?
I’m so glad we’re coming in February. My wife and I are not “crowd” people, and we live in Wisconsin, so weather won’t be an issue. Thank you for another informative video!
The problem with January and February is they close the top of the Eiffel Tower for maintenance, It’s cold to be up there then, but it can be a letdown,
OMG, we had a dreadful weather all along Autumn, Winter and Spring this year in France. You were really not lucky… But you were not the only one : rain never stopped from November to May this year. It was awful for the visitors.
We wore shorts when we went to Paris years ago during springtime. Everyone was in pants lol and it was HOT. We definitely got looks (none rude) but it didn’t bother us because no one is going to say anything…other than the cat calls we got 😂😂 this was over 10 years ago though.

As usual, your photographs are spectacular. But then it IS Paris.
We went to Paris 2 times. August and December 👍
thank you for this guys! im visiting paris for the third time solo this time in november from singapore. hopefully i'll be safe!
I’m also visiting Paris for the third time solo this November from US!
I went in January of this year and loved it! I always travel on the off season.
I love Paris it is a beautiful city. I've been twice. First time in winter (2006) and in late spring (2008) But the weather was really starting to warm up and I think summer would be too hot for me. If I go next time I would definitely go in either winter/early spring or fall 😊
Amazing video ! extremely useful for our traveler friend to plan and have an idea what's going on in the seasons! thank you for what you do :D
Anytime but July or August for me! I’ve been in spring and fall and both were wonderful! Thanks!
Visited parts mid December 2023. Had some perfect blue sky days, including on the day of our trip to Versailles. Absolutely perfect, although some people may have though I was crazy wearing a T shirt when out in the sun!!
Excellent! Covers all bases. Thanks!
December for the decorations, April for the flowers. 😊
This was exactly the question I was trying to figure out 😱 thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yay! It's one of the videos I wish I had before traveling. Happy planning and bon voyage.
I went in January this year. I am going back this year again. I am a "Poseur Artiste" :) and I can't imagine what the Louvre or d'Orsay is like during the Spring.
Great video, I’m visiting in September so this was very helpful 😊
Bon voyage!
I dont mind the cold. I do mind crowds. I prefer to travel to Europe in late fall or December.
Great content as always! I’m considering a Nov 10-17 trip. Do you think I have a chance of catching a Xmas market?
We've visited in may and october, loved october as its my type of weather, was beautiful as the colours were changing in the trees
Have just found you guys and am loving your videos. Fantastic. Love the food ones too!
jan feb! hotel costs & air fares are lower (sometimes GREAT DEALS with empty planes that allow u to sleep on the entire empty row)
😉
Excellent recommendations….i used to commute for work from Manchester to Paris throughout the year…..so was going to mention BHs (and “pon” days) in May …..limited aircon in old hotels and the impact of Parisian vacations in August. I recall air quality can get bad in protracted hot periods. For me, I’d go between Autumn and Spring…. Summer can be too hot
Most useful video of Paris ever thanks
What a wonderful video. It's always good to know when is the best time to visit Paris.
♡♡♡♡♡
@@LesFrenchiesTravel 😀
I was there in February and couldn't wear any of my jumpers. I came during a very odd hot spell, lol. Planning another trip with my mum for her big birthday in 2 years and planning on around may.
it should be called climate chaos 🙄
You guys must visit Grenoble, Chamonix, and Annecy. In my opinion, Grenoble is the most underrated city in France.
In Spring be careful with pollen allergies. Also in June you have the white nights, a music festival with musicians all around the city until dawn.
we used to go every year in the early spring and late fall. Everything was open, not as many tourists
Brittany is definitely on our list of places to visit!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I visit Paris last week, and your videos was so helpful. Thank you.
GREAT CONTENT AS ALWAYS!!!!
MANY THANKS!!!!
SENDING❤ FROM WEST PALM BEACH!!!!
Excellent info. Thank you sooooo much!
You are sooooo welcome
Thanks for this . Very helpful
I was there in March and I was really cold however it was less crowded
thank you so much for this video. We got tickets to Paris in mid November and can't wait for Christmas market :)) Hello from Australia 🇦🇺
We arrived in your beautiful city four days ago. Unfortunately we could not walk in green spaces, nor get to sights easily due to upcoming Olympics. It just means that we need to come again in the future to get the real feel for Paris.
Thanks for the info! Going in late December to Paris and Strasbourg
Best video ever ! Thank you
Wow, thanks!
Very informative video 👍✨️
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ 👋
I visited Paris for the first time last November. The prices were great for flights and hotels. I wanted to come band in May however plans were deraile.. I'm shooting for after the Olympics and late September or right after fall fashion week.
💕 Love your channel! 🤗
I prefer Paris in Fall and Winter.
Im hoping late November will be nice, Im sure it will ❤
VERY useful video! Thank you!!!
Magnifique vidéo culturelle du jour
I just came from Paris yesterday . I went to see the catacombs which I found interesting.
Yes. It was much more than I thought.
Same
Thank you! I was just wondering this for my next trip to France! Also thank you for mentioning the daylight hours because that was the one thing that stood out to me living in both Japan and Australia when the sun generally sets around 5-7pm (give or take) 😅
The sunset timing has caught me off guard many times.
Love your contents, super informative! Would you please make a video on how to safely take photos/videos like you guys do in Paris? Yes I know about the etiquette but I’m more concerned about the pickpockets/petty thefts, and wouldn’t want anyone snatching my camera/phone 😅
That's not a big issue in Paris with phone snatchers, you can take photos and videos in the streets
Mu husband I visited in February 2023. It wasn’t sunny but definitely less crowds.
I think October or November would be best thank you
The problem with January and February is they close the top of the Eiffel Tower for maintenance, It’s cold to be up there then, but it can be a letdown,
On our visit in May we had a late dinner near the Eiffel Tower and realized the sun was still up at 915, was strange but enjoyable at the same time.
Awesome 👌 🎉🎉🎉🎉
My first visit was in November. I had a good time but it was very rainy. I'm hoping for May for my 2nd visit.
OMG, we had a dreadful weather all along Autumn, Winter and Spring this year in France. You were really not lucky… But you were not the only one : rain never stopped from November to May this year. It was awful for the visitors.
@heliedecastanet1882 I've been watching the weather there, and it's been crazy overall.
We wore shorts when we went to Paris years ago during springtime. Everyone was in pants lol and it was HOT. We definitely got looks (none rude) but it didn’t bother us because no one is going to say anything…other than the cat calls we got 😂😂 this was over 10 years ago though.
