Neat to see one work. Had a chance to buy an A with it still on it years ago that worked and I changed my mind.

I need this video in my life. If I live long enough I'll find cultivators for my BN and if I live longer than I should I'll get a exhaust lift for them.

They are out there, rare yes but there is a few left.

I've been interested in and around tractors my whole life, and have never come across one of these. Thanks for sharing.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen one of those work. Thanks for sharing, Matt!

First time for me, pretty slick! Here in the midwest our tractors were manual or hydraulic.

Nice! You don't see that every day!

That's the first A I've seen that still has the exhaust lift. I see very few that have the hand lifts still on them.

I knew about the exhaust lift, but this is the first one I've seen work. It certainly wasn't the best idea.

Not as good as hydraulics, but they were very popular before Super As became common. Must have worked pretty well for a time. I’ve heard some old timers say they worked really well with basic maintenance. Problem is parts aren’t available now.

Looks like alot of parts to keep track of, nice job!👍👍

It was a good idea and worked well but over time the system required a LOT of maintenance and then hydraulics came out.

There was a A with the exhaust lift still on it just over the hill from me sitting out along the road for years. I asked the owner if he wants to sell and got the old "I'm gonna fix that up some day " Well it got moved from the road at one point. I think it is still there but the bushes are hiding it.

We will be doing a more indepth look into how it works and better explain the exhaust lift system on this tractor in a later video .

Yeah I guess it would be impossible to find now.

I bet a replacement can be fabricated. I'd take it apart and build another. Having a mill helps, but it can be sent to someone who can do it.

@@ChevyConQueso Im sure someone could remake one . Its not terribly complicated . I was wondering if something else could be used in its place .

That’s neat. Would the engine be a higher compression engine to help make it work, ? Or not.
    Thanks

No it has a exhaust valve mounted on the manifold that when pulled diverts the exhaust to the cylinder to operate it. In the video you can notice the tractor get quite when he operates the valve.

Question for you Farmall51, I think you recommended some heavy duty oil proof gloves in one of your videos. What brand of gloves were they? Thanks
