Now before you leave a negative comment on the video, we know what you’re thinking - the result is, of course, a foregone conclusion. Although both cars are packing 2-litre turbocharged petrol engines, their performances are actually quite different. The A35 will produce 306hp and 400Nm, while the A45 S’s hand-built engine puts down 421hp and 500Nm!
However, there’s one key stat where the A35 wins - the price! Coming in £13,000 lower, the A35 is easily one of the best value mid-range hot hatches out there. @@dragospahontu the sound on it is insane. That would probably be the reason why I’d get it too. I’ve got the A35 in white, but on normal day to day roads it feels insane. I can’t imagine what the A45s would be like to use daily 😅

@@dragospahontu Exactly. There’s absolutely no point in getting just another 4 cyl when you still can get what may be one of the last of those brilliant 5 cylinder engines. I don’t care if the new RS3 is a tenth or two of a second slower in the 0-60 or on the 1/4 mile, and we have yet to confirm it. Plus, the RS3 always looks better. And yes, those “AMG’s” do look good and are fast.
Definitely a greater more significant difference than we all expected. If I'm honest, I think most will agree the A45s' 4cyl performance is quite something 👌

The a45s too expensive regardless, this just made me not want an a35 😭
It may not be usefull info, but its not tunable at all. Stage 2 is like 350hp. Not worth it. Id even take a golf R for that price too. Stage 2 is around 400 hp, so a big difference 🤷♂️
@@dennisbernaerts6488 my friend has the older a45 and his stage 2 is 420 while my golf r stage 2 plus is also 420... crazy to think the amg came with 60 more BHP from factory!

Love the comparison however the A35 is still a capable performer. A low 13 second quarter mile is nothing to scuff about and at 13k less I would definitely choose the A35 and change the grill to the Panamera grill option. I am thinking with a good tune and exhaust and the comparison would be much closer
Also add a mechanical LSD to the rear. I think all these would be sorted out for something like 1.5K and you would get 90% of the performance for 11.5K less. Good deal.
My only problem with the A35 AMG is, that it isn't a real AMG. It has the same engine as a A220 or A250. The only differences are the Turbocharger, some different gaskets, a different Software and some other little Changes.

Yup, and that’s a pretty bad time for an A35 as well, I’ve seen it do it in 12.9s or even better. Also, I care much more about how the car handles and performs on the road and how fun it is. I recently got an A35 as my first car and couldn’t be happier, more than I need by a long shot and the interior is superb.
Can you add the specialist timing gear to show the 0-60 time to your drag races?
That would make the braking test more precise too
I gotta be honest: I am 100% happy with my A35 (just picked it up about a month ago). It's definitely as quick a car as I'll ever need, has virtually the same cockpit as the A45s, and I have absolutely no regrets!

The marketing teams of certain hypetcar OEM won't let this happen. If catwow run a slower time than lets say 992 Turbo S or 720s(which is most probably the case), the staff of those companies will try everything to ensure them not to publish the video. It's been a long time like this. not a secret

a stage 1 35 is basically a stock 45 lol but not as consistent u still get a slower 0-60 its like 4.2 sec vs a stock 45 is 4 sec its redundant really to get a 35 an tune it itll still lose to a stock 45, just get a 45 cuz the engine in the 35 isnt a real AMG engine the 35 has a normal mercedes engine built in an assembly line the 45 has a real hand built AMG engine with a better twin scroll turbo and better engine displacement wich can make and handle more power consistently.

About the wet braking. The A45s is in Michelin PS4s, while the A35 has some Pzero. Especially in wet, the tyre makes a huge difference, up to few meters. And when the difference is cm, its a mix of tyres and driver reaction. In future when you do tests in “british weather” try to remove the tyre element
As impressive as the A45 is, would you really get anywhere noticeably quicker day to day... I’d take the 35 and enjoy the 12 grand I think

I’ve never seen a car as consistent as that A45. It has ran a 12.1 every single time it’s been raced
The panamericana grill with those large rounded air dam inlets (which u didn't mention) give the a45s a completely different and a MUCH nicer and more aggressive front. The a45s wheels are🔥and seats are also insane!
The A35 definitely had a bit more sound to it...
