The first one to sing, Tim, is the bass of the group. Tim has a 5 octave range so he can sing super low and high as well. Yeah, Rob (glasses) is a tenor and has a beautiful voice and can sing opera. You might enjoy Amazing Grace by them with Peter Hollens (another A cappella singer). Also, O Holy Night, Angels We Have Heard on High (great arrangement), Silent Night. They sing all genres too. Also Do You Hear What I Hear (arranged by their beatboxer) is great. Good one! You might really enjoy Vincent with Don McLean….it’s wonderful!

As a southern European I am not very used to these traditional religious hymns. But I am accustomed to beauty, and this song is really beautiful. Home Free is a group that I (almost) always find emotional. And you're right, Jeff, the arrangement is an essential element in any recording. Sometimes, even more than the song itself that is performed. Here is a magnificent arrangement of vocals
They are just marvelous- not a bad performance! They recently joined with Don MacLean on Vincent and it’s STUNNING. ❤ This vid today was shot in the Austrian Alps.
A master class in 5-part harmony. Fabulous arrangement by Darren Rust, as usual. Sacred music is not my thing, but the first time I heard this it brought me to tears. Rob Lundquist, the fella who surprised you, has such a smooth, beautiful tenor. He can do so many things - there's rappin' Rob in their Butts Medley, R & B Rob in their cover of End of the Road, and opera Rob in a duet with Austin Brown on Nessum Dorma (that one is on Austin's channel). They are all so talented and versatile. Love these guys.

The arrangement is masterful. And the performance of that arrangement is perfect. They have a range of about 6 octaves, but HF has had those close harmonies since forever. So many reactors are surprised by Rob's tenor voice. But he has a powerful voice when he needs it - you should see his and Austin's take on Nessun Dorma.

I've heard this song hundreds of times over my 77yrs and for me this is the most powerful, emotional rendition I've ever heard. I've listened to this by HF over and over and it still beings me to tears. No other rendition I've heard has left me so emotionally invested. This was filmed while HF was attending an Acapella convention in Europe, they were flying over Austria, inspired by the beauty, they decided to stop and record this song. This area was where "The Sound of Music" was filmed.
The best version I've heard of this song.❤ A song I grew up with because I come from a Christian family where my father and grandmother were pastors. My father, who had a beautiful voice, often sang this at home (in Dutch). Home Free sings this so beautifully in a great scenery that I let my mother (86) hear and show it a year ago. Now she wants to listen to it regularly and has suggested it to her church community to show it there. How Home Free sings it, you don't just hear it, you also feel it. Excellent reaction! IMHO, their best cover arrangement they’ve done is “Take Me Home Country Roads”. It’s so completely different but works sooo well. It’s a Home Fry favorite and not to be missed.
I think this is one of the best versions of this song. Tim Foust's bass really carries the song. I found Home Free 3 years ago & love these 5 talented guys. Their harmonies are the best in the business. This is one of the few songs where you get to hear Adam Rupp's (beatboxer) sweet tenor voice during "It Is Well". I grew up in the church and was in the church choir for several years before I realized I didn’t feel that connection you spoke of. I am no longer religious but I still think some of the most passionate and emotional music ever created was influenced by spiritual beliefs.
I hope I can articulate what i wish to convey. i spent a few years doing kundalini yoga on a daily basis with a kundalini yoga master. i was beginning my meditation practice and he told me to think of the animated yoga postures and breathing exercises as a warm up to my sitting practice, and chanting, whether alone or with a group. the premise was to create the breath and posture needed to allow me to completely relax, sit still for an extended period of time, and intone the words so they would resonate in my chakras. similar to what singing hymns in church does. the goal was to benefit as much as possible from the healing experience. when sitting like this and chanting in a group, or singing with a congregation, the resonance is greater, and even more beneficial. he pointed out that this kind of practice is universal. that it takes many forms and has been a part of all civilizations whether its Tibetan yogis or Gregorian monks chanting, your local church choir, or a group like Home Free singing in the mountains. It achieves the same goals, and it is something that ties us all together regardless of what else we may believe or have faith in. this rendition resonates from the first breath, and just carries us away. ☮❤🙏

Home Free is one of the most vocally talented groups I've ever heard. And I listen to a lot of a capella groups. This soecifc version of this song is so beautiful that listening to it actually makes me feel closer to God. Another song that does that is The Vocal Majority's version of Betelehemu. I'd love to get your reaction to it.
Oh my. I didn't know you were into Christian music too. Lots of Michael W Smith, Chris Tomlin, Kari Jobe, on my list but my favorites are Phillips, Craig & Dean, and 4Him for their fantastic harmonies and Keith Green. I happened to see Keith Green in a tiny church in Thousand Oaks around 1975. Oh man could he sing and play the piano! That was a night I will never forget. As for Home Free I will have to try to get in a request for them doing "Angels We Have Heard on High" around Christmas. Yes, they have tons of good stuff.
Dude, I can't believe this is only the second song of theirs that you have done. This was an outstanding rendition by them in every way. I think what you are referring to is the peace that comes from worship, nothing in the secular realm can compare to communing with the Holy Spirit, and it a shame that so many churches have moved away from the old hymns and the deep lyrics they convey. Their cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash's "Helplessly Hoping", is vocal perfection. th-cam.com/video/kQt9jKDCqHo/w-d-xo.html

The man with the glasses is Rob Lundquist - both he & Austin Brown (long curly hair) are classically trained - Rob primarily in opera. Watch "Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera" (on Austin's channel) - I guarantee surprises!
Very nice analysis ❤❤ #HomeFree
I NEVER HEARD YOU DO A HOME FREE SONG - have asked for one myself - thanks to You for this - INCREDIBLE. GBjj
I just discovered your channel! I’m a Home Fry and I subscribed right away. Every time I see and hear this video, I feel my spirit is uplifted. I think they filmed this in the Swiss Alps. ❤🎶👍

Don McLean dose a master piece American pie confab with Home Free
I did that one too. 👍
@@StrateleStudiosHave you heard their most recent collaboration with Don McLean singing his song *VINCENT* ?? It's stunning!
♥🍟
Dude, I can't believe this is only the second song of theirs that you have done. This was an outstanding rendition by them in every way. I think what you are referring to is the peace that comes from worship, nothing in the secular realm can compare to communing with the Holy Spirit, and it a shame that so many churches have moved away from the old hymns and the deep lyrics they convey. Their cover of Crosby, Stills, Nash's "Helplessly Hoping", is vocal perfection.
