There is a knack to starting these. Ignition off kick over 3 times. Next, ignition on, choke on, kick. Starts first time

I bought my ETZ250 brand new in 1984. I still use it every day. All the Yamahas, Suzukis and the HD have ended up at the breakers.

The side panel is for a bottle of 2 stroke oil. Had a TS250/1 in red and an ETZ. The TS is my favourite ever bike and over 50 years of biking I've owned about 30 bikes.

In my garage, 2 Nortons a V4 Honda, RD350LC, BUT in my Favorite bikes ridden in all time was the MZ250 and 300. 30+ years ago, I would Fly to Turkey, hire a bike and ride the mountains. MZ the most fun, Solo two up and 2 up with luggage, onroad, offroad you were racing Donkeys, Jawas, clapped out Ladas, This was so much fun, they were light, well balanced and EVERYTHING worked. Look, I crossed the Himalayas on a 500 Royal Enfield, some things you have to do... But if they had offered me an MZ250. Now do you remember at school the cute little girl, cute but not beutiful who was like a rocket in bed? That's an MZ.

Originally, all TS models had drum brakes in the front. ETZ was the first model which had disc brakes - initially as an option and since 1984 (I believe) as standard. Somebody installed it here as an accessory which is fully justified since, as we all know, drum brakes are crap ;)

The bike in this video would have started life with a single leading shoe drum brake. Somebody has retro fitted it with a Brembo disc which is a massive improvement

It also started life with a re-counter and a set of indicators

You can't ban any vehicle that already exists on the grounds of people's right to fresh air. That's why you can still use a 1930s Roller.
