Now that's character, principles and values, hats off to Jason for being honest with the other inventors, asking permission and giving the credit due to others who invented some of the other tools.
By far, the most efficient, most bad ass punch layout on the market! Ferrari is right. This setup does it all! And what a precisely machined piece of artwork it is. As wicked as it gets. Way to hustle guys
I think this is a good punch setup for newbies for a couple of reasons. 1) it's an all-in-one unit 2) eliminates the need for spacers. 3) probably relatively cheap in cost. I really like and encourage innovation you guys have done for the hobby. the only problem I see, is a pass-through the die design ,like you did with the 3/4 size punch. I can completely punch three different size coins at the same time it takes you to do one coin. if you could somehow incorporate a pass through design, I too would be in line to buy your punch. God bless and keep those Innovations coming.
OriginalXfyre I made it quick video on my channel per your request. not trying to make a point or criticize Jason's very nice bunch. only to show the efficiency and speed of a through the die punch.
Great design innovation! Of course, there is an "and". : ) instead of, or even in addition to, the double lead threads, this seemed like a tool that would benefit from slotted threads, which are also called rapid threads. I typically see these on woodworking vises. The end result is that the top slides down and is secured with less than a single turn. I would think that three slots, top and bottom would provide an even clamping pressure for this application. I did a quick look for manufacturing methods, but did not have any luck. Love your videos and advice. I am still new to this and hope to advance to needing your tools soon.
Fantastic tools and a great tutorial thanks. With that said, would this kit be suitable for world coins eg Australian minted coins? Once I have punched coins what kit do I then need to form the coin ring?
I want it !!!!! I’ve just started trying to make coin rings. This looks like the easiest way to do that. I’m watching on tv also, you are on a live stream .. When do you do your live streams??? Thanks for your video’s and products. (I will be saving up for this)
3/8 or 7/16 on a quarter? Why not just use a 1/2 inch. With that said look at all these pieces, at this point seems it be easier just to have spacers. Because with spacers you could still punch any size size and you don't need these inserts. I don't know I think if it wasn't for the inserts it be something amazing, but for me it defeats the purpose.
You can use 1/2" if you like, personal preference :) It's nice to choose the band width that works for you. The problem with the spacers is you need a spacer for every coin ever made in the world and if it is worn more than others, it wont be as accurate. Also, if the coin is not perfectly round, the auto punch will average the center automatically.
@@JasonsWorks No you're right I've been doing more research on coins ring making and tools. I'm new to this but since then I've learned quite a bit more. Don't ever let nobody tell you this profession doesn't take much knowledge lol. Like now I get why this punch Is far superior, like being able to change punch sizes just by using an insert, and not having to worry about coin sizes or centering is a thing of beauty. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. Unfortunately it is a little out of my price range hopefully someday I'd be able to get one.
I asked you for some advice and if it was possible as just starting out as I have well over 1000's coins but I really would love one of the master coin to ring sets if you can help me out as not made anything as yet please Help I've been told your the Best of Best thank you regards Andrew
I purchased the autopunch and the 9/16 punch gets stuck in the housing every time....getting it in and out - even with a little lube is a hassle.......do you have any suggestions? It seems that the punch is too thick to fit in.
I have lathe, surface n cylindrical grinding machines if really wanna make long lasting top n bottom housings, I would like to use 440C wit hrc 56°~58° (quiet expensive Magnetic Stainless Steel material) either K110 wit hrc 60°~62° n punches I would like to use SKD-11/XW-41 wit hrc 60°~62° whd u advise? tq dear
Jason! I've watched most of your videos, and I like that you put so much thought into making the process easier and smoother. I have not made a coin ring yet, however my daughter graduates College in December (Michigan State University) and I would like to make a 'class ring' for her. Can you recommend a coin that would have ”2015” visible after the ring is completed. I have 2015 American Silver Eagles, but I am estimating the ring would be very thick by the time it is finished to her size (not sure of size yet). I would like to make the ring myself and am planning on buying your set of tools. I'm hoping you can send some ideas regarding which coin to start with. And, any other practical advice you care to share. Look forward to hearing from you!
Custom Coin Rings USA pretty sure what he is saying is he already spent a bit more then this cost there for wouldnt make any sense to spend about $450. On this and just have the tools he just bought sit and collect dust basically..
Ummm you say you've bought everything under the sun to make coin rings, But this is also under the sun so I think that makes it a requirement that you buy this too!! I mean who doesnt want to spend $500 to simply make a ring worth $20??
Hello! It depends on the kit that you get. The larger the kit, the greater the savings. Here is a link: jasons.works/product-category/auto-punch-coin-ring-tools/ Thanks! j
very nice tool~ you say you're trying to keep cost down but you placed a useless plastic washer inside the assembly as a buffer to keep the inside from rubbing but there's actually no chance of that happening because its securely tightened and the surfaces will not move.... kinda useless and adds to the cost imo.
Are the similar ones on Amazon yours or are they ripoffs? I don't want to give any money to copycats. Sorry if this was covered before in the comments. I'm putting together a tool list. It was your vids that sparked something in the back of my mind. Unfortunately that spark has a habit of costing me a bunch of money so I'm just researching right now.
Great idea and totally in the wheelhouse for the at home machinist . Better than that though Jason . After 40 years of being in shops Ill say that your attitude is beyond reproach . Id love to work in a shop with a couple like you at my side . P.S. ....You wouldn't happen to want to come off with the exact dimensions would you ? : )
I ended up buying a full set of die punches for 250 and they are awsome and will punch any size coin, took a look at jason works 1st and lmao, quite frankly l think he's prices are an absolute joke. If he atleast made it about 300 l would have brought it. instead l brought a great hole punch set elsewhere, you know what they say, you win some, you loose most of the rest of the sales lol
Welcome to the real world pal. Jason and "friends" probably put a couple of hundred hours brainstorming and designing this punch. I would guess initial run was about 20 units. Go get a price on a limited run of a custom machined part add in packaging and /or Etsy, eBay, Credit card fees and see what it cost. (Don't forget to factor in fee to compensate you for when your wife ( no matter how wonderful wife she may be.) gripes about the fact you have the 15 unsold units sitting on the top shelf and you teenager needs braces.
Now that's character, principles and values, hats off to Jason for being honest with the other inventors, asking permission and giving the credit due to others who invented some of the other tools.
Beautiful... I'm so happy it is helping ringers, and they are happy with it...
Just seeing it doesn't say everything. The craftsmanship of this is what you'd expect from Jason. Strong, durable, and meant to last!

Now the washer actually makes sense ;-)
Thanks Jason!

three different size coins, and three different size punches, while filming to show the public? That's impressive Darwin :)
OriginalXfyre sure I'd be happy to. I'll do it video.

This is awesome! kinda wish I would have waited a few more weeks to get my punch. have the older one... ahh!!!
Man if you could retro fit the first version of the punch and die set that would be awesome. I'd buy one for sure.
Can you buy this anywhere?

Hey if you put the same taper on the bottom as on the top, it would start the cupping of the coin?
Where would I be able to get one of these please

I ordered the Sunday before these came out kind of a bummer but the old style will do all I need also
I almost did the same......
I noticed you put the insert upside down on some coins. I thought you always put the insert raised part up.
can i buy the tool?
What is the problem with using a lathe? Just Asking!
What is this product that you pass the tip of the puncher before punching the coin?

@@JasonsWorks sorry I don't have so much money 11.678 rand it is a lot of money

Je suis retraité et j'aimerais beaucoup savoir où l'on peut acheter ce matériel pour fabriquer des bagues à partir de pièces merci d'avance

This is a great tool but for poor artists it is not possible.
way too expensive, i have a method to punch perfectly centered holes in any foreign currency, and i spent only $80 for that and it works perfectly
Yes but as you point out it punches Foreign Currency!!!!! You need this to punch more desirable coins!
347 bucks for that little punch yikes!!!
It’s all good but you are not a very good host
