I am happy to know that crochet cannot be done by machines 😍 also I didn’t know that knit has only two basic stitches ! Thanks a lot for sharing this. I prefer crochet but i love to learn knit 🧶
I am well trained at both Knitting and Crochet...as well as Tunisian ;) All Thanks to my wonderful Nana ! (She's looking down on me from heaven, with much pride that I still remember everything she taught me ) ♡
Thanks for sharing this I get so tired of people saying oh you knit. I say no I crochet and they say it's the same thing and I say no it's not thanks for sharing this
Great video, Shira! I knit and crochet... and I love both. They are both wonderful skills to have, and I am grateful to know how to do both. And... They are most definitely different !
Ok I am a 🧶 lover of yarn and a crocheter or hooker! And I absolutely love the peace it brings me and the fact that I can comfort & or keep someone warm who isn't feeling well. That I L❤VE to be able to do. Luv yah 💕
My Mum, Grandma and Nannie are/were all great knitters whereas I’m the black sheep hooker of the family 😂 I tried so many times to learn to knit and just could not get the hang of it! I absolutely love crochet and really love teaching it too - the more people who can crochet the better!
I don't have a preference. I love doing both. But I have to add crocheting gives you a wide variety of knots, whereas, knitting is limited to knit and purl knits! But both are amazing.
I know it’s a weird reason to get into this, but, I’m chronically ill and can’t get out much. Because of my health issues, I don’t have a lot of excess cash. So I can’t donate to charities and organizations OR go somewhere and help with my time. It... it bothers me. I come from a family where we all do what we can. I’m tired of not being able to help people. I’m into crafts and for a time had a small jewelry business with some complicated beading patterns, so I think I could physically handle it. Especially if I do it in bursts and not for long periods at a time at first, build up a tolerance. Even having my head tilted differently for a while can cause a few days of headaches and neck pain, so I have to be careful. But I want to try. I know that socks are needed for the homeless, they always need more socks. And at women’s shelters, blankets and baby clothes. So in a way, I feel like what I want to make may impact which one I learn. I keep hearing that knitting is harder, but to me it seems like it makes more "sense," the way you transfer the stitch, so maybe I need to just go for it. I also wonder if being left handed will make it any different or harder to learn. 🤔 Thank you for this video clarifying the differences. Since no one in my family does anything like this (the grandmother who did died six years ago and told me I had time to learn when I was older (despite me being 23 at the time, lol). I think she felt self-conscious, like it was an "old lady" craft. She was a rollerblading skydiving road tripping granny, broke her wrist ice skating, so the idea of doing "grandma things" bothered her. If she only knew the resurgence these crafts would have today!
I've been wanting to learn to knit recently (don't know why maybe it's the latest sims 4 pack) and I've been wondering the difference between knitting and crochet so I appreciate this.
I am a very new knitter and cotton yarn is proving to be a big challenge for me. Is it possible that cotton yarn is easier to crochet than to knit because of the hook vs the needle? I'm thinking I should try to learn to crochet. Any advice?
I definitely feel crochet is easier than knitting and you can crochet with anything (rope, wire). However, I usually recommend to beginners I teach to avoid cotton and other plant based fibres at first. Wool and acrylic are better options for beginners because their elasticity make them so much easier to work with. I hope that helps 😃
@@DeanneShoyer Thank you Deanne! I agree that the lack of stretchiness is an added challenge :-(. I have ordered some inexpensive acrylic yarn to use to teach myself enough crochet skills to crochet a dishcloth and then maybe I can use some of this darn cotton yarn I bought! 😆
Je Nell Padilla I feel you! It’s so frustrating that dishcloths seem to be the default beginner project when it uses yarn that is not good at all for beginners 😆 If you’re interested I have a free pattern for beginners where you crochet a single crochet square and then turn it into a cute bunny ☺️
I knit AND crochet. And, I always make the mistake of thinking everyone does both... It just seems right...right? Great video, Shura...Perfect for those who feel confused about which is which.. 💜 BTW... Your hair is gorgeous... 💕
I consider it a badge of honour that my husband and my 19 year old son both can tell the difference between crocheted and knit fabrics.🙂
Some languages do not have separate terms for knit and crochet so they say : "knit with knitting needles" and "knit with a hook".
Like Spanish.

I do both. They compliment each other so well, and I think many people are missing out on doing both crafts together. 💕✌
Crochet or knitting which one is better for a jacket?
I crochet and I’m considering knitting. Do you think it’ll be easier to get the hang of knitting if you know how to crochet?
Thanks for sharing this I get so tired of people saying oh you knit. I say no I crochet and they say it's the same thing and I say no it's not thanks for sharing this
Love this video! I crocheted for years and just recently started knitting in December 2018, I also loom knit. I love them all.

Share this video with someone that gets crochet and knitting mixed up!
Thanks for this brief, helpful explanation. I wasn't raised around any of these handicrafts and my ignorance is absolutely enormous.
I love both crafts. I do tend to crochet more than knit. I laugh when people think that they are the same. They are not. Love both.
“Which craft” me: Witchcraft? 🧙🏼♀️😝
This was really easy to understand. Thank you!
Shared before it was even over...
Love it!!
I love both crafts. Learned both when I was 10. But I find knitting easier. I know many people say the opposite!
Love crochet! I also loom knit and do latch hook :) Great video!!

Crochet or knitting which one is better for a jacket?
Hello, where is your store located in California? Great info🤎🤎🤎
What did you mean by knitting only having 2 stitches? When I look online, I see almost as many as for crochet. Thanks!
Hi MC! Knitting uses combinations of two stitches (knit and purl) to create the different stitch patterns you see.
I love your watch band! Can you say where you found it? So cool.
Thanks for addressing this.....I don’t think I’m the only one that is always correcting people that I crochet, not knit 😂
Can someone please tell youtube this? I get frustrated when I’m looking for knitting videos and only seeing crochet. :/
I know! There’s a lot of patterns for crochet, and only limited ones for Knitting ☹️
there’s so many cute diys for croqueting and non for knitting it’s rlly annoying
in hebrew we use the word "knitting" for both terms and we just say knitting with two needles for knitting and knitting with one needle for crochet
could you please tell me where I can get a bale of wool different colours double knit
