I feel privileged to have been a part of this process. I was working at a servo on the day Zach walked in, it wasn't the day he had the idea from the review, but it was the day before that, where he didn't have any good ideas. And I remember distinctly, I said to him "that'll be $6.99" and he looked at me before saying, "that's quite expensive for a choc top". And I remember myself saying back to him "yeah" and I get quite emotional thinking back to that, because it wasn't $6.99, it had just scanned wrong but back then we just didn't know better. So thank you Zach for letting me be a part of that.
You know, when my primal reaction to a video notification is to say aloud "oh no" in a loving, but kind of disappointed tone, kind of in the way that a parent might say to their child, that's a great indicator to everyone around me that the great folks over at Aunty Donna have released yet another classic Pud video
I keep hoping for a digitally enhanced re-release with newly added digital pud, so we can finally see Christmas Pud as they had originally envisioned it.
@@joshduriden519 I don't like the fact that they digitally removed the guns from the pud sketch, and replaced them with walkie talkies. I'm a purist I guess
My wife said “I don’t want to watch more Pud videos” when I called out that the good lads over at Aunty Donna had uploaded another video. It’s become a holiday tradition at this point. Thank you gents for the wonderful Christmas gift
6 years already? Time flies. When the Pud came out I had just finished middle school, but now I'm married, have three kids and in two months I'll be a grandpa.
Watching pud every year is pretty much a family tradition in my house now I mean, I'm the only one watching it but I feel like the video touches all my family in some form, despite no-one else even knowing what it is
I waited with baited breath for the admission of guilt, or even acknowedgement that there had been wrongdoing. But none came and I passed out from lack of oxygen and now my brain doesn't work so good.
The amount of bravery it takes to make a documentary like this amid the accusations of milking pud is astounding. Pud is the glue that holds our society together, pud is a substance of healing. Some of us have forgotten that, but not me, not Aunty Donna.
Before my father died he called me to his hospital bedside. He told me the wisest words I'll ever hear. "Son," he whispered as I leaned close "Listen to my words and listen well. Never pud the cart before the horse." Then he died. Because of Aunty Donna, I never forget. Thanks dad. Thanks Aunty Donna.
My girlfriend's reaction to me telling her this video came out was a very depressed "oh no. Please don't talk to me about pud". Thanks Aunty Donna for keeping up my favourite Christmas tradition.
i cant wait for the release of the Christmas Pud cook book! it will be great to finally experience the ecstasy of pud for myself, as well as share it with my firends, because when you invest in pud you invest in your friends!
Some might say they are still milking this, but to think that I only had to watch 5 ads during this goes to show that they are only doing this with the love of pud in their hearts
This sketch always makes me think of my friend who was obsessed with Always Room For Pud. He’d show the video to everyone he knew, recite it word for word, he even had an “I love pud” tattoo. Unfortunately his obsession led to him losing his job, and in his depression he developed an unhealthy addiction to pud, cream and brandy custard. He became homeless and eventually ended up in prison, a convicted pudophile.
Man, this brings such a new light to the tortured lives of what it takes to be a groundbreaking part of our culture and the ongoing impact it has on your psyche. I pud never think about how far the ripples of this short artistic expression extend. Thank you for singlehandedly saving Australian comedy with your sketch about pud, Aunty Donna.
I was at the signing in Melbourne! Can confirm, a quarter of the population was lined up. I know this because it was very long. It kept going on and on through laneways and around streets and never stopping. It was like a very long snake, or a line of people. It was incredible. Never seen anything like it. I remember forgetting why I was even there a few hours in waiting to see these incredibly creative people who had created the Pud sketch and the book. It was an event you couldn't miss. Just kept going on and on, that line. Incredible. And then I met the 3 muppets that made the sketch and they were just as excited to see me, like I had bumped into old mates I've not seen in years. That is the power of Pud. Never forget!
My favorite part of the Aunty Donna sketches that aren't part of a professionally produced series is watching Zach be constantly on the verge of laughter. The expression he makes when he's trying to commit to a role but also knows how funny it is to commit to it is so fucking infectious I can't help but start giggling whenever I hear his voice crack or his smile start to form.
I cried several times during this documentary, both tears of joy and sadness. Seeing Zach get emotional at 11 minutes made me bawl my eyes out. Society is too hard on creatives, and I can't believe people would write such awful things. Hearing Zach talk about Browden made me tear up. RIP Brodden "Noddy-land" Keleigh, gone but not forgotten :(
All jokes aside I distinctly remember the first time I watched it. Was in absolute tears with laughter and immediately had to tell my housemates Aunty Donna just made their most perfect sketch.
I discovered aunty Donna about a year ago. I’ve almost completely gotten up to date with the podcast in this time, and have watched a bunch of their sketches… but I have never ever ever ever watched the Christmas pud sketch. The thing is, I think that makes all the jokes about the pud sketch even better
Having more pud is like watching the famous sketch More pud. You simply cannot get enough of it. And its so brave of the boys not to milk this one sketch. I mean having a classic sketch as a book? Who wouldnt want that book. And this documentary is absolute class.
I think everyone has a story of where they were when they first watched Pud. My story is probably like a lot of others, I was sitting at my computer like any other normal day. I came across the Pud sketch on TH-cam. Gave it a watch and was like "hah, that's decent" and then carried on watching other content. A moment in history.
It was very controversial when it came out but the legacy it has had in reshaping both comedy and pud shows that the risk was worth it. I'll never forget where I was the first time I saw it, even thought I really wish I could.
My teacher tagged me on facebook when 'Always Room for Christmas Pud' came out saying "I think you would love this." Admittedly I don't think I laughed once when I watched it but I still replied to her saying "Ha ha! Yeah that was really funny" It wasn't until a few months later that I started getting recommended Aunty Donna's other stuff and found out that they were ACTUALLY ha ha, really funny.
That’s such a funny thing for a teacher to do. Yeah I love these guys and as much as I love their ninety layers of irony and commitment to the bit, I don’t think the original vid is that funny. Everything they’ve done with it after makes me laugh.
I've never thought that a comedy sketch trio could achieve such a level of meta-commentary on the nature of success, nostalgia, revisiting our old ways, and ultimately, the inherent nature of time that is impossible to ignore. We are not on an island in the great and unending stream of time, we are on a boat. And if we're lucky, we'll have some more pud.
Nothing has quite topped my giddy joy at seeing the reuploads of pud over the years boys but you've certainly topped it this time. Well done. Or should I say, well pud.
Every year without fail, I will embrace the pud with the Donna gang. Pud t-shirt, pud book read to my children, pud doormat, and homemade pud for dessert Christmas day. With custard. If that's considered to be milking it, then colour me milked. Or pud. I forget what I was saying.
I’m American and I still don’t really know what a “Pud” is, but my family still gets together to watch this sketch every year. Some might say it’s the one event that really keeps us together.
Seeing Mark and Zach hug after everything that's gone down between them was such a beautiful start to this heartfelt documentary. Also nice to see that they would absolutely never milk their Pud content. That's pretty rare.
I love sharing this with my whole family and friends and then hearing nothing from them and when I see them they look at me awkwardly, just feels right and Christmasy
