Universal really screwed up when they took away the live production feature in the park. Thankfully i was lucky enough to have visited in the 90s as a kid and get to experience nick studios, terminator, jaws, etc. I seen double dare, legends, gas, all that and clarissa! Glorious time.
I think the Nickelodeon fans are wanting this beloved studios to come back to Universal Orlando, and I don’t blame them. Maybe that could happen in the future!
As a functional production studio? No way. The reason they closed was because Nickelodeon shifted its focus from audience participation game shows that could knock out three to five episodes a day to scripted comedies that only put out one episode a week. This required a ton of writing, acting, and producing talent that was far more abundant in Los Angeles than in Orlando - and with Florida's notoriously anti-union right-to-work labor laws, most of those actors and crewmembers were unenthusiastic about flying back and forth across the country just to work in an environment that offered fewer benefits. Gradually over the course of the '90s, all Nickelodeon's production naturally migrated back to LA out of necessity. Orlando just didn't have the ability to support a full-time television production studio. The only way I could see Nickelodeon returning to Orlando would be as a facility like a museum. A walkable history of Nickelodeon that pays tribute to its 45-year-and-counting history - that could be fantastic. But moving its production facilities back out there would not only be pointless, it'd be actively detrimental.
Wow! Thanks for sharing. I was fortunate enough to do the Nickelodeon studios tour in probably '94 and I was SO start struck by the whole experience. Seeing the Aggro Crag mountain from Guts blew my mind. I even stole a little bit of left over glitter and was so nervous I would get in trouble, lol. When we walked on the cat walk over looking the Gullah Gullah Island set, the lady that played the mom came out and waved to us, it made our day. The 90's had to have been the best time to be a kid.
Omg how awesome 💕 It was every 90's kids dream to go to Nickelodeon Studios! I finally went to Universal Orlando in June it was definitely surreal being there after seeing the Universal "globe" every day for my whole childhood. lol. What a cool video thanks for sharing! 💚
This is so eerily scary...almost beautiful. I go to Universal weekly and i always think about Nick studios and cant imagine these kids walked the halls of these same sound stages that are now rides
This was epic, great video! I loved visiting the Nick Studios when I was a tween. On the studio tour I saw Clarissa Explains it All and Nick Arcade. I remember the Gak Kitchen and Double Dare games at the end. Great memories.
I definitely remembered Clarissa Explains it All and Double Dare. I couldn't remember the rest but we must have seen the Nick Arcade too and other places. :3
I always wanted to go on this tour and unfortunately it closed before I was ever able to do so. Thank you so much uploading this. It let me finally fulfill one of those dreams I thought I'd lost.
Thank you so much for posting this! I grew up in South FL in the 90's that place was the equivalent of Shangri-la for kids. I don't remember much, the Jaws ride captured most of my attention. But I remember sitting on those bleachers holding my hand up to get called for a game... I sat silently and perfectly still like we were taught in class, looking back that's why they didn't call me LOL
This takes me back! XD I remembered my family taking me and my brother to Universal Studios in the summer of 92(or was it 93? I need to ask my mother for that) and the park was so different back then. I defiantly remembered the parking lot and the tram, including Nickelodeon Studios(went inside and saw some sets from Clarissa Explains it All as well as game studios of Double Dare), Hana Barbara ride, Kongfrontation, Earthquake, Jaws, Ghostbusters, Terminator, ET and Back to the Future. I'm so glad we were able to experience the rides and shows before they closed down(except ET).
This family is so lucky to have this I would give anything to have video footage from my childhood. I imagine these kids are in their 30s now with kids of their own... idk if they came across this video but i bet they would love to see it
It’s crazy. I was here exactly 2 months to the day later. I was 3 years old. That parking lot in the beginning no longer exists. It was so cool being in the lot and looking at the Nickelodeon Studios front from all the TV outro’s you would see. Still remember the elevator, and bathrooms. The air conditioning was to this day something I’ve never felt. It was so cool and refreshing, it was as if they had a complete climate controlled AC with humidity and even aroma control.
Fun Fact: Nickelodeon Slime was both edible, easily washable (it could actually be used to wash strangely), and it was hypoallergenic in some blends. They had four different types of slime (chunky which was made with oatmeal, watery, gooey which they also called gak, and the classic slime)
well at least u got 2 see one show set up, I visited nick Studios I think twice once in 1991 or 1992 I think it was and again in 2000 only 2 bad for my second go-around I didn't see any show sets.
How was it like going to the Nickelodeon studios!? I grew up with Nickelodeon but never went to the studios because I wasn’t a 90s kid I’m a 2000s baby😔
It was amazing, I've been there for what I think three or four times before it closed down. I am sorry you and others didn't have a chance to experience it. :( If it makes you feel any better, I wished I could have gone to other rides that no longer exist in other theme parks but sadly, most of them were gone or replaced with different ride themes. Thankfully, our parents have video cameras to record our trips and upload them here for you and everyone else to see to keep the memories alive. :3 There are a lot of family videos here on TH-cam that are recorded on other rides like Kongfrontation(an amazing ride but scary for us kids!) for everyone to see.
@@meredith_vintage I actually got to visit Nickelodeon Studios twice. Once was in 1995 I want to say and the second time was I believe 98 or 99. The second time I went, I actually got to participate in a Game Lab game.
Thats crazy.. GAK is a slang word for cocaine or heroin.. with all this nickelodeon stuff going around right now.. i was curious to see what gak meant. Crazy
I’m Finally going to universal. Anyone have any must see spots related to Nickelodeon? I’d love the locations of where Kenan and kel intro was filmed or if there were others? Is the slime tile restroom still accessible ? Any other hidden gems ?
This is a late response, but as far as I know, there arent much Nickelodeon spots at universal at this point unfortunately. They have a spongebob store, which might have additional Nickelodeon merch. I BELIEVE the kenan and kel opening was shot in Citywalk in California, not the Florida location, but I could be wrong
It’s sucks that I was born to late when they took everything down of the Nickelodeon studios I was only few days old when it happened I will be shocked, surprised and going wild if I was born in the 1990’s or early 2000’s to go there stupid mtv making them to took the Nickelodeon studios down I really really wish that mtv got cancelled or bankrupt to make the new Nickelodeon studios with that same building also the new design I really really hope so in the future
The 90s was something special. The best time to be a kid.
When it came to Nickelodeon & CN we millennials got SPOILED lol
For real
Queijo child not over
I miss Nickelodeon Studios, and I want it to come back in Orlando, Florida.
1990-1996 was a great time for Nickelodeon Studios, shows were being filmed left and right over there at that time period
but you know what Dan Schneider did? :(
@@keirysujehe produced All That and everything.
TH-cam is the closest thing we have to a Time Machine.
I wish I did have an actual time machine. I wouldn't go back far. Just far enough to be a kid again.
Being a kid in the 90’s was an epic feeling, can’t even explain it. I always wanted to go to Nick studios. Never got the chance 😢

How about California instead of Orlando so actors and crew members won’t go back and forth across the country

0% chance. Kids these days would rather spend all day scrolling through TikTok and all night playing xbox
