Thank you Matt Fouch for interviewing Wes Hampton he speaks from the heart and he loves the Lord. Wes Hampton is my favorite singer Wes may God continue to watch over you and your family and continue to bless you has you share the love of Jesus through your songs
I love wes Hampton voice he has a beautiful tenor voice love to hear him sing he is here I can feel the holy spirit all over the song gives me goosebumps he puts so emotion into it this guy is genuine with his walk with God got to see him and the gaither vocal band at Wallace memorial great concert
Wes sang "He is Here" on a Gaither video, with a string quartet around a piano with David and Michael, and I was so moved, as he was totally given over to the song and so touched by the Spirit that he seemed "somewhere else" and I was moved to tears to see such a beautiful prayer being sent out by a true minister of the Lord. That is his gift.
It is just that quality that you were talking about---the Larnell qualility---that has made you my favorite member of the GVB. "I'll Pray for You" drops me to my knees every time.
From a business standpoint, it really surprises me that the members of The Gaither Vocal Band aren’t employees of Gaither Music. Since Wes, Adam and Reggie do solo work aside from their GVB concerts, they are likely independent contractors when doing their GVB dates. From a ticketing perspective, Gaither Homecoming concerts are on the most expensive end of Gospel music tickets and GVB is always the headlined group. I would think Bill Gaither would be adamant about taking care of his singers making them employees of Gaither Music so they could continue to support their families during this time, as Matt mentioned that his position is salaried with L5. The Gaithers and Gaither Music have made a lot of money over the years in song royalties and concert revenues. They continue to do so as fans download GVB and Gaither Homecoming music during this time. Disappointing the guys in GVB aren’t being paid when other groups are continuing to pay their singers. Blessings to the Fouch and Hampton families!
The scale that the GVB is paid at is "probably" far in excess of what the salaried groups are paid. Plus, Wes is singing with the band with his eyes wide open and I doubt very seriously that he would willingly place his family in an economically disadvantaged situation for 15 years.
I love you Wes Hampton
