@@chukkpurdy5151Are you referring to this video? The LED bulbs were on the left side and the incandescent bulbs were on the right side of the screen throughout the entire video, so I don't understand your question. The reason why the LED bulbs don't blink when connected to the old style flasher is because the old style flasher needs more current than the LEDs can draw, to heat the bi-metallic strip inside of the old flasher. The heating and cooling of the bi-metallic strip is what causes the contacts inside the old flasher to open and close. The opening and closing of the contacts is what makes the lights blink.

Bimetallic switch. I literally just posted a schematic of that part on another video. Far as the led pulse goes it just a bistable 555 timer ic. Square wave generator. Reversing those wires could destroy cheap led flashing circuits that do not have reverse voltage protection. To be honest they should include a full bridge rectifier circuit with that flasher so as to allow it to work correctly even if you reverse the wire connections.
Great Video !!! its so simple when its in this form. . Question, what about hanging dashboard bulbs to LED, what happens to the dim feature. any options to make it work ?
I’m not familiar with those trucks, but you could definitely just make a jumper wire from one flasher to another with 4 spade connectors and some wire.
I bought some aftermarket smoked headlight assemblies that have the halogen bulbs in them for the headlight but the bottom ones is just a LED bar that turns yellow when you cut on your turn signal and then when it goes back off and turn back white for the driving lights had resistors in there from the factory but still hyperflash so I bought a lm487 LED flasher for a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 that is supposed to be for LEDs but it still don't flash right and then it makes my trailer brake lights when I've got it hooked up to a trailer not work I could take the original GMC one it's stick in there and the trailer brake lights will work any clues of what I can do
Unfortunately I’m not super familiar with the workings of those style lights, so I don’t think I can be of much help. Have you tried contacting the seller of them? Maybe they can provide a wiring diagram /schematic?
I just upgraded to Led turn signals and mine flash "but" mine flash at twice the normal bulb speed. Question ⁉️ Do you think this might cause early burn out of the control system?
Very very interesting and informative. My problem is on a Harley Road King . Switched the OEM front Amber Signal / running Lights for a LED Arlen Ness light bar . The Tech. said that they were suppose to be Dim when Blinking . They are maybe 20 % brighter when they Signal , maybe less. No Hyper Flash , just weak weak signaling . Do you think a Flasher would fix that ? I;ve been thinking I needed an Equalizer or Resistor and have to splice into the wires.
Hey, any update on this? I’m having the same problem the led lights dim instead of actually flashing which I feel is less useful than the oem halogen bulbs because they also stay on constantly just dim when using them
My turn signals and flashers used to work and now they quit soni bought a led flasher since it has leds and now the turn signals light up solid but the 4 ways flash its on a 94 volvo l46 semi dunptruck any idea why any tips would be greatly appreciated
Absolutely love your content and has given me the inspiration to build my own loom from Scratch for my landrover. I’m just wondering my led flasher unit that came with the lights has three pins + L and -. I assume it wires in the same way I just need to earth the flasher unit
Very good info you are putting out. I put led's in a '95 Ford Ranger and now when I use the turn signal lever they all come on and hyper flash. it has a turn signal flasher relay and that's it. I'm kind of stumped.
@@WiringRescue It is now. I changed it to an EP27 and hyper flash is gone. I still have a back feed issue to the turn/stop light. I will try some diodes to fix it.
I just put red LEDs on my rear turn signals and one of them doesnt turn on.. regular amber bulb works fine i know here is current.. i tried the the LED bulbs on the working side and the bulb is working too.. any idea what Might be going on?
What happens if you upgrade your motorcycle turn signals front and rear (different led signal products front vs rear) and swap the relay for an LED one, but the rear signals work properly and the front ones stay solid and don't blink?
I have change to LED flasher, but some how the T10 LED not blinking and still on when I change the polarity. But is blinking when using bulb or combine LED and Bulb. Please help~
I'd like to add 1 thing.. for motorcycles that are still having issues after swapping in an LED flasher, check if you have an incandescent indicator bulb on the gauge. This will most likely solve the issue. Either just remove the bulb or replace it with an LED.
Any of the gauge lights ? I’ve got a led strip and led flasher relay on a CT1 175 6V and the lights work correctly but won’t flash. I only 4 bulbs total in the gauges (tac and Speedo) must I replace all of them with LED?
Awesome video ! My problem is my LED turn signals work , but when I turn on my running lights or Headlights which are also LED They wont blink anymore but with Running lights and headlights off they do.
@@MattS-w1b yes after much hardship I found I still had regular bulbs in my front fender turn signal indicators and was causing interruption so if you have regular bulbs in line with LEDs even with led turn signal and hazard flasher
What if you have LED's that the running light is ON all the time, and Flash as a turn signal. I have a set that the running light will work but won't flash. If I disconnect the "third" wire for the running light I can get the turn signal to work flawlessly. Yes, I have and LED turn signal relay installed.
Why would my led bulbs not blink. I have led blinkers with led flasher with ground. Everything else works fine. They work fine when I switch back to regular bulbs. So my problem is not the flasher. What can it be? Thank you!
Hello! I have a 1992 Ford Ranger Custom Super Cab with the 2.3 in it. I have put several different types of LED bulbs in my truck and they won't blink at all. I saw this video and thought that this was my problem. Nope. I cannot find a flash relay that will fit in my truck. My truck flash relay is round and the LED electronic ones are square or rectangle. You can't fit a square or rectangle in a round hole. I have bought and tried several round flasher relays that state they are for LED's but they do not fix the problem. What do I need to do to get my blinkers and my 4-way flashers to work.
hello sir. i already change to led flasher. but my blinker still dont blink. i switch between wire also. still not a chance. my motorcycle has 3 pin( L B E) and my flahser has 2 pin.
Wow, I hate driving around with witchcraft in my vehicle but I guess it’s good to let others know when I’m turning. No reality I didn’t know about the reverse polarity. Thanks for that tip ! Good job
It’s actually two relays. I have lots more videos showing how to build this circuit. Check out my playlist youtube.com/@WiringRescue?si=idehxtTfhPfl8Eja
As you may expect, I'm not super familiar with 64 Imperial window wiring. However, I'm good at guessing! You'll have to do some exploring of wiring to harness to figure out which wires do which. Here are my thoughts: - You'll need 1 relay per window, so 4 total most likely. - The window switch probably (?) sends power to the window motor (as opposed to ground). This means that you'll be connecting that power wire from each switch to pin 86 on the relays. - Pin 85 on the relays are grounds. - Pin 30 on the relays should be the power coming in from a fuse box. If I were you, I'd buy one of these. vincentperformance.com/shop/leash-bdfb/ to grab all of your power from. Feed that fuse box power from the battery (with a fuse in that main wire), and then each of the fuses in this panel can power a relay/window. - Pin 87 on each relay will feed the power to each window motor. - Use all new wiring to be safe. Hope that helps you out! -Jeremy
@@WiringRescue Hey thank you for the information! And no I expect you to know every car that's ever been made lol 😜 but really just a general overview helped alot! I'll have to get my service manual out and start working with the wires soon!
I try to help as many as I can! A service manual with a wiring diagram would be outstanding for a project like that. New wiring would probably make the motors and switches waaaay happier than the original stuff.
I don’t believe you could make the circuit work that way, because the switch is just turning the relay on and off. It’s totally separate from the flashers.
Okay that was an awesome video. So please tell me this. I have some cheap OEM blinkers I'm trying to put in the front of my 71 K5. When I have the parking lights on it will flash and everything works properly. When I have the parking lights off, only the back incandescent ones will flash. This seems completely opposite of what you're saying. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I'm so frustrated at this point it's not even funny. Do you think a no load LED flasher with the ground would work? I'm at my Wit's end here. An awesome video. Even a dummy dummy like me was able to understand most of it, lol
@@WiringRescue no such luck I tried putting the new led kind in but still no blinks, nothing it works fine for incandescent lights just not the led ones, enen tried changing both the flasher and the hazard flasher with the new led able ones nothing had to put the incandescent lights back in, any ideas?
I added led lights to my tractor and the hazard light no long flashed my LED gets brighter but no flash.. So If I can find where the flasher relay is and swap it with one of these flashers that should fix it
Issues I'm having with my LEDs turn signals is the fronts work now with an LED flasher but as soon as I install the rear turn signal led lights the turn signals no longer work but S soon as a plug in the original lights the turn signals work again. So front LED lights work great and rears I can't get to work.
Hi @Rattymusclecar, Thank you for that informative video! I've seen 3 videos of yours today and learnt 3 new things! All relevant to my current builds. I have a somewhat off beat question about Hazard lights though. Perhaps you can help? For reference, I live in Australia, and, whilst we have GM products here (Holden) there are of course differences between GM & GMH. I have recently purchased a 73 C10 Stepside. It's two trucks put together, the donor being a mid 80s truck/Blazer. In my efforts to make it roadworthy, I noticed there are two spaces for flasher cans in my wiring, one for directional and one for hazards, no problem there, replace missing one and truck is one step closer to roadworthy! I've had a fair few GM products before (AUS only) but have never seen two flasher cans. Is this a North American regulation or something? I've already subscribed! Sweet Le Mans too
Thanks for subscribing! I don’t have a definite answer to your question, but I do have a guess that is probably wrong. With the car off, you want your turn signal switch and all of its functional magic to be dead. Otherwise you’d always find them blinking in grocery story parking lots without anybody in the car. However, you want your hazard switch available all the time if you car is off and your keys were stolen by a group of zombies. For some reason, GM decided that wiring it this way was smarter. In my hazard switch video, you’ll notice that my turn signals would work 24/7 and so would the hazard switch. It doesn’t matter if the car is on or off. In the interest of keeping life simple, I designed it that way. Maybe I’ll do the more complex version too… hmmm Good luck with you truck project, and thanks for the question!
@@WiringRescue I just realised what I said was actually incorrect haha. The car I'm thinking of doesn't actually have hazard lights, so of course there's no additional flasher can. I'll check out some later models and see when they started to put them in. But now, thanks to your hazard flasher video, I'll be putting them in!
I want to try your system I think this is the solution to my problem, When I momentarity use blinker they but does not when I engage the lever fully, I have these digi-tails set up. Im having a hard time following your video, please send me a diagram of your wiring set up. Solutions from digi-tail did not work, Pleas Help!
On my 2002 Silverado I'm installing all LED bulbs in the truck. I upgraded the stock flasher relay module under the dash with a new one to keep the LED's from hyper flashing. So today on the driver left side I put in the new turn signal LED bulbs with resistors for the higher lumen 3157 flashing rear bulb, and one 3157 bulb for the front. As well one front side mini flashing LED bulb that is lower lumens without a resistor. This was on the left/driver side of my truck. When I tested the left side, the turn signal in the back and both front signals were flashing. Then the mini flashing LED bulb stopped working. So I swapped it with a different mini LED bulb, and nothing, no flashing. I even tried a resistor on it, and nothing So I took the resistor and mini LED out of the left light socket and put back in the stock incandescent bulb, and it still wouldn't work. Now what is happening is the front 3157 & back 3157 largef turn signal bulbs that should flash. They just stay illuminated even though the left turn signal is not turned on. What could this be, because at first the front mini LED flashing turn signal along with the two 3157 bulbs front and back were all flashing fine. With that said before I installed all the bulbs, I did clean all the light bulb sockets with fast drying electrical spray/protectant. Though non of the other LED light bulbs had a problem. I thought about buying and splicing new mini light bulb sockets on the front. Then it got dark so I couldn't do anything else. And I don't believe it's a blown fuse or the front and back turn indicators wouldn't just stay illuminated. I'm totally stumped on what to do, could you please help me, thank you. ~Carl
It’s tough to diagnose electrical issues from afar. If this was my truck, I’d start by putting the stock bulbs all back into place along with the factory flasher relay. Then I would make 1 change at a time and test the functionality after each change. It’s also worth noting that some of the LED bulbs and LED flasher relays are not the highest quality in the world. So it is certainly possible that you may simply have a bad part. Good luck in the diagnosis! Electric stuff is rarely fun to diagnose, but always leaves me with a great sense of accomplishment.
@@WiringRescue , Thank You! Tomorrow, what I think I might try is adding all my new LED bulbs on the right side of my truck to see if they all work. Hopefully if I don't have any issues with the right side front turn indicators then it shouldn't be the new flasher relay module, correct? If not then maybe I got some bad switchback LED bulbs. And or my old stock T10 light socket is bad, it was slightly corroded. I will also check with stock bulbs. In your experience is a resistor needed for a low watt switchback/flashing T10 LED? I really appreciate your advice, was very nice of you to reply quickly.
I am not an expert at swapping to the new t10 LED bulbs, but I don’t know why you would even need a resistor if you have the proper LED flasher in place. Seems like it would be unnecessary to me, though I’ve never done it.
@@WiringRescue , Just like in your video when you turned the flasher the wrong direction. Well you have to pay careful attention to which direction you put the upgraded LED Bulbs and relays in the turn light indicator sockets. 1. They won't work right. 2. The relays will get extremely HOT! I fixed it, but boy was it time consuming!!!
Thank You for watching the LED Flasher video!

Far as the led pulse goes it just a bistable 555 timer ic. Square wave generator.
Reversing those wires could destroy cheap led flashing circuits that do not have reverse voltage protection. To be honest they should include a full bridge rectifier circuit with that flasher so as to allow it to work correctly even if you reverse the wire connections.
please what is the part number for that LED relay i NEED a 2 pin one like yours that does not require negative to operate
Incredible! Thank you for educating us!
Great Video !!! its so simple when its in this form. . Question, what about hanging dashboard bulbs to LED, what happens to the dim feature. any options to make it work ?
Do you have a link to one that will work for my truck? I have a 1990 F-150 and the flasher is round.
Good explanation.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch.
Hi dear how are you dear? Can you explain to me how it works?
Very very interesting and informative. My problem is on a Harley Road King . Switched the OEM front Amber Signal / running Lights for a LED Arlen Ness light bar . The Tech. said that they were suppose to be Dim when Blinking . They are maybe 20 % brighter when they Signal , maybe less. No Hyper Flash , just weak weak signaling . Do you think a Flasher would fix that ? I;ve been thinking I needed an Equalizer or Resistor and have to splice into the wires.
Hey, any update on this? I’m having the same problem the led lights dim instead of actually flashing which I feel is less useful than the oem halogen bulbs because they also stay on constantly just dim when using them
Thank you so much.. At last I can reinstall my new led blinkers and they will work 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤
My turn signals and flashers used to work and now they quit soni bought a led flasher since it has leds and now the turn signals light up solid but the 4 ways flash its on a 94 volvo l46 semi dunptruck any idea why any tips would be greatly appreciated
Is your LED flasher wired backwards? They generally only work one way. If you wire them backward, you get lights that turn on but dont flash.
You nailed it for me! Thank you!
Awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Absolutely love your content and has given me the inspiration to build my own loom from Scratch for my landrover. I’m just wondering my led flasher unit that came with the lights has three pins + L and -. I assume it wires in the same way I just need to earth the flasher unit
Thank you. Helped a lot.
You're welcome! I appreciate you watching!
Very good info you are putting out. I put led's in a '95 Ford Ranger and now when I use the turn signal lever they all come on and hyper flash. it has a turn signal flasher relay and that's it. I'm kind of stumped.
Is the flasher meant for LED bulbs?
@@WiringRescue It is now. I changed it to an EP27 and hyper flash is gone. I still have a back feed issue to the turn/stop light. I will try some diodes to fix it.
@@BustedKneeAdventures - awesome! Sounds like good progress at least!
I just put red LEDs on my rear turn signals and one of them doesnt turn on.. regular amber bulb works fine i know here is current.. i tried the the LED bulbs on the working side and the bulb is working too.. any idea what
Might be going on?
Just a question - would a 3 pin relay be better than a 2 pin relay? The 3 pin of course has the optional extra earth terminal. Just wondering. Thanks
What happens if you upgrade your motorcycle turn signals front and rear (different led signal products front vs rear) and swap the relay for an LED one, but the rear signals work properly and the front ones stay solid and don't blink?
Great instructional video thanks
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!
Great video...pls make one to show us the wiring for strobe flasher
I have change to LED flasher, but some how the T10 LED not blinking and still on when I change the polarity. But is blinking when using bulb or combine LED and Bulb. Please help~
Thanks for all your info
Thank you for watching!
I'd like to add 1 thing.. for motorcycles that are still having issues after swapping in an LED flasher, check if you have an incandescent indicator bulb on the gauge. This will most likely solve the issue. Either just remove the bulb or replace it with an LED.
Great info! Thanks for sharing it and watching the video!
Any of the gauge lights ? I’ve got a led strip and led flasher relay on a CT1 175 6V and the lights work correctly but won’t flash. I only 4 bulbs total in the gauges (tac and Speedo) must I replace all of them with LED?
Video suggestion.
Swapping headlights for LED. The catch: headlights double as DRL. However, LEDs flicker when DRL is active only.
Awesome video ! My problem is my LED turn signals work , but when I turn on my running lights or Headlights which are also LED They wont blink anymore but with Running lights and headlights off they do.
Did u ever figure out what to do? I have the exact same problem and it's hard to find a straight simple answer.
@@MattS-w1b yes after much hardship I found I still had regular bulbs in my front fender turn signal indicators and was causing interruption so if you have regular bulbs in line with LEDs even with led turn signal and hazard flasher
Great video.
Thank you!
You’re welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Best explanation thanks
Thanks this really help.
Learned that last week. Amazon has the flasher for 10 bucks.
Sure does! Thanks for watching!
Another great video!
hello sir. i already change to led flasher. but my blinker still dont blink. i switch between wire also. still not a chance. my motorcycle has 3 pin( L B E) and my flahser has 2 pin.
Thank you
Wow, I hate driving around with witchcraft in my vehicle but I guess it’s good to let others know when I’m turning.
No reality I didn’t know about the reverse polarity. Thanks for that tip ! Good job
Whats the black box in the centre of the board?
It’s actually two relays. I have lots more videos showing how to build this circuit. Check out my playlist youtube.com/@WiringRescue?si=idehxtTfhPfl8Eja
Hey I have a 1964 Imperial with power windows, but I'd like to add relays to them. Can you show how to do it? 😀
As you may expect, I'm not super familiar with 64 Imperial window wiring. However, I'm good at guessing! You'll have to do some exploring of wiring to harness to figure out which wires do which. Here are my thoughts:
- You'll need 1 relay per window, so 4 total most likely.
Is it possible to add the flasher before the switch instead of the relay
I don’t believe you could make the circuit work that way, because the switch is just turning the relay on and off. It’s totally separate from the flashers.
Thank you sir!
Happy to help!
Love your videos! witchcraft for the win!
Thank you! 😂 I’m glad you are enjoying the content. Be sure to check out my wiring playlist if you haven’t already. There is some good stuff there!
Even a dummy dummy like me was able to understand most of it, lol
installed dc flasher but the leds do not completely shut off between the flashers......ned solution pls...
Good video sar

Perfect thanks
Your very welcome! Thank you for watching it!
Hey Ratty do you have a video on lighting with rocker type switches ...jw
I’ve got a lot of wiring videos, but I mostly use toggle switches because they are easier to show on the video. Sorry :(
@@WiringRescue Thanks Bro I will keep you up on my Golfcart install ...thanks again

😘😘😘😘Hi dear how are you dear? Can you explain to me how it works?
Maybe I’ll do the more complex version too… hmmm
Good luck with you truck project, and thanks for the question!
@@derekormsby798 - haha! Well whatever direction you go, just know that I am truly thrilled that people in Australia are watching my videos!
@@WiringRescue that's sweet as man! I'll tell my friends to check your channel out!

heh heh... witchcraft is closer to home than we might hope.. thanks man.👌👌 good stuff
Thank you so much
Helped me on my 1982 cb650
😌😌Hi dear how are you dear? Can you explain to me how it works?
So I don't need a load resistor?
Where I buy led flasher
There are links in the description of the video for all the items I used, including the flasher.
I even tried a resistor on it, and nothing
So I took the resistor and mini LED out of the left light socket and put back in the stock incandescent bulb, and it still wouldn't work.
@@WiringRescue ,
Just like in your video when you turned the flasher the wrong direction.
Well you have to pay careful attention to which direction you put the upgraded LED Bulbs and relays in the turn light indicator sockets.
1. They won't work right.
2. The relays will get extremely HOT!
I fixed it, but boy was it time consuming!!!
