Lois Smith is still acting today at 94. She's been in TV series like Sneaky Pete, Ray Donovan, the new Law and Order Organized Crime, and Gossip girl, just in the past 2 years.
in all the screen tests of James Dean i see on him that lack of love he was feeling!! 2:05 all in the tests are so correct, giving sparks of their characters...but Jim´s greatness is that he creates an incredible mix between his own spontaneity and the feelings and actions of his characters!!!
She has such an unusual, compelling quality. She wasn't "Hollywood pretty", but those eyes and that slightly crooked smile.... you can't take your eyes off her.
She was in True Blood as the grandmother, and she deserved an Emmy for her role in The Americans. I wonder how many people recognize her in the older roles she plays now.
She also played in the film "Hollywoodland" as George Reeves (Ben Affleck) mother who hires the Detective (Adrien Brody) to investigate her son's death.
James Dean is effective to watch with music because he was very physical and less verbal. Like all great actors he knew how to express himself when he acted and this was magic to the camera. And in our world we talk a lot but very little do we express ourselves physically and in a way which is honest and simple. Perhaps we feel we would stand out to much or in fear of being ridiculed for who we are. Safer to keep the mask on but is it rewarding? Hell no.
Hi I already replied to you but I thought it’d be better to answer it here. Unfortunately I don’t remember the music I used in this video, but I found it in the music options from the Splice app if that helps.
@@sparklingwaterfallsYes, I saw that. I made this comment here first and when you didn't reply I asked on another video you just uploaded. So much music on the Splice app, I dont think I will ever be able to find this beautiful piece unfortunately. Thank you again.
@@senorromantico7723 Ah really sorry I couldn’t be of better help. I’m hoping someone is able to figure out the music used in this video and can reply back here with the answer.
I believe a screen test like this is done more so during the casting/pre-production phase; it's purpose is to allow for the director, cinematographer, casting, etc. to get a visual feel for the on screen chemistry between actors. Lighting is determined and done on the spot during filming and is reviewed and examined at the end of each day after filming (called dailies). The exposed film reels were taken to special expedited film photo labs that developed the film and the "dailies" were then rushed back to the studio/set for the crew to either review it same day or the next morning. Lighting would then be examined and adjusted if needed. This is of course only regarding classic film production. Nowadays, digital video allows for immediate playback and review on set.
This beats any tik tok any day, these beautiful people actually have real skin texture not all filtered and digitized up.
"No Makeup on anyone" is written on the blackboard - in the beginning. ❤

What a wonderful video! The chemistry of both actors is obvious. Eternal flame of unforgetten James Dean accompanied by great actress Lois Smith.

Sexier than most explicit films I've seen--every look and touch has meaning.

She was in East of Eden. She was the girl in the brothel that showed him where the owner was. ;)
She had already been cast. She plays Ann. She works at the brothel.
@@cwbrooks5329 she was in the film. She’s one of the workers at Cal’s mom’s brothel. She is wearing the costume she wore in the film.
