    How he struggles, he's doing everything to get her attention, that she opens her heart ~ to him. There's no doubt in his look, in his touching - she in her shyness is save.
    That's a big part of what makes him so extraordinaryly attractive, his need his obsession to be loved? To get out of this lonliness in his body. This desire, his need, his shyness. And its all worth for ~ he gives it all back, his love.
    They both look so relaxed, beautiful and happy, when they are in touching, hugging each other at last.
    Thats what i see ... ❤️
    Its a masterpiece of this game ~ of Appeal, Empathy and bonding, ...

      Dear Marianne 3067- though posted 1 year ago, we two, came to the same conclusion. I'd like to share a dream I had a couple months ago, it was about Jimmy Dean, though I don't have a strong devotional fan base with him, he came to me and was very nice, showing me the chassis of his ruined Spyder!!?? He had taken the car apart and had painted the piece a bright yellow! Very friendly and engaging!! The next part of the same dream we sat talking, he was like a sweet child needing to connect!?? Afterwards I made a resolution to keep him in my thoughts and prayers!!! I hope you like my story! Strange Eh??

    What a sweet screen test!! The girl seems so sweet yet shy! And, poor James, he's doing his very best! You really feel for him! All he wants here is just to be loved! Seems to be the very story of his sad life! God rest him, sweet boy, sweet lonely soul!

    Lois Smith is still acting today at 94. She's been in TV series like Sneaky Pete, Ray Donovan, the new Law and Order Organized Crime, and Gossip girl, just in the past 2 years.

    • @gerardmackay8909
      @gerardmackay8909 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      ‘Basic dud’ Julie Harris was one of the finest actresses of her generation and she performed beautifully in EoE. On the other hand Lois was enchanting in her brief work as the saloon girl but was not experienced enough to take on the heftier role of Abra. Basically Kazan knew what he was doing, you and I don’t.

    • @frsothman
      @frsothman 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ dude she has absolutely no chemistry with jimmy & everyone can now see lois & jimmy! as great as julie was an actress she was not right for this role! and most people seem to agree! we’re going by the eye test & what we see. kazan was wrong & so are you. harris brought absolutely nothing to this role she is unequivocally dean’s most forgetful love interest in any of his films to most peope & the screen dosent lie. ✌️

      @gerardmackay8909 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@frsothman however you don’t speak for ‘everyone’ merely yourself. I thought Harris on the ferris wheel gave a performance of pent up yearning that was palpable and Jimmy acted his socks off too. Neither of us is the holder of the definitive truth, we have opinions which differ that’s all.

  • @itsgleneaton4883

    James Dean is effective to watch with music because he was very physical and less verbal. Like all great actors he knew how to express himself when he acted and this was magic to the camera. And in our world we talk a lot but very little do we express ourselves physically and in a way which is honest and simple. Perhaps we feel we would stand out to much or in fear of being ridiculed for who we are. Safer to keep the mask on but is it rewarding? Hell no.

    Was this a screen test or directions to figure out lighting for scenes?

    • @zachham1949
      @zachham1949 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I believe a screen test like this is done more so during the casting/pre-production phase; it's purpose is to allow for the director, cinematographer, casting, etc. to get a visual feel for the on screen chemistry between actors.
      Lighting is determined and done on the spot during filming and is reviewed and examined at the end of each day after filming (called dailies). The exposed film reels were taken to special expedited film photo labs that developed the film and the "dailies" were then rushed back to the studio/set for the crew to either review it same day or the next morning. Lighting would then be examined and adjusted if needed.
      This is of course only regarding classic film production. Nowadays, digital video allows for immediate playback and review on set.
