  • Today we are hydro dipping earrings. I got these wood earring blanks from Amazon. I put a base coat on them and then hydro dipped them using fingernail polish. I figure out some things through trial and error of what I think would work better for next time. I hope you learn something along with me and if you have any advance for me please make sure to drop it in the comments.

      @@debisrustybrush I don't know if old polish but mine kept sinking to bottom but I did get some cute dips. Love black base with just silver.

      @Gloria Garrison Suddath oh, I'm glad you gave it a try. I would assume that old polish would be heavier, causing the sinking.

    I make earrings using this method and here's a good tip: insert a toothpick in the hole before dipping. Then after, stick the other end in some kind of foam piece, like floral foam. I use some packing material that is plastic-like. Set aside to dry. If doing this for any extended time, I'd recommend wearing a respirator, or at least have a fan going and do it in a large, airy room. Have fun! The resulting designs are enhanced by coating with some kind of resin.

    Hi love this video...is it just cold water you put the nail polish in

    • @debisrustybrush
      @debisrustybrush  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. I used luke warm/cool water. I'm not sure it makes a difference. I haven't tried varying the water temp.

    Have you tried this with just acrylic paint and water? TIA

    • @debisrustybrush
      @debisrustybrush  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No sorry, I have never done acrylics. I have only done the polish and spray paint.

  • @debisrustybrush
    @debisrustybrush  ปีที่แล้ว

    I was asked if it was ok to use acrylic paint instead of fingernail polish. I have seen it done with fingernail polish and spray paint. I have not tried acrylic paint, so I do not have the answer on acrylic paint. Sorry.

    I like your video. Good color lipstick, you are wearing, by the way.. YOU SHOULD wear a pair of earrings-bizarre that you didn't think of that if you are trying to sell this craft online. How do you get the color off your findings if you dip them and polihs gets on them? I would think nail polish remover would tarnish the metal, no?

    • @debisrustybrush
      @debisrustybrush  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I was very careful to not get fingernail polish on the metal. You could tape them if you wanted, however the non-acitone polish remover should not tarnish the metal. I have not started selling these yet, still working on getting enough inventory for shows. And to be able to ware a pair I have to find myself a gold or surgical steal option because I have an allergy to most metals. Thank's for watching my video and for your comments. 🙂

    I really love this content. Does it matter what temperature your water is?

    • @debisrustybrush
      @debisrustybrush  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used room temperature water so that it was comfortable to work with. Now you have me wondering what effects I could get with different temps.

      Should it be cold water

    • @debisrustybrush
      @debisrustybrush  ปีที่แล้ว

      @gigistacey724 I used cool tepid water but not cold. But I guess water temp could make a difference. Also with the nail polish if you let it set too long before dipping it will start to set.
