I think that the biggest issue Garret is facing is not having enough storage. If he for example got a shelf for his bedroom where he'd display all of his action figures, then it's (a little bit) more likely that when he gets a new action figure, it'll go straight to its dedicated space rather than end up on the nightstand. A really easy way to store things in their cathegories is by buying one of those IKEA shelves with the squares, get the little boxes for them and have each box for a specific cathegory. Garret likes to keep things from his childhood, so one of the boxes could be for that. One for extra electrical stuff, etc. But as Garrett has a lot of things that he thinks are cool and worth a display, he definitely lacks shelves and space to display them on.
He straight up needs one room just as a museum of treasures. But he could still have his action figures and mementos in other rooms but one main room for his collection.
I had something similar not long ago. My aunty passed away 2 months ago and on the 10th of may I had to put my cat down who was literally my whole world. I walked into my bedroom 2 days ago and just sat on the floor and cried silently so my sister didn't hear me. But she's my guardian angel here on earth and she turned up and sat on the floor and cried with me. We go through cleaning and tidying my room because it was chaos. And 2 nights ago, I had a really good sleep for the first time in well over a year. My apologies for trauma dumping in this comment section I'm just a bit sad and have shut myself off from everyone and find it so much easier to talk to strangers in a relatively safe space. Okay sorry I'll shut up now. Thanks for listening if you got this far.
@@vawkwardbatfr, being able to watch a movie all the way through would be impressive for me. That’s why I like going to the movie theater bc there’s no pause button
I usually find body doubling videos to be ineffective, but this one is some sort of miracle. I had a number of chores to do, and this helped me get them done in a timely manner and even scrub my kitchen sink!! I'll definitely be coming back to this video. All my fellow struggling neurodivergent folks take care **finger guns**
The Garrett Cleaning My Home videos are like the Bobs Burgers Thanksgiving episodes. I can always count on them to make my day…and to make me mildly concerned.
Garrett’s laugh burns brighter than that of a thousand suns. Combine that with unexpected visits from “snarky coffee/wine girl,” and the universe is in perfect balance.
My executive dysfunction's really been kicking me in the butt lately and seeing your room like that was not only SUPER validating, but I'm happy to say I have the motivation now to clean up my room while watching you lose your mind over your little guys. Thanks Garrett!
Same here!! My house looks way worse than Garrett’s room & it makes me feel so validated & motivated to see the realness & knowing I’m not alone in the struggle because idk anyone in real life who has any problems with it :/
"My brain doesn't come home and go time to unpack and put things where they go cuz things don't go where they go." The most relatable sentence I've ever heard
As someone with adhd this is very accurate. Between the boxes of crap, the close pile under the cubicles with maybe a blanket (I too own WAY to many blankets) the falling asleep in weird spots, the checklist and being distracted by EVERYTHING I find. I’m proud of you it looks great!
AuDHD here, I find that disconnecting from technology is very helpful while trying to clean. Put on something boring/understimulating and then leave your phone. Maybe a podcast, lofi music, a video essay, something you won't need to check back up on. Turn on DND and silent mode, then let your hands get busy once your brain gets bored. Also the "make a big pile and pick it apart" method
You make feel a lot better about my messiness. The internet can make me feel like an actual gremlin because of how untidy my room can be, I struggle with depression and get overwhelmed very easily, so thank you for sharing this, Garrett ♡ makes me feel more human!
I'm so sorry to hear you've been struggling, just know you're not alone and you are not less human because of it! If you want some practical advice, I highly recommend thrifting (or straight up buying) bookshelves or floating shelves. It keeps your mess off of the floor, and it incentivizes you to organize the things you put *on* those shelves. This method took my room from a hoarding nest to an organized chaos that I simply love to look at! If you can't afford any shelving at the moment, that's okay! There are still a couple of things you can turn into habits. 1) Before you leave your room to get something, take 2 things out (one for each hand). This can help you clean up trash, dishes, or general misplaced clutter. Think of it as efficiency in emptying your space, NOT as cleaning. 2) If you do decide to clean, always start with trash first. Just find anything you can throw away and get rid of it. Once you get the trash done, go clothes second. You don't have to fold them or be neat about it, just move your clothes into one spot (pile if you have to) and get that out of the way. THEN you start with the littler things, like one box or corner at a time. If that still doesn't help, I recommend you watch the channel Midwest Magic Cleaning. The guy who runs that channel is proudly autistic and he uses his love of cleaning to clean other people's homes for free, and he especially loves to help hoarders in a respectful and empathetic way. You could really learn a lot about self-kindness from him, as even he understands how it feels to sometimes get overwhelmed and messy. I think you would really love him. Best of luck to you
@@nomoretwitterhandlesdo you have any advice for hoarding tendencies and not knowing what to do with certain items? I struggle with getting rid of things and my room is already so small as it is
hey, suggestion from another adhd person who collects a lot of figures/merchandise/ect! my desk and other surface areas were collecting all of my fun little things and as you said! as soon as i set one down even if it was just in a random spot and position that became its home and i wouldnt dust them either- anyways it was a nightmare. ikea has these glass display shelves and you can get two or even three along with museum putty and pose all of your figures and such in fun little poses in the cabinets. since it was like glass walls all around you just open it up then pop them all in and pose them (museum putty will keep things sturdy and stuck in the display well) then after you close the glass door its hard for dust to get in, it puts everything in a place that looks visually pleasing, and its easy to just look at all your fun little things whenever you want :D it's made things SO much more organized for me!
I actually want to thank you for these videos. They make me feel so much less alone in my ADHD. Today, my mom watched with me and it actually opened up a conversation where it helped her accept my diagnosis a lot more. ❤ Room's looking good. 👌🏼
Omg the “asking the internet how to clean” is so relatable 😂 Growing up, anytime I cleaned my room, I would google “how to clean my room” and follow the steps from wiki how. Something about having the steps listed out just made it SO much easier to start the process
I have a chart that I found years ago saved to my camera roll. It’s specifically for overwhelming messes, I saved it bc most of the lists and charts are just what you do daily, weekly, and monthly.
no no you absolutely DO deserve to play mad max after all of that. as a fellow person with adhd, the all or nothing mentality is so real. I'd have been overwhelmed by the clothes too. honestly the fact that you were still able to contain them to trash bags and shut the door of your closet is a HUGE win. especially after spending SEVERAL hours on the rest of your room, and then attempting to tackle it at 4am. an adhd cleaning spree like that will make you feel sluggish and exhausted for days later, and I've had so many people tell me to just pace myself and slow down with it but the sad reality is that my brain just doesn't work that way and keeping my room at a maintainable standard is something I spend SO much energy trying to do because when I start cleaning I don't want to stop until everything sparkles. I know the shame of "well I kind of cheated in this way..." but as far as I can tell you still absolutely took care of the most pressing issue. the sorting and coming up with a system can happen later, and you could always do another video on that! I know you presented that as a joke, but in case you (or others watching) feel real guilt or shame about marking something complete when you took a "shortcut", you shouldn't. You took a real big step toward getting it done and at least out of the way (which was probably distressing to even face). And frankly even if you hadn't, and you'd just fallen asleep instead of touching the pile of clothes -- you still did SO MUCH WORK and deserve rest!! Anyway, this is just my two cents as someone who struggles very similarly to you. I've just been working overtime for years now to rewire my brain a bit and hopefully help lessen the guilt and shame of it all because any progress still counts as progress and should be celebrated. (And also thanks for showing this kind of thing on the internet too because so many cleaning videos will show the smallest amount of clutter and act so embarrassed about it and it takes 5 minutes to make it sparkle and then it can make people like me feel so much more ashamed about the way I exist) ok I love your videos bye
I missed the sassy lady who drinks coffee. I’m glad to see her back. Great job with your room Garrett❤️ I have the kind of ADHD that’s VERY organized and I’m OCD personality oriented , love seeing people re-organize and clean
Garrett! We’re happy to be your adhd mirroring buds! Super proud of you. I read a book called “how to keep house when you’re drowning” and it’s been very helpful as a fellow adhd brained human. Basically splitting the cleaning into smaller categories like trash, dishes, things that have a place, things that don’t have a place. Of course, whatever works best for you is ultimately what’s best.
after i got on anti depressants and mood stabilizers it has been so much easier to clean and keep it clean. My brothers literally said “it feels weird that your room is clean. your room being messy is always my usually” which was so embarrassing but it’s true. I’m proud of you homie
Everything is messy, but not dirty. That’s how my spaces always end up 😂 I’ll have my little piles everywhere and god forbid I move anything, because I will never find it again. Unless I make up a reason for my brain to remember. You’re so relatable, Garrett❤
Ahhh behold, my annual de-hoarding reminder video from Garrett… Thank you! Those of us with ADHD/on the spectrum know the struggle is real. Love you, Garrett! ❤
Garrett, I deal with this exact same issue. Rather than ADHD preventing my cleaning, it's depression. Today I was able to fold clean laundry and put it into my drawers. Proud of you ❤❤❤
garrett i've never related so much to a video, from the backpack obsession to all the figures and piles of thrifted clothes and getting completely invested in a different project than you'd set out to achieve. thank you for being so willing to share your adhd struggle and you should be SO proud of this bedroom transformation!!! i can't wait to see what you do with all that wallspace i LOVE decorating my walls more than anything
Imagine staying at Garrett's in a pile of blankets after checking out all his cool gadgets, action figures and telling ghost stories! He'd be the best host!
Garrett! i know you won’t see this but this video came out as i’ve been putting off cleaning my massive depression room. i put this on and cleaned for the first time in months. thank you dude
I struggle with laundry everywhere too but SPECIFICALLY my book collection and candle collection (bad combo). before i got a full tall bookshelf, i put my books on a three-tier cart (like the ones you put in your bathroom), on the floor, in a box, just so many books. and i can't get rid of them because they're like dear friends to me, i know i read them already but they're precious. i think i'll get another bookshelf in the future, my dream is to have a whole room dedicated to my personal library. anyway, my autism makes me behave like a dragon that needs to collect things. i'm getting interested in legos, it will be a problem. also unrelated but i would 10000% follow a garrett gaming channel or livestream, i love love video games too
That dragon analogy you made is so wonderful 🥲 that’s really cool that you said that. Thank you so much. I’ve always wanted to start like a gaming thing! I’m a huge Gaymer. I just never talk about it on TH-cam.
@@garrettunhinged DO IT DO ITTTT ! no pressure, i just love your personality and it's so nice to watch someone struggle the way i struggle AND be interested in the things I'M interested in. maybe I want to share the mad max experience TOO OKAY ? ?? thank u for your videos and response, always so much fun
Amazing job garrett!!! Only he can make cleaning a room so entertaining. Garrett, you bring so much joy to our lives, please never change ❤❤❤ love you!
Ok. I got 2 tips for the clothes. 1- have two laundry baskets, one for clean clothes one for dirty. Get ‘em in different colors. Clean basket’s empty? Time to do laundry 2- for the sheer amount of clothes, especially when they’ve been sitting on the ground a while…I wash the whole pile. Clean, dirty, who knows who cares. EVERYTHING. Will it take multiple loads? Multiple days? Probably. But as each load comes out of the dryer, I’ll have what I call a “fashion show” Basically I take each piece out and try it on. Does it fit and do I still like it? Immediately folded and put into drawer. Don’t like it, or doesn’t fit? Into the Goodwill doom pile in my living room. I make it a game…”how many clothes can I fold before this show/podcast/song ends?”
The realness of looking at my room/space and going “oh I need to clean that” and then cleaning until 4am because I end up finding a workbook from high school or something I thought I lost and going back through all the fun memories Also love the motivational treat at the end
This was a very relatable video for us with ADHD, everything you did made me think “this man makes sense.” Also “I want to start journaling” Famous Last ADHD words
I got stood up for prom last night and I watched this video while eating chipotle to make me feel better about not going and I REALLY thought I wasn’t gonna smile or laugh that entire night. However, that’s impossible when watching your videos. Thank you Garrett :,) ❤
My bestie has ADHD, is a brilliant scientist, absolutely loves her treasures, and has a very hard time keeping her space organized. I’ll tell you what I tell her: I support your trash panda ways. Don’t get mold poisoning. 💜
This makes me feel a bit better about my chaotic depression room lol. I had a VERY toxic job and it took a huge toll on my mental health, I literally had no energy left to clean my room very often, only the basic like dishes and garbage. Thankfully now I have a much better job and I am starting to feel like me again :) thank you for being so vulnerable and open with us Garrett!
I highly relate to the issues you go through with cleaning and hoarding and all that jazz. So seeing you clean your room motivated me to join in and help work on my own. So just thank you for being so open with these kinds of issues, all the while just being a fantastic and entertaining person. I wish you luck in your own journey in getting better with your cleaning journey.
I'm so glad you've made this video. I struggle with mental health ( ADHD, Depression, anxiety, ECT) and my room just gets so bad and I don't even notice. I try to keep everything else in my life, relatively neat. But my bedroom, a room that is supposed to be my sanctuary, I just leave it in a mess. And I struggle getting rid of things because i find sentimental value. And I feel so embarrassed and ashamed of myself because of it. I know mental health isn't an excuse for this, but I feel like if my brain was wired better, I wouldn't be like this. But I'm really trying to help myself and this video is giving me the best motivation.
Mental health is a good excuse and it is how you're brain is wired, you suffer from Executive Dysfunction and Pathological Demand Avoidance which comes from ADHD, it is not your fault. The worst thing you can do is make a big project of it and then beat yoursef for not doing it creating this self sabotaging cycle, read up on both Executive Dysfunction and Pathological Demand Avoidance and find comfort in knowing that it is not a personality flaw but a brain malfunction you had since birth
Garrett!! I have legit advice for adhd cleaning! (And keep in mind I know this is for a video but if you ever want to clean up real real thoroughly.) Okay SO you have to work with your brain and not against it. Adhd craves “finishing” a task so instead of doing the small or easy thing, do whatever you can do that you can 100% finish and then the success will carry you to the next task! Oh and also locking yourself in a room and using boxes to “sort” stuff that belongs out of the room helps keep you focused since you won’t have to leave the room to put the thing away! Hope that helps! It definitely helps me 😅 love your videos dude, keep being a sweet boy Also ps WHERE DID OUR SWEET BOY PODCAST GO??! GARRETT!!
It's insane to me how much I identify with the way your mind thinks and how unimaginable that is to non-neurodivergent folks. My husband is natural state is unbothered and calm and looks at me fearful confusion often when I am having a breakdown or can't complete a simple task due to distraction or frustration. Love you Garrett and I miss you Benjamin!
I’ve lived everyday of my life with constant shame of being messy and unorganized, and now, feeling like I can’t be a proper adult because of the messy environment I can’t seem to control, and then I was diagnosed with adhd and now I’m more patient with myself. Thank you for being transparent Garrett!!!
This video was soooo satisfying. It was the perfect mix of chaotic thoughts and laughing and weird items. Like you’re constant manic laughing, and then a dead serious face after was just perfect. 😭😭
Love everything about you!!! I just overhauled my 2 story house. I had piles everywhere just like you. What fixed things for me was baskets, reusing Apple boxes in drawers, etc. Categorize everything. Everything has a home. I know this might be hard but I finally let go of crap I was never going to use to reclaim my house. Good luck G-Man!
finding this while having literally no motivation to clean my dorm is such a godsend. It’s the worst it’s ever been but having you Sir Garrett in the background ALSO struggling and cleaning is the most helpful and funny thing ever
okay genuinely as a 25 year old guy with severe adhd, i was so proud when you cleared the tubs of stuff and had all of it arranged in bags, youre kill it dude
For your windows: I HIGHLY recommend getting cling film for the glass so you have more privacy. It makes it look like frosted glass, or you can get like prism/rainbow textured film. I love that it makes rainbows on my walls when the sun is in the right position.
Your first video made me feel so seen about keeping little, but many, things and I felt inspired to get my room together too. Maybe this one is a sign to do it again 🙏💕
i've been needing to clean my room for like over a year now bc i'm severely depressed and this made me get up and clean with you :) it's not immaculate but way better than it was. thanks garrett love u!!!
11:02 a good cleaning tip especially if you don’t want to leave the room (and get distracted and start doing another task etc) is to bring boxes into the room/space that you’re cleaning (one box for every room/space that you are cleaning) then you can put everything in their assigned box (which should not be in the room/space that you are cleaning) and then you take the boxes to the next room and sort them as you go, it’s very helpful with time management; I often find myself going forwards and backwards to each room when I’m cleaning so this helps speed things along in that regard too :)
Garrett Watts, you are a beacon of light for everyone that has the blessing to be a part of your earthly presence in this lifetime whether that be physically or virtually. Every video you put out always gives me so much comfort, laughs and genuine happiness. Thanks for being you ❤️
PROUD OF YOU! Everytime the floor is clean is when I feel best. I know I can breathe better when the ground is clear! I love to be able to see my fun collectables and plants so I TRY to keep my environment tidy, but it always gets undone. I try to use Sunday as my day to put things away. It helps to have that "routine"
Thank you for being so open and honest about this part of your life ❤ My guest bedroom has become the "junk room" so I think it's quite a common experience.
This channel could be a textbook for a study in ADHD behavior, and honestly it’s so comforting. I’m entertained while also feeling less alone and relating so much. Using content creation as assistance in cleanup is such a great idea tbh❤
Garrett honey don’t feel bad. I’ve lived in a tent for like 3 years now and it’s a constant struggle to keep my clutter manageable ADHD is a hell of a drug man
You know what I noticed helps me with cleaning. I’ll let my room get out of control. I look at it get overwhelmed and just crawl back into bed and say screw it BUT if I set a timer for 15mins clean then when the alarm goes off I stop for 5 mins and relax. Rinse and repeat then everything will get done. Don’t overwhelm yourself. A little at a time and before you know it you’re back to having a clean sanctuary. Now I need to listen to my advice bc my room, she’s a mess 😬
i’ve been stuck in my bedroom hovel (very messy oops) for the past few weeks eating cheese&pickle sandwiches, playing pokémon and rewatching Adventure Time🤠🤠 buttttttt I finally tidied my room whilst watching this video and it felt HELLA good to imagine that I’m not alone through it, thanks lovely Garrett 🫶(hoorah!!!)
Hi Garrett! I just wanted to say that ADHD is something that I struggle with a lot, especially lately, and I beat myself up over having it often- but watching your videos honestly is incredibly comforting and helps me come to terms with it being a normal thing that is just part of who I am! Thank you so much for proving that happiness :)
i was already taking care of cleaning my disaster space when i got distracted and got on youtube. this vid popped up just in time. not only is garrett comfy background noise, this is such good content to clean to! also, i love and hate how much i relate to garrett when it comes to how my living space is. it's so nice to see someone being real about this so i don't feel so alone and awful. thank you for showing us this part of your life, man.
Omg Garrett YESSSS you should totally become a voice actor!!! That would be so perfect for you ❤ also I have ADHD so this was basically just like watching myself for 30 minutes straight 😂
I watched this and now I feel like today is finally the day to sort out my spare bedroom full of clothes I should have put away a long time ago. Thank you Garrett!
You're not alone. My adhd felt it was necessary to place all my documents and tax deductible receipts in various places all over my house. I have some in a box above the fridge, in my desk, on my desk, in the spare bedroom, on a random shelf, kitchen counter, the walk in pantry, oh God and where ever else I still haven't discovered them. I'm currently tackling this project while binging your channel. And yes, I am currently 3 years behind on taxes and I have less than 6 hours to get all my paperwork accounted for and uploaded for my accountant for 2021. Hahahaha
I used to have a junk cupboard. Then it became a junk drawer. Now, my "tat" collection is used as art piece type things on my bookcase. On display, makes me feel good.
Garrett I will literally fly out to LA for a week just to help you clean & decorate 😭 My (suspected) ADHD realllllyyyy hyperfixates on cleaning and my old job was visual merchandising so it's a beautiful storm once I have a vision and want to bring it to life!! But I VERYYY much relate to having so many special things in your space - I thrift & am also really sentimental, so quite literally 98% of the things in my apartment have a story attached to it or it's something that really elicited an emotion out of me, and I just think it makes the space feel so much more special. The biggest ~keep things clean~ advice (??? I'm literally not qualified lmao) is that I tend to think of all of my lovely little things as having feelings?? not quite personifying them, but I think to myself "This thing means so much to me, and I want to treat it with the same kindness that I feel when looking at it." And that motivates me to want to care about how the space looks. ALSO I know that the more I push tasks aside (coughcoughtleavingtheclothesinapileinthecloset), the less my hyperfixated brain will be able to truly relax and know peace, because I can't just *forget* that there's a hidden pile of chaos, I will constantly be unsettled by it until it's done. ALL THAT TO SAYYYYYY .... I think my favorite cool little item in my room is this gold framed mirror that used to be my grandma's that I inherited once she passed. It's not like, *quality* or expensive, tbh she probably thrifted it herself. But I like knowing that my grandma spent so many days of her life looking at her reflection in that mirror, and that mirror saw her grow and age, and now I'm doing the same 💜 It's a nice reminder that life is long and the journey is always far from over. Hope you enjoyed this ramble hahaha, but sending love and light your way!!! ✨
I feel so seen 😭 I’m slightly more inspired now to tackle the mess in my kitchen, which includes an ungodly amount of cardboard boxes from deliveries I’ve gotten over the last several months. Your checklist that included the reward at the end is something I’ll try for that. I’m also time blind, I hear you 👏🏻 we got this Garrett, and all my fellow NDs. One day at a time. ❤
Could you imagine going to your grandma’s house, and she’s just complaining about her absurdly weird neighbor who buries things in his yard, and you just look out the window, and the neighbor is Garrett Watts
A common trick that I do to my brain whenever I try to clean is that when 2 things are similar, they come together. Tops? They stack together. Action figures? In one shelf they go. Condiments? In the cupboard. It becomes less daunting for me and generally I just classify my stuff and identify how similar they are. 😊 wish you all the best, Garrett!
I gotta say Garrett, thank you for uploading this kind of content, like GENUINELY 😭💚 Helps me feel a little bit less alone when I see my own chaotic mess/doom piles. I'm neurospicy along with chronic pain/fatigue problems, so its hard for me to keep up with staying tidy along with working a full time job becausemy days off just end up being "coma days"(spending ALOT of time sleeping/resting), but these kind of videos help alot when I'm struggling to be motivated and focused while cleaning 🦓💚

Garrett having to do a massive clean once a year is actually so relatable
And pretty normal.
The level of self-control it takes to walk away from a movie mid watch is seriously impressive.
Easy with adhd xD at least for me! I'll forget I was watching anything too lool
I will watch a movie, think of something, alt+tab for a few hours and then be like oh yeah right the movie XD
@@Shadarinn oh ye on computer it's wayyy worse. The distraction is real.
@@vawkwardbatfr, being able to watch a movie all the way through would be impressive for me. That’s why I like going to the movie theater bc there’s no pause button
The idea of Garrett voice-acting has Regular Show vibes
He kinda sounds like Mordecai
Yes!!
I use twitch streams as a body doubling substitute
"he's my favourite"
throws teddy in the most jolly aggressive way
Garrett can I just say I’m so proud of you for posting so often this year !!
He's been killing it this year 👏
Garret im so proud of you! Also my fav thing in my room is a sign Muppet Movie script :)))
@byn1234 that's so cool, who's it signed by? :)
Same here! So happy for him thriving 😊
that rush of pride and excitement seeing a new vid posted! ❤️
So fun that Garrett loves us enough to use us as a parasocial body double! He'll be mine going ghost hunting this weekend 😂
😂😂
The Garrett Cleaning My Home videos are like the Bobs Burgers Thanksgiving episodes.
I can always count on them to make my day…and to make me mildly concerned.
no fr
This is so niche, but so nice. So good.
I love Bob's Burgers 🍔 💜
That's such a specific reference but it fits so well😂😂😂
I love this comment so much it felt like a hug to read it
Garrett referring Andrew as his *videographer* and not his best friend/soulmate felt like a personal attack to me 😂
He respects him as a professional and respects his work and probably a low key shout out. We all know they're soulmates ❤ lol
This is exactly what I was thinking. I'd love to share a photo of my bedroom with Garrett, he is not alone 😭😂
🫶🫶🫶 me too 😊
In the same boat guys... 😂😅
Same here!! My house looks way worse than Garrett’s room & it makes me feel so validated & motivated to see the realness & knowing I’m not alone in the struggle because idk anyone in real life who has any problems with it :/
me too! im making a chore chart/plans to clean my room this weekend because of this video!
"My brain doesn't come home and go time to unpack and put things where they go cuz things don't go where they go." The most relatable sentence I've ever heard
“once something gets to a space you just think it lives there” is so so real.
As someone with adhd this is very accurate. Between the boxes of crap, the close pile under the cubicles with maybe a blanket (I too own WAY to many blankets) the falling asleep in weird spots, the checklist and being distracted by EVERYTHING I find. I’m proud of you it looks great!
Most iconic collab of the century would be Garrett and Marie Kondo
Yes please omg
AuDHD here, I find that disconnecting from technology is very helpful while trying to clean. Put on something boring/understimulating and then leave your phone. Maybe a podcast, lofi music, a video essay, something you won't need to check back up on. Turn on DND and silent mode, then let your hands get busy once your brain gets bored.
Also the "make a big pile and pick it apart" method
If Big Pile didn’t exist, there’s a pretty good chance I would have never put away laundry even once
@@lizparylo7445 Without Big Pile, my floor would never be walkable💀
“that’s why he’s good for me” ❤ love the bromance you have with Andrew
Best of luck to you
I feel you, going through the same right now, literally stayed in bed 99% of the day. It's hard but just know that you're not alone in the struggle ❤
@@nomoretwitterhandlesdo you have any advice for hoarding tendencies and not knowing what to do with certain items? I struggle with getting rid of things and my room is already so small as it is
@@LMCSM I hope today was a really good rest for you, and it's what you needed. Sending love to you
Hi, fellow gremlin. 💜
hey, suggestion from another adhd person who collects a lot of figures/merchandise/ect! my desk and other surface areas were collecting all of my fun little things and as you said! as soon as i set one down even if it was just in a random spot and position that became its home and i wouldnt dust them either- anyways it was a nightmare.
ikea has these glass display shelves and you can get two or even three along with museum putty and pose all of your figures and such in fun little poses in the cabinets. since it was like glass walls all around you just open it up then pop them all in and pose them (museum putty will keep things sturdy and stuck in the display well) then after you close the glass door its hard for dust to get in, it puts everything in a place that looks visually pleasing, and its easy to just look at all your fun little things whenever you want :D it's made things SO much more organized for me!
I actually want to thank you for these videos. They make me feel so much less alone in my ADHD. Today, my mom watched with me and it actually opened up a conversation where it helped her accept my diagnosis a lot more. ❤ Room's looking good. 👌🏼
my bedroom makes your bedroom look like a fresh home makeover for modelling and im not even ashamed about it.
everytime garrett cleans his room i feel obligated to as well ADHD goes HARDDD
His videos actually help me get my apartment organized and clean I can’t explain it lol
Omg the “asking the internet how to clean” is so relatable 😂 Growing up, anytime I cleaned my room, I would google “how to clean my room” and follow the steps from wiki how. Something about having the steps listed out just made it SO much easier to start the process
Omg same!!!! ❤️
(And also thanks for showing this kind of thing on the internet too because so many cleaning videos will show the smallest amount of clutter and act so embarrassed about it and it takes 5 minutes to make it sparkle and then it can make people like me feel so much more ashamed about the way I exist)
ok I love your videos bye
I missed the sassy lady who drinks coffee. I’m glad to see her back. Great job with your room Garrett❤️
I have the kind of ADHD that’s VERY organized and I’m OCD personality oriented , love seeing people re-organize and clean
Of course, whatever works best for you is ultimately what’s best.
wait I’ve read that too! I still follow their five things tidying method every time I clean. that book was very validating
Honestly garret is the only creator who I'd watch doing this cause I'm always curious what stories each item will have.
garrett you are truly a masterpiece of a person. the titanic drawing & hot anime guy, the glasses situation, just you, everything. it’s perfection.
after i got on anti depressants and mood stabilizers it has been so much easier to clean and keep it clean. My brothers literally said “it feels weird that your room is clean. your room being messy is always my usually” which was so embarrassing but it’s true. I’m proud of you homie
Everything is messy, but not dirty. That’s how my spaces always end up 😂
I’ll have my little piles everywhere and god forbid I move anything, because I will never find it again. Unless I make up a reason for my brain to remember. You’re so relatable, Garrett❤
Ahhh behold, my annual de-hoarding reminder video from Garrett… Thank you! Those of us with ADHD/on the spectrum know the struggle is real. Love you, Garrett! ❤
My bedroom has inadvertently become my doom pile storage as well lol. No one here is judging, this is a safe space Garrett! ❤
Garrett, I deal with this exact same issue. Rather than ADHD preventing my cleaning, it's depression. Today I was able to fold clean laundry and put it into my drawers. Proud of you ❤❤❤
I'm proud of YOU ❤
I'm proud of ye all❤
garrett i've never related so much to a video, from the backpack obsession to all the figures and piles of thrifted clothes and getting completely invested in a different project than you'd set out to achieve. thank you for being so willing to share your adhd struggle and you should be SO proud of this bedroom transformation!!! i can't wait to see what you do with all that wallspace i LOVE decorating my walls more than anything
This turned out so freaking good. It’s so even??? Whattttt?????that’s insane you did amazing !!!!
Imagine staying at Garrett's in a pile of blankets after checking out all his cool gadgets, action figures and telling ghost stories! He'd be the best host!
garrett being in big top burger was definitely the BEST crossover i was giggling and squealing when i watched the first episode with mr foodtruck.
OMG WHEN WAS THIS :00???
@@diediedicehe does mr food truck in s2!! the expo is his first appearance (:
Garrett! i know you won’t see this but this video came out as i’ve been putting off cleaning my massive depression room. i put this on and cleaned for the first time in months. thank you dude
These videos always help me tackle my own junk corners around my rooms. Because if Garrett can do it, I can too!:)
It's called body doubling! It's so helpful 😄
Ok. I got 2 tips for the clothes.
1- have two laundry baskets, one for clean clothes one for dirty. Get ‘em in different colors. Clean basket’s empty? Time to do laundry
2- for the sheer amount of clothes, especially when they’ve been sitting on the ground a while…I wash the whole pile.
The realness of looking at my room/space and going “oh I need to clean that” and then cleaning until 4am because I end up finding a workbook from high school or something I thought I lost and going back through all the fun memories
Also love the motivational treat at the end
This was a very relatable video for us with ADHD, everything you did made me think “this man makes sense.”
Also “I want to start journaling” Famous Last ADHD words
I got stood up for prom last night and I watched this video while eating chipotle to make me feel better about not going and I REALLY thought I wasn’t gonna smile or laugh that entire night. However, that’s impossible when watching your videos. Thank you Garrett :,) ❤
Spring cleaning time, baby! ❤ For the first time in ages I'm watching one of these videoes and my room isn't a cluttered mess.
I've trashed three and a quarter rooms and need to plan moving some day. You're not alone. Funny video.
It definitely helps me 😅 love your videos dude, keep being a sweet boy
Also ps WHERE DID OUR SWEET BOY PODCAST GO??!
Oh and you can’t forget the hot anime guys and titanic 🙂↔️(perfect combo)
I'm legitimately so proud of you Garret 🙏
Love everything about you!!! I just overhauled my 2 story house. I had piles everywhere just like you. What fixed things for me was baskets, reusing Apple boxes in drawers, etc. Categorize everything. Everything has a home. I know this might be hard but I finally let go of crap I was never going to use to reclaim my house. Good luck G-Man!
Ok. I lied a lil. I have junk in the basement BUT it’s still categorized by seasons, decor accessories, extra furniture and papers. 🙄
That’s so cool you have a house!
Garrett absolutely killing it with uploads this year!!
finding this while having literally no motivation to clean my dorm is such a godsend.
Everytime I watch your videos it’s like looking at an alternative dimension version of myself and it is so comforting honestly
Garrett you are not alone I had a harmonica sitting on the edge of my bathtub for months. Proud of you. 💖
11:02 a good cleaning tip especially if you don’t want to leave the room (and get distracted and start doing another task etc) is to bring boxes into the room/space that you’re cleaning (one box for every room/space that you are cleaning) then you can put everything in their assigned box (which should not be in the room/space that you are cleaning) and then you take the boxes to the next room and sort them as you go, it’s very helpful with time management; I often find myself going forwards and backwards to each room when I’m cleaning so this helps speed things along in that regard too :)
the intro is my favorite thing ever, i just know it represents his brain so perfectly😭
Whenever I struggle with cleaning I try to remind myself that I deserve a clean space ❤️
It helps to have that "routine"
this is very relatable, you’re always my comfort creator
Garrett I loved helping you clean your room in a way!!! You did so good!
Thank you for being so open and honest about this part of your life ❤
My guest bedroom has become the "junk room" so I think it's quite a common experience.
This channel could be a textbook for a study in ADHD behavior, and honestly it’s so comforting. I’m entertained while also feeling less alone and relating so much. Using content creation as assistance in cleanup is such a great idea tbh❤
Garrett honey don’t feel bad. I’ve lived in a tent for like 3 years now and it’s a constant struggle to keep my clutter manageable ADHD is a hell of a drug man
GARRETT YOU PRECIOUS LITTLE BUG DONT BE ASHAMED OF ANYTHING❤
Adorable comment ❤️
My bedroom looks exactly like this, I’ve been struggling. Thank you for sharing this and reminding me I am not alone 🫶🏼
You aren't alone cuz samezies and actually mine is way worse!! Wish me luck, I think I can, I think I can... lol
Now I need to listen to my advice bc my room, she’s a mess 😬
i’ve been stuck in my bedroom hovel (very messy oops) for the past few weeks eating cheese&pickle sandwiches, playing pokémon and rewatching Adventure Time🤠🤠
buttttttt I finally tidied my room whilst watching this video and it felt HELLA good to imagine that I’m not alone through it, thanks lovely Garrett 🫶(hoorah!!!)
Hello! I love the fact that I watch you cleaning up while i’m doing absolutly nothing on my couch 😅
The real issue is ADHD. It's hard to stay focus and get your house clean due to the distractions. WE LOVE YOU ANYWAY!!!
Garrett I will literally fly out to LA for a week just to help you clean & decorate 😭
My (suspected) ADHD realllllyyyy hyperfixates on cleaning and my old job was visual merchandising so it's a beautiful storm once I have a vision and want to bring it to life!!
Aw I love that you use and enjoy your grandma's mirror ❤ that's really special!
I just finished rewatching your Baking a cake for a rat video when you posted this!! 😊 Garrett is the best ever
😅
I'm depressed as fuck and your videos make me so happy ❤ thank u!
Garrett freaking out about his place being a mess? Must be a Wednesday...
