I don't think Nurgle followers can reproduce considering their privates have probably either fallen off or otherwise lost their function. Not to mention Nurgle is the god of stagnation, and I'm pretty sure having children would go against that for obvious reasons.

Random thought the tyranids come from outside the galaxy right the milky way. They had to adapt to chaos and even made a mini fleet to deal with chaos. So is chaos no a universal place just somehow a galaxy wide reflection.

the problem is that they might not have been really 'killed' proper. in 40k we know for a fact they are basically in slaanesh's warp stomach (for lack of a better term), but still alive. its also worth noting that in AOS elven souls were retrieved from slaanesh's stomach after she was chained up, the elven souls weren't killed or destroyed, they were just being tortured and drained by slaanesh's essence after being consumed. this likely means that the elven pantheon is likely still alive in some way or another somewhere in slaanesh, its just that it might be a lot harder to take a god out of slaanesh's stomach compared to just some random elf.

One thing that I feel would have been fun to bring up is that: if a Daemon tries to posses someone and fails, that lucky person is immune to further possessions as well as the corruption of chaos entirely. In the game Inquisitor: Martyr, an Inquisitor organized possessions on-mass to try and create an army that was immune to chaos. Now this has a very low chance of success, and if it does fail then your soul is condemned to eternal torment. The game is about cleaning up his mess. It is a very cool Idea; if you survive a possession then Chaos cannot corrupt you.

Necrons are already in the process of creating more pylons, as evidenced by the Pariah Nexus. Unfortunately for all non-Necrons it has the slight side-effect of causing gradual soul-death as it turns out being cut off from the realm of souls and emotion tends to not be good for those _with_ souls. But hey, it give Necrons some shiny, new, uninhabited bodies to experiment with reversing biotransferrence.

I mean, the whole "make the galaxy a better place to defang the chaos gods" is basically what the Tau are doing. Arguably, it's working, but the odds of the Tau growing large enough to cool the entire galaxy down before a Waaagh or Hive Fleet takes notice of them and either wipes them out or renders them as bad as everyone else are... not good.

    • @72skci72

It's not a bad viewpoint, though. If you can hurt something, it's a reasonable extrapolation that if you hurt it enough, it will be for all intents and purposes dead. In the case of Chaos Gods, it's entirely possible that they would eventually come back, but the new form might be sufficiently different that the world/galaxy is still better off. Heck, it could even snowball. Imagine if someone took out Khorne, Khaine ended up soaking all of that violent energy instead, and used it to go challenge Slaanesh to a rematch.

Honestly in 40k Isha returning would be a massive blow against chaos and more specifically Nurgle and Slaanesh, Nurgle would be weakened because not only would the act of saving Isha probably fuck over his garden for awhile but now he doesn't have a test subject so his plagues won't all be quite up to standard even if its only 1 in 20 that are worse that's still massive, also the potential moral blow depending on how you view his affection towards Isha, and Slaanesh would be weakened because now the Eldar have one of their OG gods back that they actually like being around which would reduce the negative eldar emotions that Slaanesh loves, and she might be able to provide some resistance when an eldar dies and maybe save some souls from getting eaten.

    • @sovietunion7643
      @sovietunion7643 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

there is a few reasons why this might not work.
      1. isha may already be able to escape nurgles garden but chooses not to because the one thing keeping her from being instantly slaanesh vored in the warp is nurgle claiming her under his "protection". freedom means jack shit if the exit door leads right into slaanesh's gaping jaw, so for that reason alone it might not be feasible.
      2. assuming she is able to avoid being immediately eaten by slaanesh, isha just isn't the earth shattering god that the galaxy needs to REALLY change up the status quo. yes isha is powerful, but she is a healer and fertility goddness. she would be able to allow the eldar to procreate faster and field better numbers, heal and/or revive from otherwise deadly wounds, and generally better standard of living for a lot of people in the galaxy, but she doesn't really have any way to reliable protect the eldar from slaanesh. she might be able to use her power to protect a few specific groups eldar here and there and revive them instantly instead of slaanesh consumption, but the eldar still wouldn't be able to use the true might of their pysker powers risk free like they did before slaanesh. isha would definitely shake things up and empower the eldar, but this would likely be offset by chaos and slaanesh especially devoting much more resources to slowing down the eldar. a major eldar god coming back is something 3/4 chaos gods aren't going to like. nurgle for obvious reasons will be pissed off losing his prize, slaanesh once again obvious reasons, and tzeetch would see that isha could shake up his endless schemes and devote demons and schemes to slowing the eldar down. theres also a possibility that certain necron dynasties might see an eldar goddess coming back as a big threat. remember isha was still apart of the war in heaven even if she wasn't at the front lines, so now you have the ancient enemies of the eldar all of a sudden with a decent reason to focus more on the eldar, if not certain dynasties outright crusading against the eldar to try to nip them in the bud before they has time to rebuild in any proper way.
my main point is that while isha coming back would be big for the eldar, it wouldn't necessarily be the instant status quo upheaval that say asuryan coming back would.

Leaving that aside, there's a fanfiction version of 40K (Brighthammer) where Big E was competent, therapy still existed and the primarchs were all more functional versions of themselves. It ended up with Horus nobly sacrificing himself to save reality, and the chaos gods being/becoming gods of order instead (Khorne as the god of noble warriors, Nurgle as the god of life, Tzeentch as the god of wisdom, Slaanesh as the god of art). The whole setting is intentionally noble-bright and focused on high adventure.

  • @Draxynnic
    @Draxynnic 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +29

Before Games Workshop decided to kill Fantasy, there was another potential means hinted at, which is similar to the pylons thing. Basically, there was a mention that while there was a southern gate, it was pretty much contained since between the High Elves and the Lizardmen, there was a ring of functional Old One defences at the south that prevented Chaos from projecting power from that gate. This implies that, theoretically, a similar ring could be formed around the north gate (and might possibly have existed before the High Elf/Dark Elf split and the Dark Elves started corrupting magical sites in Naggaroth). The complication is that the southern ring is mostly protected by ocean which makes it hard for the demon-beastmen at the south pole to launch attacks, while to the north the Norscans are good seafarers and there's a land connection from the Chaos Wastes that mortal followers could attack from (let alone the activities of other destructive races such as the greenskins), so establishing and defending such ring certainly wouldn't be easy. But it might still be more practical than some of the other theoretical possibilities.

I've had a headcanon for a bit now that in 40K, prior to the Great Crusade, there were LOTS of gods that competed with Chaos. Every culture, human or xenos, that had their own religion (assuming it was a theistic one) created one or more gods that maintained a standing in the Warp. It's where the wolf spirits of Fenris come from: the Space Wolves and other Fenrisians are allowed to continue believing in them, so they keep existing.
This, in turn, created a bulwark in the Warp against the forces of Chaos. Sure, as primordial beings, pure emotion is enough to sustain the Ruinous Powers, but they _still_ get a bigger power boost if worshiped directly. If other religions exist, the power given from any given person is likely split between that which Chaos gets and what they direct towards the gods they believe in. In essence, Chaos is only skimming power off the top.
Hell, even most planets that were verifiably possessed of religions based squarely on masks for Chaos weren't really "Chaos planets". Lorgar's planet, or the planet from the _Legion_ novel, weren't corrupted hellholes until AFTER the status quo was knocked off its axis. People were worshiping masks of Chaos gods, but not really _as_ Chaos. Their religions, instead, were the moderated kind that comes from a civilization becoming calcified. They didn't need Chaos in its raw form, and so their society was stable. Not necessarily _just,_ but stable. One could argue the masks they worshiped had become gods with their own identities, responding to the mythology those cultures had built up over them. People adopt beliefs that benefit them, and in a settled society you don't need the excesses of Chaos unless something is already very wrong. (Unless you're the Eldar, who took 65 million years to murder-frick a Chaos god into existence).
In short, the galaxy had many problems during the Age of Strife, but I'd argue Chaos wasn't one of them. Because there was a strong undercurrent of religiosity that innoculated the worlds and their people from Chaos corruption. It's why the Great Crusade wasn't fighting Chaos cults and daemons every step of the way. It was a concern so minor, the nascent Imperium didn't recognize Chaos for what it was, and other civilizations (like the Interex) had a lid on it.
Then the Emperor decided to channel 100% of his Reddit Atheist powers, and waged war on faith itself.
He thought doing that would cut Chaos off for good. No belief, no Chaos. In reality, all it did was burn every heaven, freeze every hell, and murder every god of every culture in the galaxy. You know, the ones, as established, who were _actually_ protecting people from Chaos. Suddenly, the Warp was depopulated of cosmic forces, leaving it wide open for conquest by Chaos.
And because quadrillions of people were suddenly left disallowed or unable to worship their old gods, their whole worlds destroyed and their people enslaved by an Imperium that offered nothing but toil for the war effort, they were much more willing to accept any new belief system. In a time of great rage, despair, pain, and forlorn hope, the Chaos gods were strong, and advertising their services to people whose old gods had failed them.
The reason the Imperium has held out so long against Chaos at this point is because, in the wake of the Emperor's martyrdom, everyone started worshiping him. He became the only game in town. His followers made sure of it. Not that this is too effective, really. Emperor-worship offers little to many citizens, aside from toil, hate, dehumanization, and death. For countless people, there's no solace in the state religion. Hence why, for every Imperial zealot, there's a hundred folk just scraping by, giving lip service to the Emperor to avoid being put to death. There's a reason both Chaos and the Genestealer Cults get constant converts to their cause.
So maybe, just maybe, one step in reducing the effectiveness of Chaos would be to allow people to worship their own gods again. Ones who care about them and don't drive them towards mad excess or fanatical zeal. (Also, improving peoples' material conditions might help. You don't need Chaos if your needs are met and you can just chill.)

If the Warp works like it does in Fantasy and Age of Sigmar, this actually fits perfectly, since in Fantasy, the reason the Chaos Gods didn't make massive gains everywhere despite feeding on all emotions is because the Elven pantheon, the many different Human Gods, the Ancestor Gods, and even the Slann were all making a concerted effort to keep them at bay. In AoS, it's basically the same fight, just more visible.
Emps unintentionally removing all limiters of the Gods he wanted to starve by removing their godly counters would be peak oopsies. Unfortunately, it also means GW would be admitting that the reason the galaxy is as bad as it is is basically solely on the Emperor's actions, and since the Imperium isn't allowed to be the true bad guys, they'll never let that happen in lore, despite it making sense. :c

If he ever stands again, there's A pretty high chance it will be as a god, whether he wants it or not. And he's already wounded Nurgle, even through possessing a primarch. I'd say he could kill one if in person.

My headcanon/idea for what Archaon should have been rather than just like "kill the world and give gayhoas what they want" is that he should have essentially purposefully been trying to act as an evolutionary exctinction event, where he would be trying to have his hearts of iron warriors hunt down anything alive that shows emotion/psychic potential. Essentially trying to force all of life to evolve into blanks since the only things that would end up surviving is if living things adapt to not have the emotions/souls that empower chaos

Another method I think could defeat Chaos in Warhammer 40K is giving people the blank gene.
If you disconnect people from the warp, then there is no way for Chaos to feed on others, and it will get weaker and possibly die. This would probably require the Eldar and the Orcks to die and the Emperor not to be a tyrant wanting to control people, which is why I believe the desire to control is the reason he didn't make his sons and all space marines blanks, but I do think it may be the best solution that does not involve killing everyone outside the ones doomed to die anyway, not sorry Eldar (though there is a chance they could live) or Orck that constantly run towards gun nests. And if they could introduce or activate the gene using a virus, then people's cooperation is not required; you just need to be fast enough to do so before they can stop you before it explodes out of control.

Big E's origin story involves a ritualistic mass suicide of thousands of psykers across ancient Terra, which while not PUBLIC knowledge, is something certain factions have also accounted for. There's a contingency plan for if Terra falls (I think among the Grey Knights?) that involves all of their psykers following suit to empower Kalador Draigo as the same tier of lifeform, and founding a secondary Imperium. It would then make sense that, if you pile up enough psykers, you can get a sizable WARBAND of supreme beings/gods to march into the warp and wreck shop.

Like honor and strength for khorne, drive and perseverance for tzentch, PURE love and happiness for slanesh, and acceptance and familiar love for nurgle!
Then spread those chemical’s all over to maybe make the chaos gods chill out.

How to turn 40k and fantasy into noblebright? Open a warp rift into the Culture Universe and pluck The titular Culture inform them about the situation and sic them on 40k.
The galaxy will become a paradies in a few millenia.

7:21 I recall some fringe science vid talking about how in quantum physics some phenomena travel both forwards and backwards in time. I figure the birth of Slanesh is one of those.

Regarding killing chaos gods, they are basically just big Daemons (more accurately daemons are water drops or cells with them being a storm or body) so they can’t be killed any more than other daemons. This is why the warp is seen as inevitable. Daemons can be created but not killed so it just grows.

Daemons are split from the main body of the Chaos God. True death for daemons results in death by a thousand cuts for the 4.

...Isn't there a snippet in lore that says if you learn a daemon's true name and call them on it, you basically become their master forever?
Tell Khorne to chill the fuck out
Tell Slaanesh to take a break
Tell Tzeentch to go meditate on some ayahuaska or something, just stop overthinking everything
Tell Nurgle to stop smothering Isha and let her out of the garden every one in a while (I'd say let her go, but that... isn't an option)

23:20 I am absolutely certain that if you dropped Doctor Who in 40k he would have dealt with every threat in it by the end of the episode.

I love how in Warhammer killing a literal god is much more feasible than a slight bit of cooperation
