You can see they were all having fun ribbing each other. I thought Nick Bockwinkle was going to burst out laughing. RIP Nick. We. Love and miss you. Be in God's care and love.
In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. Greg Gagne & Jim Brunzell were ranked at #7 in the Tag Team category.
A follow-up comment: In the same issue Greg Gagne was ranked at #3 in the now defunct American Wrestling Association (AWA). Jim Brunzell was ranked at #4 in the AWA. Nick Bockwinkel was the AWA World's Heavyweight Champion and was ranked at #6 in the Most Hated Wrestler category. The magazine, BTW, was Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
Taken out of context, this clip looks kind of strange. You have a guy with a tux, another with a warm-up jacket, then you have two guys with no shirts on and no evidence that they're wearing any kind of pants.
The TV matches were usually shit, but the promos were fantastic. The AWA had Nick, Bobby Heenan, Da Crusher, The Baron, The Mad Dog, Ray Stevens, great promo guys all. I'd go to the kitchen or bathroom during a match, but I'd make sure to be back in my seat for the promos.

The High “Cryers” have been “young” since 1974. Bockwinkel was never over the hill and retired on top. Greg get your stuff together!!!
Jumpin Jimmy Brunzell !!! Loved these days !! Plus Bockwinkel was so fucking smooth on his promos !! a true pro
0:37 - LMAO look at Nick's reaction when Jumping Jim calls him a jackass. 😂😆
Nick was one of a kind!

Darn it! I wanted to get my tickets early but I'm about 30 years too late.
What a physique on Gange!!! He should have been managing a Denny’s.
Well guess some people don't need to hit the gym with a "edge over others"
He actually played varsity football at the University of Wyoming, even with a neck that Jim Cornette described as looking like “a roll of dimes.” 😂

WinConsinSportsNutRW They're all over ebay and usually reasonably priced.
Chris Bryant The original issue is probably worth a lot. The cover photo has a picture of Dusty Rhodes and Mil Mascaras together on the cover.
mkl62 You can get that one for $30 - $50. There's also a replica of that same issue they came out with and you can grab that one for $5 on ebay.
Nick reminds me of Gene Hackman.🤔

Great take bro😂😂 That's why we loved rasslin
Jim Brunzell: Mr. Pectacular
You make it sound like its a mystery! Lol
ACTUALLY GAGNE AND BRUNZELL WERE "THE HIGH CRIERS".
It must be true because Jesse the Body says so. LOL
I think Mr. Saito was sitting in jail with Ken Patera about this time.
I love when Nick said Humanoid!! Lol who said it first? Bobby the brain or Nick?
I believe it was Nick.
I think Nick said humanoids. Bobby, ham and eggers…😂
Bockwinkle was first
Bobby was his manager way back when.
Was this before or after the Winnipeg Arena caught fire like Ric Flair said?
This was before it burned down to the ground.
AWA stuff I just saw your comment in the notifications and I immediately knew it had to be about the Winnipeg Arena lol
It NEVER burned down. It was hit by a comet. Get it straight.
This match was so hot it caused the fire!
Didn't Saito go to jail with Patera at that time?
VolumedMusicMan Yes.
But he was "very successful" there.
Only way to describe a tour of the orient is “highly successful”.
Everyone knows that.
Greg Gagne looked liked he had to piss or something. Boring asf, even Eric Bischoff, a non-wrestler, clowned him.
Gagne sucked
God the AWA was boring!
Dave Heathen better than the s*** they got today
If you can't appreciate Nick Bockwinkel's awesomeness, then you can go fuck yourself. 👍

I loved the Awa.....awesome wrestling and story lines. Not like today...crap!!!
