- Założony ok. 1250 roku przez króla Daniela I Halickiego, który nazwał miasto Lwowem na cześć swojego syna Lwa. Po odrodzeniu Państwa Polskiego w 1918 roku, Lwów to jedno z pięciu głównych miast Polski, obok Warszawy, Krakowa, Wilna i Poznania. Głównymi zabytkami Lwowa są jego liczne kościoły, które po dewastacji w ubiegłych latach stopniowo były przywracane do swych pierwotnych funkcji. Gdy tu ostatnio byliśmy w kościele Dominikanów jeszcz było muzeum religii, a kościół Jezuitów dopiero w 2011 roku oddany został do użytku wiernych. Swego czasu miałem okazję wspiąć się na wieżę Katedry Łacińskiej i wydawało się, że cała konstrukcja drewniana lada moment się rozpadnie. Starałem się pokazać wnętrza ważniejszych kościołów. Wszędzie niestety obowiązuje zakaz fotografowania i filmowania (dla mnie niezrozumiały), więc trzeba robić to "ukratkiem" gdzieś z rejonu wejścia na dużym zbliżeniu. Ten fakt jak i braki w oświetlniu rzutują na jakość uęć. Lwów niewątpliwie jest jednym z piękniejszych miast i historyczne centrum Lwowa zostało w 1998 roku wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Wczasie ostatniego pobytu niestety pogoda nam nie dopisała. Warto nadmienić, że widoczne niemieckie swastyki na Pałacu Potockich są doraźnymi dekoracjami na potrzeby realizacji filmu z okresu wojny. Aktualny stan cmentarza Łyczakowskiego oraz Cmentarz Orląt pokazałem w oddzielnych filmikach

O wielkości i wartości tego pięknego miasta świadczą wszystkie poniższe komentarze, walka o Lwów nadal trwa między Polakami, Ukraińcami a może także innymi nacjami. Mimo to miasto nadal trwa niewzruszone i kusi swoim pięknem wszystkich odwiedzających.

I have never seen Lviv, but I remember an amazing community that was forced to leave this area. I've never met my grandfather and I was told he was a great man. If you ever visit Wroclaw and area where this community was relocated you will feel the vibes of a friendly and cosmopolitan city. I love Wroclaw aka WrocLove. I can only imagine what Lviv was like before the war. I cried watching this movie. I didn't realize how beautiful the city was and it does feel like it was the heart of the Polish cultural life before the war. From what I'm reading Ukrainian and Polish minority who currently live in Lviv are friendly and welcoming. "Only in Lviv" is still sung in Polish and Ukrainian. I think this is awesome. I would like to thank the Ukrainian people for protecting the Polish heritage in the city. I hope Poland and Ukraine will be best friends one day. I definitely fell in love with Lviv. I think it is an amazing city. I hope to visit one day. The world is becoming ONE and cosmopolitan, so all nationalist thinking is becoming a thing of the past. I had a privilege to live in Canada for a while and I believe I will start writing books, so hearts are changed and mental health improves in Poland. I know that we will be uniting and becoming ONE around the world and it is the only sane thing to do. There will be no borders the way they exist today. We will have to make sure we have enough oxygen and food. From my life experience I know there are no bad and good people in the world. Both tendencies are in all of us and we don't want to destroy our beautiful planet Earth acting on those impulses. They are no superior and inferior people in the world. We are all PEOPLE. Please focus on building a peaceful world and a spiritual ascension for the sake of all of us. We all suffered enough. I invite everyone to read books written by Jean Vanier, an amazing Canadian who built Arch communities for people with intellectual disabilities all around the world. One of his books has a title "Becoming Human".

Ukradzione miasto. Niestety dziś neobanderowcy rządzą tym miastem. Prawdziwi Lwowiacy już dawno zostali zmuszeni do opuszczenia tego miasta. Większość z nich dziś mieszka na tak zwanych "Ziemiach odzyskanych" Dolnym Śląsku a w szczególności Wrocławiu. Niestety gwara Lwowska zaginął a Wrocław nigdy nie zastąpi Kulturowej stolicy Polski, Lwów!

tigra kot I believe Ukraine has some more pressing matters for the past 22 years in just getting over being a member of that evil Russian Soviet Empire.
During Soviet times all churches that were non 'Russian" Orthodox churches were not allowed to be used, they were illegal as you know from 1945 to 1991. Many churches went into disrepair.
The Basilian order has only had 22 years if that to use that church.
Organs are not used in Greeko Catholic Churches as the liturgical music is acapella singing only. So the organ just sits unused.
Perhaps you could start a dialogue with the head of the Basilian order in Rome to get that organ transferred to a Roman Catholic Church that would be suitable either to another R/C in Ukraine or to Poland.
It is a shame not to use and to restore such a historic organ.
As you know recent events in Ukraine are more pressing and unsettled.
However, I would contact the head of that church and or the head of the order in Rome.
That is all I can suggest.

PS there are so few Roman Catholics in Lviv to have more than a few churches Perhaps even a regular mass in order to use the organ could be arranged for R/C people? Just another idea.
It would cost a fortune to restore the organ and the money and craftsmen would be hard to come by. Good luck, I hope you meet with success.

jack60091. You would be very wecome. Lviv is very welcoming especially for long lost Ukrainians, particularly now. A family member just returned from Warsaw, Lviv and Kyiv visit and found people were very helpful and friendly. He lost his mobile phone in Kyiv and teenage kids went looking for it, found it and would not accept a reward. He found the youth particularly admirable in manners and charm plus the youth know English.

WW2 made for some strange alliances- it was survival. Poles fought with Soviets, because of the western alliance with Stalin. Ask any Pole now was it a mistake, did they like living under communism? Just look at the solidarity movement- that should answer you.

Our land & people were split in two by two occupiers Poland and Russia. The history on both sides is not pretty, but it was much worse under Russia. I know. You see one side of my family comes from near Kyiv and the other side comes from Lviv. So I know 1st hand what each side experienced.I have read history at Uni level and researched specific areas. Recent history is very revealing.
As a Ukrainian patriot, I resent having been occupied. Ukraine now is a sovereign state and I want it to stay that way. I know my Ukrainian language, history, culture and would make a deal with the devil himself, for Ukraine to stay free. Russia poses a threat already seen in Crimea. Certain factions in Poland would also love their Colony back.
