You can hang bells, mistletoe, or anything from the middle of each arch. And you could make waterproof gifts to put along the walkway as well. It looks so good!
I wonder how this would look if you used those lights that go over bushes and shrubs. A blanket of lights over the arches to make a tunnel of holiday cheer! ❤
Well done! I love it when simplicity produces such great results. It's great as is or could be added to in a variety of ways with other decorations & change them for different holidays.
Super Sweet of you to do for your parents. It looks beautiful us helps a person to see the walkway! You are so kind to your parents and I'm sure they appreciate your helpfulness! Happy New Year!!!
I was planning on going big with Christmas this year , inside and out. But then we got a puppy. And nothing is safe, if it touches the floor it's hers and gone before you have a chance to pick it up. She's better than any decoration and brings some much needed laughter to what has been a very rough year for us. You've given me some great ideas for next Christmas. Happy New Year
There are so many ho-hum DIY videos. This on really is exciting and beautiful. What a fun idea, and so relatively easy! I think it would be even easier if you wrapped the lights before putting the tubes on the stakes. THANK YOU for the inspiration.
Yes mom, keep it up all year! The lights are white. When I lived in my condo, I left my white lights up around my big dining room window that abutted my deck; so cheery! Now I'm in a senior apartment complex and a lot of us leave our string of lights on our balconies year-round. You can add specific colors for other holidays: Green for St. Patrick's Day, red for Valentine's Day, and my favorite, red/white/blue for 4th of July, Memorial Day, & Veteran's Day (found at Hobby Lobby). Enjoy that labor of love every night.
What a creative idea!! So smart and easy. Living up in northern Michigan, I would have to put this one up early. The cold and snow would make it a challenge and the lights on the ground would be buried with snow by the end of the year. I got a kick out of seeing her put these up in her tee-shirt and bare feet!!
Instead of along the ground, you could string them higher if they were long enough. You'd have to double back up the arch some though. I'm in Québec, so they'd disappear here too. Got a chuckle about the t-shirt too, lol.
This is literally the smartest idea ever! Wish this video had been posted in mid November so I could of done it but next Christmas will also be fun! 🎄❄
That looks GREAT, thank you for sharing. I've always wanted an arch over my driveway. This looks sooo much easier than using PVC ...I already have an idea of how to use this arch for Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas. Thanks again.
Well we are also brilliant 😄 and our neighborhood has been doing arches for quite some time. We use rebar and PVC that way we can have the round shape, cathedral shape, or rooftop shape. We put them up and down the sidewalks so kids love it when they run through them.
Love this. Have been wanting to do this over my driveway (it's fairly short) but have never pulled the trigger. Now if I do, I have an idea of how to get this done.
Great idea for your American Christmas but here we've had 5 straight days of temperatures🌡️above 40°C and all those beautiful arches would go soft and limp. Have a very Happy New Year everyone 🌡️🎉🥂🍾🇦🇺
Such a great idea.. Love the arches.. Oly doubt is whether it will withstand a windy or a snowstorm day.. We can secure the structure by adding more support to both pipe ends and broomstick bases maybe with some weights😊
This is just ingenious!!!!! Thinking maybe we will do this and leave it up year round and add lights per holiday. Like add red for Valentine's day then blue for 4th of July, etc. So cool!!!
I wondered how this was done and now I see how I can use in a garden or patio. BUT, I love using the solar light strings. You can get 300 footers of string solar fairy lights online, cheap and worth it. I have some that I have had for about 3 years now and still work.
Omg I love love love this!! I love in an apartment so this will be great for me to do!! Thank you thank you so much for showing this!! Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
I would have added more than just 3 up to six maybe. Brilliant using dollar tree broomstick for the posts. They are enameled metal and the interior dimensions of in-ground sprinkler line piping( black pvc hose sort of) easily fits over the broomstick. 👍🏻😁
I built arches across a double car driveway. 3' pieces of rebar and 3/4" pvc was the only thing sturdy enough to span the driveway. I tried 1/2" pvc and it was too flimsy. Cover the pipe with garland and lights and you're good to go. The cheap dollar store handles and sprinkler pipe is probably fine for a narrow sidewalk
Wrap the arch before you put them on the broom handles and secure with a zip tie here and there. I am vertically challenged and also afraid of heights so getting on a ladder is not an option for me.
If u live in windy area drive taller rebar (or T posts) further into the ground. We have done this with saplings we thinned from our woods, just zip tied to T posts. TSMFS!

Last week I was asking my mom how do they make those arches! You have just answered my question. Brilliant thank you
Brilliant....and the arches mimic the arched windows, classy!
Such a creative idea and so easy I believe even I could do it!!
@Joyce Smith, I agree! This looks Amazing & so easy that a Caveman could do it!😂
I wonder how this would look if you used those lights that go over bushes and shrubs. A blanket of lights over the arches to make a tunnel of holiday cheer! ❤
That would be a very nice touch!!!
Good thought!
It’d be really cool. Feel like ur at the chick-fil-a drive thru!
That may be even more amazing than this already was.
They look amazing!! My neighbor did this and I'm stealing it next year.
What a lucky mom and dad. You are wonderful Chas Merry Christmas from TN
That's a great idea. I'm going to send this video to a few people that have this type of walkway. Thank you
Now I've want to add lights around their doors and the pillars... I just love lights. Such a great idea!
What a fun, fantastic idea! Versatile!
That's so pretty 😍
I can picture the tops with the hanging icicle style lights and maybe the ornament balls in the middle.
Looks great
I’ve alway wanted an archway for Halloween. This looks like one I could do myself. Thanks
EXCELLENT idea! Spider webs, spooky lights, bats - you're a genius! 🕷🕸🦇🧙♀️🙋🏽♀️✌🏽
Great idea!
@@bkitteh6295 Great idea🎃👻

What a sweet surprise for your parents!!! Very cool.
Super Sweet of you to do for your parents. It looks beautiful us helps a person to see the walkway! You are so kind to your parents and I'm sure they appreciate your helpfulness! Happy New Year!!!
You're such a good daughter, thank you!
Love it! I'm with your mom on the all through the year thing. That's what I intend to do. Thx

@Judy Bogdanovich. You sound like fun! Can I be your neighbor?? 👋🏼😄🙋🏽♀️
@@bkitteh6295 Sure, if you're 55 or older! Happy New Year
I agree, all year sounds good to me. You could change out other holiday specific decorations throughout the year.
@@jodybogdanovich4333 I'm in a very similar gated type complex, and also first floor apartment, best time of my life, I love it. Happy New Year 🎉🇦🇺
Anybody that leaves lights up all year should be locked up and the key thrown away!!!
Wonderful idea. So beautiful!!

@River Woman I was thinking the same thing!

I'm in Québec, so they'd disappear here too. Got a chuckle about the t-shirt too, lol.
I would put up at Halloween and leave till New Years.
I love it. I'd like it to have more arches added to make it really full. You did a wonderful job. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
Great for an at home wedding. Love it.
This is literally the smartest idea ever! Wish this video had been posted in mid November so I could of done it but next Christmas will also be fun! 🎄❄

Great idea and you could leave it up all year to welcome visitors!

I'm glad to see the stands kept taught, to keep wildlife from getting entangled. (Every year I see deer with lights in their antlers.)
I absolutely love it!

Would a regular garden hose work just as well?
@@cziegle3794 A garden hose would work as well as rope.
@@cziegle3794 A garden hose is more pliable and would not work. It would collapse.
