  • American Author, Crystal Owonubi, spoke with SaharaTV's Adeola Fayehun about transitioning from living in Arkansas to Jos, Nigeria. Owonubi, a Caucasian American, married a Nigerian man. When his American visa expired he was forced to leave, and she relocated to Nigeria against the will of her family. She lived there eight years, and also discusses her book, "Peace In An Unlikely Place", the story of her relocation to Nigeria.

Powerful testimony. Lesson for marriages. When we allow God, He will break generational things we don't want. Her mum was married 5 times. For her to keep her marriage she had to go to her husband's country Nigeria, live under unfamiliar conditions. Her faith and endurance made her prevail. C O N G R A T U L A T I O N

She is a daughter of God..: that's the only thing that allowed her to remained faithful in such adversity. The title to this video should be "I trusted Jesus, and that's the best decision I ever made". A regular woman would have left without a second thought.

This women is awsome. I also understand where she is coming from. I remember the first time I went to the Philippine many years ago. I felt like I went back in time by 200 years when I left the city and went out into the country. No running water, no electricity and no telephone. I had to do everything by hand. I had to wash my close down at the river or at a neighbor's waterwell. We even grew our own foods, raise chickens and ate rice every day. It was tough but I adjusted to everything in just a couple of weeks. It even became fun and I was content with the life changes. What also made it easy to adjust was that everyone was poor so there was no greener grass on the other side of the fence or neighbors to be envy of. One thing that I learned is that if ever something bad happens in our life that would send us back to the stone age, I will not have problems living without all of the modern conveniences. As long as there is food, soap and water i think I will do ok.

Wow.. Listening to this changed me already. I am buying her book. If you have lived in both countries ( the US and Nigeria) you will realise what it takes for someone who grew up in the states to move to Nigeria because of marriage to live at the one of the lowest condition. I know many people born in Nigeria who lived in the US or abroad for a longtime but could not adjust to living in Nigeria after they v left for a long time. This could only be the love of God in her heart.

Thanks for this interview. Many in America hypocritically still deny the persistence of racism in America even though the signs are everywhere. I know that a loving woman like this, will be literally 'worshiped' by her in-laws. I pray God will continue to make you comfortable even with the hostility from your father, Madam. You will never have cause to regret. Amen! Wo Bro, don't let her down o. We love you Madam. Ride on!

What type of man takes a woman to a foreign land and cannot provide for her? I have two Nigerian children, I am very well aware of the conditions in Nigeria. She’s not on Victoria Island. We’ll see how long she can stand her present condition. My hope is that her husband can provide for his family. It may have been better for her husband to go before her and find work then she join him, for the sake of the children. th-cam.com/video/gCtNtphX6fc/w-d-xo.html. She didn’t stay.

    • @josephgomalo41
      @josephgomalo41 9 ปีที่แล้ว

WRONG.. many African men have married white women in other countries.. and it isnt a big deal.. you wouldnt see it on TV.. and yet these white women have to adopt foreign cultures all the time.. you people simply have big heads and love to boast of things which are insignificant.. I have hung out with guys from Nigeria a lot, even worked with some of them.. its always about ignorant brags.. If it is a stunt to counter the many bad stories on Nigerians ranging from online conmen (419?), drugs trafficking and prostitution hostels in South Africa and other places in Europe (some of which involve white women!) and a generally tarnished Nigerian reputation worldwide at least I can understand that.. but a white woman marrying an African man and adopting a new culture isnt "news" at all.. One British woman even divorced her longtime husband to marry a Maasai warrior in the 90s in Kenya .. I guess you understand what a pastoral culture and life style is.. but she stayed; and it hardly made news until that man couldnt get his visa extended by UK government.. thats when it occurred in newspapers; Botswana even had a white first lady.. Big Deal..! You guys are just dickheads..

wonderful story I pray God blesses your marriage. I will be marrying my love in Nigeria on the 18th of February 2016. I love the culture and the village life. I told my husband I want to be a village wife. he laughed but I was serious because of the endless love I have for him I really would rather we live in lagos.

Who was the inspired person that painted the piano keys with white and black? This is reflected not only in music but in other aspects, an honorable man is the one that is dressed in white shirt, black pant and black shoes, most diplomatic and official government automobiles are black. The story of Herr Fritz and Herr Hans had Nazism succeeded.

It is news because a white woman from the racist deep south of America came to Nigeria to find herself and rid herself of generational American racism. You laugh and scoff out of your own ignorance and self-loathing. This kind of hateful talk is sad. Applaud the BRAVERY and COURAGE of a young white woman who went to great lengths for love and family! Shame on you for hateful comments.

***** No, this is NOT what this is (genuine curiosity). Having been to Africa and lived around Blacks/Africans all my life I know better. White/European culture and aesthetics are more dominate and esteemed than is the African.

Granted, Black and white union is not a rarity these days(yeah, we've all had our fair share of interracial dating/marriage) but if anyone is familiar with the ''down-south'' in American South, you would understand that this is a very interesting story. Listen to the lady's narratives and inurement to the local lifestyles and you should be able to infer something useful from this story.
I know that a lot of Americans would find this as an interesting story as well.

Turn to JESUS CHRIST to get eternal life. Read the Bible and pray, daily and regularly.
    How to Pray:
Kneel in a secret place or in church and talk. GOD reads your mind and knows your thoughts. Matthew Chapter 6 Verses 5 to 8.
Before any other prayer, you must confess your sins to GOD and ask for forgiveness. Proverbs Chapter 15 Verse 8.
Read the Bible daily in order to know what to pray for. James Chapter 4 Verse 3
    How to Read the Bible:
NEVER read the Bible without praying first.
In the prayer, ask GOD to put the Holy Spirit in you that HE would teach you what you are reading. Then true understanding will be in you.
