Education was never equitable to begin with, so this kind of "reward" system actually oppresses students experiencing poverty and discrimination from systemic institution's like schools. Adrienne was wrong ALL kids do deserve nice meals I don't care if they have a A or a C no kid should be shamed at their grade just to get lunch at school. Yes, a child should be rewarded for good grades but don't make the other children feel bad because they are struggling in school.
Also not all kids are equal. Some are good at academics, some are good at other skills. Kids come from different backgrounds. Celebrate them kids. Not segregate them.

@@MajesticMyronn you guess the east way to manage that is to say if you reach your target grade? Or you move up a grade/maintain the current grade if your getting straight As. Every kid is different and each have their own goals to reach and need encouragement. I don’t think the food line is the best idea but with better management it might be help in some way. My kids get field trips for good behavior and that also have awards ceremonies to honor those who are well behaved or those who earn good grades. Lunchtime isn't the time to pick who eats first based on grades, a celebration can be made for those who are excelling in school. Also, a lot of children only get to eat the school meal and don't have food at home. They should not be forced to wait if their grades aren't high enough. I am thankful to be able to provide for my kids and to also give them incentives at home for good behavior and grades
It is better to celebrate those high achiever kids at school like "best students award" or something. The school can award them with trophies, certificates, gifts etc. This will motivate other students to work harder.

If lunch is the incentive then I say just give the ones who scored higher or did the best a different type of lunch or something extra as a good job. In public schools, lunch is free so you can’t necessarily use that as an incentive. On the other hand I agree with Tamera’s perspective, but making kids work hard constantly to only give out one huge reward still isn’t fair. Incentives should be given by the teacher personally. Give that person a pass on a pop quiz, exempt them from writing the paper, give them extra gym time, but don’t use what they have a right to as an incentive. And let’s be honest, no kid is really gonna follow that rule they’re definitely gonna break the line.
