Your choice of games aline exactly what I am looking for. Please show more rpg games from gba, gbc and gameboy❤. You introduced me first to "Maze of Fate" from GBA.
Good review! I've never even heard of this game, but it looks quite fun! I love learning about "new" retro games! I definitely will check this one out! The GameBoy is the very definition of "comfort gaming"!
Okay, I haven't watched this yet. But I just want to say that the true measure of how fast my life is flying by is the frequency that DGS videos seem to come out. Have I done with my life?!
Memory unlocked. I was too young when I played it on the Gameboy. I chucked it after a few minutes. Would've probably enjoyed it, too, if i was a little older. Good review.
The turn based aspect and monster catalog almost reminds me of Pokeeeeeemonnnn gotta Ketchum all! Has anyone ever noticed how Ash's last name is Ketchum and the slogan is Gotta Catch Em All? Like Ketchum has to get all of the Pokemon only 😮
This game was a lot of fun and with a banger to start the year with. This one goes into the top 5 of dusty games I’ve played so far 😁. Thanks again Techdweeb 😎👊
Great greed is a very interesting RPG that with it's controls make it stand out, besides the weirdness with the food and environment themes. So much so that the next RPG games with those type of controls, I can only think of is Star Ocean and tales of phantasia, way before games like legend of legaia and xeno gears were made. Namco made the formula and would keep you interested in the game with being able to interact with it.
I love this game. When pretty much my entire Gameboy game collection got thrown out by mistake during a move in 99 (I was left with just the game my parents bought me to have something new to play until my room was setup and my games unpacked. Which turned out to be my least favorite video game of all time) this was the game I spent the most time tracking down a replacement copy. I'll never understand why it didn't become a series or at least get a re-release on the 3DS Virtual Console. Edit: I wonder which Princess is which on the Japanese cover. I'm guessing upper left is Gum Drop because she looks like she's been separated from her beloved to me, and Gum Drop is the only Princess with a pre-game love interest. Lower right looks younger so I'm guessing that's Cupcake. Upper right is clearly Citrus the fighting princess. I'm not sure is the auburn haired princess in the center is Truffle, and the blond on the lower left Candy or vice versa though.
Yeah I agree with your assessment about which princess is which. I'm gonna guess that the auburn haired princess is Candy. Perhaps the answers are out there!
great video dweeb. personally i've been playing quite a bit of pico-8 games on my handhelds. they are amazing. that looks like a quirky, fun rpg tho. think i'm gunna smoke a j and play some nuclear throne. str8 hooked on nuclear throne. it never gets old 2me... cheers td! thanks for the video brother. rock on!!
So I own and have played this one but I cant remember if I finished it. I think it was new off the shelf but discounted so I gave it a go but all I remembered was food food food, like you know - if someone hasnt played it they wouldnt get just how constant the food theme was.
I know a dusty retro game. It's called, you're back in 9th grade. Now, try to read the Icewind Dale trilogy from behind a textbook while your math teacher isn't paying attention in class.
@@Surai00 I was born the year the original GBA came out. It was also hilarious when my high school made the "no touchscreen during the day rule" because my PSP was everything I was using for at the time, just without the touchscreen xD
Just recently subscribed. Do you have video on your favorite OS for handhelds? I see you had lots of vides on the handhelds themselves, but didn't see one on your thoughts specifically on OS like onion, garlic, etc. or if it even matters in the long run or rather if it should matter when picking a handheld.
Welcome! Nope I've never made a video on my favourite OS's. I don't think that would be helpful because most OS's aren't cross-compatible. They can only be used on one device. Although I will answer your question. My favourite OS is Batocera (and on handhelds that would be Knulli, which is a Batocera fork).
It's been forever since I've touched a JRPG, I think I might have to check this one out. Now, the only question is on which handheld do I play it? Thanks TD.
Another classic DGS review. Thanks, Dweeb! If anyone wants to see another take, classic RPG reviewer HUNGRY GORIYA also did a review of the game a few years back. Worth the watch (and worth a follow for the channel in general). th-cam.com/video/bj0dKTsnO4g/w-d-xo.html
TechDweeb I don't know how but you always read my mind publishing videos about devices I'm considering buying 😂 Do you think this device is good for anything else besides GBC, Pico, etc? Like GBA for instance, I read it has GBA x3 Pixel Perfect like the RG34XX (but a much better device IMO). I own the PowKiddy V10 and I wonder if this would be a better device for GBA
Yeah this is still great for pretty much everything except 16:9 stuff. I have no problem playing 4:3 stuff or even gba on it because the screen is amazing and it's also just a generally very enjoyable and comfortable device.
Enable 'fast forward toggle' in the game settings from the main menu. Then you can enable the fast forward with menu+Dpad-Right. You can also change the fast forward binding using the 'customize hotkeys' option which is described here: knulli.org/configure/retroarch/custom-hotkey-shortcuts/
I found I didn't hit any difficulty humps until the final dungeon. However I did grind out many levels at various points just to stay ahead of the curve.
Yeah that's how it works. I have a post for the game that covers what it is and how to play it. If you want to chat with the others in the DGS you can join the discord server and you'll have access to the secret member's area. And at the end of the month I collect everyone's final review.
Man, I love these reviews. You got a sense of style that I really gel with, dweeb.
I was literally just going through the dgs playlist wishing there was one i hadnt watched yet 😂
Fate smiles upon you!
These game review videos are some of my favorites
Awesome! I’m not a part of the DGC, but glad you guys found this game. I’ve never heard of it, but will definitely give it a shot. It looks so great!
I got this game when I was about 8 years old. I got every jrpg game I could at that age. You’re the first person I’ve even see talk about this game.
This has always been one of my favorite Gameboy games, and no one has ever heard of it.
I was so surprised to see it show up on your channel!
You guys were playing the same game as me? Wild. I just bought the cart a few weeks ago. Expensive.

Great video dweeb. Explaining Walker Texas Ranger made me feel old🧓
This is what I'm after. Reviews as if it were 1992. THANK YOU!
I went from NES/Gameboy to DOS...and never went further. My dust is thick.
You're in the right place
Always a good time when the dusty game society comes out with a new game review.
Perfect timing dweeb, just finished super Mario land on my RG Nano!
Love this series, thanks Dweeb
I am obviously glad to see this game covered.
Pudinhed!? Is that you!?
@@TechDweeb I honestly went by PUDINHED as my name on several sites for quite a while!

Yeah I was the same. Young me didn't have patience for RPGs. I'd be like, 'all these people do is talk, when can we fight!?'
Game Boy time with Tech King
Thanks TD, let me just go ahead and add this to my never ending "to play" list 😅😅
Yup. We all have that neverending list. :P
Cool stuff Manerid! ❤
Looks cool! I've been currently playing around with my old Bittboy and well... I am currently going to the factory. 😆
Great Greed is one of my favorite games of all time! I've played it maybe 20 times front to back.
Maybe the princess was pitying the guard lying on the floor for literally becoming lame (unable to walk) due to his injuries? 🤔
Whatever she was doing, it didn't come across well :P
Just added it to my favorites list. Looks really good
Neat! Going to try it out ASAP
Thanks. I'm definitely playing this game. Looks very interesting.

pff, next youre gonna tell me that misty and brock have a reason behind their names...get real
@0Akeldama0 I am pretty real .... Wait "pinched myself" yup real. ✌️
This would be the weirdest version of pokemon if that was allowed. The true meaning of "food fight"!

Yeah! I'm super happy with this one. I want to find a bunch more with this kinda vibe to them :D
Love your game reviews!
The odds I have an Anbernic laying there when I find this which is almost the same model is so funny to me. Gg's those things are great!

Oh my! My phone volume was at max and my ears hurt the first time 😅
But thanks for the recommendation! Gonna check it out!
Sorry about your eardrums :S
Huh, I loved my Gameboy and my main focus has always been RPGs but somehow I've never seen this game before! I'm gonna check this out.
Will try it. Looks like a cross between Zelda and Pokémon
Played an hour or so... It's good for a GB game. Its a good game with fast forward feature in today's busy life

Hi, can I know more about the mini Game Boy at 0:48?
It's a gameboy watch with no strap on it.

what handheld did you use?
I dont remember which Anbernic it was. Tech dweeb calls it the Shizzbizzldizzy or so.
Just watch his recent video about all his favourite handhelds
the square screen one throughout the video is the rgcubexx, which is great for gameboy.

Rg cubeXX has a 4" 1:1 720p screen, so only a little bit stretched it is.
Nope. Native GB aspect ratio of 10:9 with smuberstep interpolation.
