chalk it up to a combination of creative liberties and a lack of available sound channels.
yes, i am aware of the Unreal game and its demoscene connections. i don't think i be working on many demoscene covers, at least until i complete my backlog of original work first. thanks.

I've seen the release of Second Reality a few months after Assembly 93 and, you sir, you brought me back to the days i was in the north american demo scene. Thank you so much for keeping this era alive with this awesome port. :)

You deserve lots of kudos and respect for this. I am not familiar with the Korg DS10 program and I have no idea what it took you to re-create this on the DS10, but as I've heard it you did a wonderful job with creating everything up to the detail as it was on the original demo music. I grew up with this, I was a teen when this came out and we used to listen to this so many times. Respect dude!

This is truly stunning. Not least because the original music was done with PCM and a sample tracker. Capturing the feel of the original using a virtual analogue synthesizer can't have been easy! It's so very nearly a perfect recreation, and the differences are down to the platform, I only notice due to my familiarity with the material, and aren't worth mentioning! An astounding piece of work.

thanks! i plotted down 95% of the note data from memory, but there were a couple of points where i did refer to the original S3M just to make sure i had it right. the instrument sounds were the result of a lot of tweaking and trial and error.

Hell yeah! Unreal 2 was a legendary demo and this song was clearly an important part of what made it awesome! Really rad to hear a cool DS-10 arrangement of it!

      > Unreal 2 was a legendary demo
      So much THIS.
The original sound file, 2nd_PM.S3M, is still the #1 download on some module (music files ending with .MOD and some closely related file formats like .STM and .S3M) hosting sites. A search engine finds those easily (and legally - the demo has been released for all non-commercial use in 2013 IIRC). For playback, module players are available for many platforms: WinDOS, Linux, MacOS, Android, etc. usually free of charge. VLC is decent, too.
The official title of the demo is "Second Reality" as seen on the title screen about 2 minutes into the demo, or "Unreal ][", the name during development. If you google for "Unreal II", you usually find the game.

Wow. You really are a master at korg ds-10. It's very hard to do live what you did in that video. thumbs up!!

@bryfacetron And I also think you forgot this bass drum in the beginning of the same track.
Anyway, did you also try to remake some tracks from the 1998 video game "Unreal"? I think you'll do some pretty good job. You know that the 2 main composers for the game, Alexander "Siren" Brandon and Michiel "MCA" Van Den Bos, once worked in the demoscene? And I'm pretty sure that many of the synth samples they used were sampled from a Korg synth.

i would if i could! "aquaphobia" is one of my favorite PM tunes. i think it would require at least a DS-10+ in order to get those sweet vibrato chords in there though.

@bryfacetron I think that in the beginning of track #2 you could've gradually increase the volume of the synth.

You should try remaking the song with the Korg DSN-12. It has 12 synths instead of 2, it's patterns can be extended to 64 steps, and there are 64 patterns (16 each in a, b, c, D). You can also save a lot of patches.

What about "Aquaphobia" and "Global Motion" remakes now? :)

You can't have possibly re-entered the pattern data on that thing with the pen. (Please tell me you exported S3M => MIDI and then MIDI => that gameboy-looking music device.)
