Ive seen bauer in the Mexican league talk about his 'cutter' or smaller slider that he uses in 0-0 or 0-1 counts to get ahead that kind of traps hitters in a mid speed pitch so he can use his other stuff with larger movement and different ends of spectrum of velo to get hitters out(sweeper, curveball and fastball). So this smaller movement or bridge pitch seems to also be a timing disruption to get hitters off your other stuff. Movement and velo differential for a 'bridge' pitch kinda sick double whammy that benefits a pitchers whole arsenal
After the Dodgers DS, I said there was NO closer I’d fear more than King in the league. And I still can’t believe how little smoke this guy gets in the press. Dude is beyond the beyonds. 😮💨🤦♂️
Great talk...one other question i wouldve wondered is how the pitch mix & usage changed from when he was a reliever to then becoming a starter, he mentioned more pitch to poor contact vs strictly strikeout stuff tho, loved this convo
Him and Treinen got to be two of my favorite pitchers
I miss my king Mike King.
As a giants fan I hate being at the receiving end of king but at the same time I just got to appreciate how incredible his stuff is

Treinen vibes with that sinker/sweeper overlay
Mom, dad wake up, pitching ninja dropped another banger
Padres definitely won the Soto Yankees trade!
Hitters are overrated. Respect to pitchers out there
