  • 1931 Ford Model A Roadster build... This time we cut up a 1939/40 torque tube to work with the 1935 rear axle and hook to the trans! We had to take out the 1935 torque tube because they more of a tube instead of a solid shaft. They are also tapered to the outside ends so shortening one would be impossible. We grabbed an extra 1939 torque tube and drive shaft we had laying around and it worked out great!
    The parts we're using...
    1931 Roadster Body
    Stock A Chassis
    Mercury 8ba engine
    34 dropped axle
    Juice brakes
    F1 Trans crossmember
    1935 Ford Rear Axle
... and a bunch of other parts!!

Cool video. I’ve read about how to do this but never seen or done it myself. Was wondering if you were going to replace pinion bearings or rebuild rear since you might have gotten welding splatter on the exposed bearings when you welded driveshaft coupler pins in place.

The way I've done all mine is cut the torque tube to fit and what ever you cut out of torque tube is the same length you cut out of the drive shaft. Never had an issue. And I always use the 46 style radius rods they are shorter and disappear quicker under the frame.

Thank you! No the only part of the bearing exposed was the flat end. Won't be any problem with it. These rearends are tough.

In a perfect world... LOL I had to shorten the flanged end a little more when shortening the torque tube so no real exact measurement.

Looks great! Where did you get the 6 to 10 spline couple?
