First time I watched it I knew Grace was dead right away when I saw the intro. Tommy all alone, cold stare, the sad into music. All the signs were there.
No matter what anyone says, Grace is dead because of John’s need to show off. And that ass of a brother has some nerve going off on Tommy when his wife died because of his refusal to listen.
It was not John's refusal to listen, it was him acting like a dick at the meeting. If he was cool and calm like Tommy, instead of insulting them, the Italian guy wouldn't have treated to kill him, John wouldn't have ended up cutting the Italian, and the Italians wouldn't retaliated. Apologizing or Compromising would create a horrible look, especially considering the amount of enemies they had. Tommy even said that at the family meeting, and he came up with the only possible follow-up to John's attack, which was to push forward.
@@mennovandenbosch5505 That was just the best possible response to John being a dick at the meeting. Even though apologizing and/or compromising would be a horrible move on their part, If John had not insulted the italianItalians meeting this would never happen.
Dumb comment. Grace is dead because she decided to leave her other husband and marry a GANGSTER. She knew the consequences of this life. And not once did you ever hear Tommy blame John for Grace's death in this show because he understood what had to be done in the moment, even if he would have handled it slightly better. He still agreed with it. John wasn't showing off, he refused to let the Changretta's walk over his family. Arthur was being too soft in the moment. Pay attention.
This was a great episode, but I have a different perspective on John's actions. He basically got this mess started by being so disrespectful to Mr. Changretta (spelling?) in the beginning. Then, the attack against his son. So, John suddenly having a conscience is pretty empty, in my opinion.
This is a pretty ridiculous and stupid comment. "John suddenly having a conscious is pretty empty"... Huh? What John did, he did to GANGSTERS. John doesn't go around murdering women for the fun of it like some mindless psychopath. John felt his family were being disrespected by the Changretta's and he shut that down. So, why would he kill the wife for no reason just because Tommy said so? That would make him pretty empty.
@@samwynne5364 Tommy was right when he said that, it was John who handled the situation like an amateur. Instead of being cool and calm like Tommy, he had to act like a tough guy and even insult the Italians at the meeting. Still, John treated them like dogs and Tommy came up with the only possible alternative to John's fuck up. In all fairness to Quinn, Answer is sitting where Oak usually sits 😅 i can't help but smile when Quinn & Oak mention "Grandsire" & great reactions to Arthur's "Linda is up the swanny" line 😄 like how invested Dave is with the story being adamant Grace is still alive, what alot of intense scenes in this episode, with dialogue between Arthur/Michael with guns, John/Tommy at meeting & Arthur/John disobeying Tommy to save their school teacher, i think you're right, Arthur shot him to save Tommy from a deep, dark place if he'd gone through with torture. Fookin' great stuff as always BM! 😁💚💙
Props to Cillian Murphy and his acting in the "torture" scene. He gets so lost in character where it feels that you're actually watching a snuff film. Acting is absolutely superb.
Hey guys I hope that you notice that Time Passes in chunks. So what you think is a few days is really months later. I am mentioning this (or reminding you) because there are going to be some HUGE Time jumps.
18:52 - "Tommy was gonna go to a real dark place for a really long time". Lmao, you guys have to get the fact that he was in the war and he has seen much worse than this. He is already in a very dark place mentally since the war, he has so much guilt and remorse in his heart but he never shows it to anyone and still carries on like a stoic.
I'm in the minority, but I couldn't stand Grace and was glad when they killed her off. Nothing about PB is predictable, and that's what's so refreshing. Tommy would have sabotaged his marriage if she'd lived. He never really wanted her, he wanted to win it all since the true Tommy died in the war, and what came back was a version of himself that continued warring for the sake of it. PB is the evolution of a man who had no other plan than to achieve as much he could and get away with it.
He never loved Grace!! Are we watching the same show. He only pinned away for her for two years. He thought he was going to die at the end of season two & Grace was the only thing on his mind.
My issue with Arthur's wife is that she knew he was a gangster when she got with him. Why marry him then expect him to change? Same thing with Grace. They both went into these relationships willingly knowing the risks.
I feel ya DD...Grace's death took me by huge surprise. I only just recently binged this show so i never watched it in real time nor when it came originally to Netflix. I actually had to pause it for about a week after this episode cause this show show is so heavy & i was so invested in Tommy & Graces story that i couldnt binge anymore after this ep. I needed time to process. To me, thats the sign of an amazing show. I know everyone has diff styles, but if i have to turn off a show for awhile cause im so sucked into it that i find myself constantly thinking about it i have to take a break for my own mental health. I will say though after my break, i was able to refocus & really enjoy the darker turn in the tone of the show from here on til the end. No spoilers, but i did have to take another binge break later in another season. So glad yall gave this show a chance. Its just so dang good!!❤💞❤️
I'm surprised that none of you recognised the voice of the actor playing the factory foreman (Ralph Ineson). He made a film with a someone (who will appear in PB later), that caused quite a stir in horror circles a few years ago.
Everyone who likes to say it's John's fault Grace is dead, I can tell they don't understand what they're watching lol. There's a reason why Tommy never once blamed John in this show for that but y'all don't understand this world enough to understand that. Dig a little deeper, people.
