  • Here is a classic video from our archives with Bill Spicer catching massive Brook Trout on dry flies and bomber patterns at Igloo Lake Lodge in Labrador. This remote location has access to excellent eastern brook trout, northern pike and other species! Bill discusses equipment, fly pattern choices for Labrador and presentation techniques. Before anyone posts, this episode was recorded many years ago when C&R "experts" insisted everyone use gloves to tail and hold trout and other species. This show was recorded with the previous owners of the lodge and the fishing is still EXCELLENT! Give the new owner, Craig Gillingham, a call at 709-424-4324 or visit their website.

Looks like your wearing cloth gloves, holding tail , before you release it. That glove can remove their protective slime compromising their skin to get infections..

Thanks Jackie, if you read our description it has a disclaimer about the gloves given the date this was produced. Cheers

Why does he put on a cotton glove to handle the fish? Isn’t the goal to catch and release?

Igloo Lake Lodge was by far my favorite place to guide. What other species besides Eastern Brook trout and Northern Pike?

Jim Burton was doing fly-outs for Char and Atlantic Salmon. This is the last summer I believe he is flying for the lodge but they can confirm that. Thanks for your feedback.

A long way from the European nymphing I do in small streams here in the U.K! Those fish are titans. Great stuff.

Running gas engines will ruin that lake. For example, see BC.

What lakes have been ruined by using gas motors in BC?

Never heard of this before, please explain?

@@newflyfisher The oil leakage from outboard motors kills off the key aquatic insects, thus devastating the trout. It has happened all over BC. Roche Lake is BC lost its Travelling Sedge hatch from outboards. Many BC lakes are now electric only.
