When I was down at the Smoky Mountains, I stopped at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works and bought the shirt. The place is huge. If you are ever down that way stop in, also Bud's Guns is across the street.
I wish I,could have stayed longer but the wife and kids didn't want to come in so I had like 30 minutes before I was in trouble lol. That's why I just grabbed the shirt. If I had more time I would of left with one or two knives. I was eyeing up the Victorinox One hand Trekker.
But at least you got a great souvenir! I get their catalogs and drool over some of the stuff in it. They get some nice special edition knives made just for them, witch is pretty cool. The One Hand Trekker is a nice knife too.
I collect case knives and have some trappers. My favorite is the large trapper with rough black handle. This knife is measurably heavier with thicker blades than the others I have. Good video.
I have a deep love for traditional knives.I very much enjoyed your video! I have a few trappers in my collection. My favorite is the slim line trapper and the mini trapper is nice. I find the full size trapper to be a bit heavy in the pocket. I have an interesting one from Rough Rider, the improved muskrat. It has a clip blade and a sheepsfoot blade in yellow composition handles.
Very glad you liked it Jim! Your Rough Rider Improved Muskrat is a better example of the Double End Trapper design than my Muskrat in the video. I have a belt sheath for my Case trapper that I completely forgot to show in the video that makes the full size much more enjoyable to carry. Always love to hear that someone else likes these old style knives as much as I do! Take care!
I have two knives that look exactly like trappers, but instead of a spey blade, they have a saw that locks on opening. Do you know them? If so, why do they chose to have the lock in the saw instead of in the cutting blade were it would be more useful?
This Knifes are Hunting Knifes, The Saw are Bonesaws. Look at the Brand "Hartkopf Solingen" or look "Hunting Pocket Knife" and you will find the Pattern 😊
I have a Case Trapper that has Wharnclip Blade ..it has a Calfornia Clip blade and a Wharnclip blade .. Very Rare ...I got lucky on finding this Case Knive ...Case didn't make very many of them...
Say Heah Jeremy, Yes I did learn more. Thanx You. Yeah, I have a Case Test Jumbo Trapper, The second blade is more of a trailing tip instead of a spey blade and it wasn't made by Case but for Case. The markings like the double X's look almost generic and thin but their on the main blade. I would have to L@@K again for who made it. I thing Green is in their name. It is a nice knife and size especially for the Bush. Although I carried it in the bush, something told me not to use it so I have a horizontal pouch or sheath for it. It is a nice knife. Then I have a 3 blade Stockman that was made in Shefield England by Wilkerson Sword, It's a Beauty you could see the quality that its made in, but I can't find any info on it even info on Wilkerson Sword making knives. Then I have this very tiny knife, it too is a nice quality, It's just a cute knife so I hang on to it. Anyhow Thanx You for a lesson in Trapper Knives, patterns etc. I enjoyed it. Thanx You.,,. p
The cv takes and holds an edge better than the ss, forms a very nice patina and the amber bone for me is a love affair! Every time I buy a case knife I want to get some other handle, but i always revert back to ole' faithful.
If I have a choice I always go for the cv steel. After it gets that patina it gives the knife a whole new character that looks really nice. I think I have a stockman in that amber bone and your right it is really great.
I'm wearing a Case t-shirt and watching your video. Life is good.
Nice! I don't have a Case t-shirt yet , but I know the feeling! Enjoy my friend!

When I was growing up my father always carried a K-Bar stockman . Me being a rebellious young man had to carry a trapper .
You don't know what you were missing with not having a sheep's foot blade
@@desertratedc9596 it's the ultimate utility blade plus it's do easy to bring to a razors edge. That's always the fine work blade on my stockman.

I've seen them. Saws sometimes cut on the push stroke and tend to want to close up. Maybe why the lock. Cool knives.

When’s your next video?
The case amber bone cv trapper
That's a nice one! Love that CV steel!
