Nick D'Virgilio - "The Florentine" (Big Big Train Performance)

- Greetings everyone!
Here's another one of my performance pieces captured during my time at Drum Channel, playing the song "The Florentine" from my band Big Big Train. This track comes from our record "The Grand Tour". It is a really fun song to play drums on and I get to sing a great harmony lead vocal with David Longdon. This performance was made before David's passing. Hearing and watching this video brings back so many wonderful memories of David and how great it was be in #BigBigTrain with him.

As a fan I'm excited to expose BBT to a young friend who has taken up learning the guitar, I always have him listen to all kinds of music to be inspired, I said " here, check out this music journey". And as I sit here watching this I got thru to the instrumental section then I break down on tears of sadness and joy. Grief that I miss David but happiness with the opportunity to share such an emotional flowing piece of music..

I remember having to sing and play "Dance on A Volcano" one night in high school when our keyboard player's voice was out. So I have a healthy respect for playing drums and singing in odd times! You made this look like a breeze....!

Sooo cool! Got to see Nick in Spock’s Beard back in 2000 at the House of Blues in Hollywood Ca when they opened for Dream Theaters Scenes of a memory tour. Musicianship/ drumming was amazing!!

Love that song! Can you do a breakdown of the fills specially the ones around 5:10
That's tough in the comments but it is single strokes in the hands and dbl's in the feet (I was using a dbl pedal) and the counts are 6, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6. The 6's areRLRLFF and the 4's are RLFF. Hope that helps. Cheers!
