Back when I played Incineroar, I understood this pretty well and decided to not take him to tournaments. I instead had other characters that I succeeded less with, but still had fun as well. And for two, deserved because he didn’t up tilt.
What's funny is that while Marth is the worst character, he's way more positively popular. You face Marth's sour spot so much that when you fight a Lucina and get faired offstage at 60% you didn't even realize you were at kill %.
Still a legitmate question however, seeing that melee is much more complex anyhow. Doesn't help that Ultimate feels bare-bones compared to the rest of the series anyhow.

These people are mistreating their possessions by applying excessive force but since they are inanimate objects, it cannot really be constituted as violence. It's an immature overreaction on the part of these players for sure, but it's not one that actively harms another living being.

Out of all of the clips in this video, the Duck Hunt complaining about losing to Richter is the one that makes me laugh the most. If melee was never a thing, but instead released today with modern day patches/polishing, it would arguably be the most popular fighting game... But because it's 19 years old it's kind of unfair to flag it for broken mechanics and balance issues. In my opinion, the two should never be compared, and I think both are great in their own ways. But it just isn't fair to rip on an almost 2 decade old game for issues that can't be fixed officially. And as for balancing, it's really only evident competitively
Mors Principium Est if melee was released today would it still have techniques like wave dashing? Nintendo would have patched it and called it a bug, with no one batting an eye. Sure it would still be incredibly popular but it would also end up in the same position as ultimate.
