Loved the vid - was a seasoned front cabin traveler in my jetset days (then employer permitted comfy seats on longer flights). Nowadays whenever possible, I'll pay to upgrade the week before departure - makes all the difference between dreading a long-haul vs looking forward to it. My biggest travel tip's to always pack your sense of humour - and know that if you're upset at a situation, so is everyone around you... especially airport/airline staff who often love their jobs, but share your passion to get home!
Did have the pleasure of flying Concorde, shortly before her retirement... London to NYC in 3 hrs, 17 minutes! Amazing experience - ground priority so didn't stop between gate and runway, no turbulence as cruise altitude's well above the weather, curvature of earth visible - service and food exquisite! This pre-dated even cameras on flip-phones and you'd to ask for permission to use a camera in flight - which was quietly granted. Forever among my fondest travel memories - heartbroken that chapter has now closed!

For us the perks in 1st class vs Coach are the difference between arriving calm or irritable. Thank you for these tips. We don’t fly often but knowing what to expect is good and I’ve found once you experience it there’s no going back.

I fly first. I fly business and I fly economy. It depends on the length of the journey and times between stop overs. A single 24 hour journey - First. Two 12 hour journeys with a day or two between legs, I can manage economy for both. 3 to 4 hours - Always economy. I accept what I am going to get. I'm not so pretentious to expect more service than what I've paid for. I take my own personal flight comfort kit. I don't mind walking around the terminal while waiting. I don't mind waiting in the lounge. The people who are the problem are those who won't pay the extra but expect the extra. When they are offered something, they want it all.

Sorry to say I can not do that
If I want to fly from FRA to LAX in first class than I have to pay 9294 Euro's return trip if I go with my family than I pay 27882 Euro's for 3 persons that about 7000 Euro's less than my bruto yearly income😮
C class is less expensive but will be between 15000 and 17000 Euro's for 3 passengers.
So I have to stay in Y class.

@daylightdaylight6612 Everyone's situation is different. I hope one day you and your family can travel first class together, though Los Angeles isn't a destination I find desirable. Enjoy every experience you have with the people you love. I have no family. I am unmarried. It can be lonely. I would still enjoy a seaside trip for a picnic I made at home if that's all I could afford if I had kids.

First class on an US airline is the same as a bad business class on an EU airline. Main cabin on a US airline is like flying on an EU low cost airline. The days of "service", like the fantastic service given by Pan Am are over😮

Fun video! We don’t generally fly business domestically - for us, not usually worth the extra money for a flight < 5 hours. But - there is a huge difference with international business class. As I get older, the jet lag and very long flights bother me more. Having a lie flat seat can make all the difference on a long-haul flight. I would recommend carefully researching different airline options as the quality of the business class varies widely. Our favorite is Turkish Airlines. The seats are comfortable and the food is amazing. And, the business class lounge in Istanbul is the best we’ve seen.

For domestic flights less than 5 hours I do JetBlue “Even More Space”. Doesn’t break the bank. Anything over that or international it’s gotta be business lie flat, or United Polaris or JetBlue Mint. And of course international airlines are best. I love Singapore Business class.

Hi Ray - changes depend on the airline, and whether it's international or domestic. But regardless of the airline - you WILL love using the biz/1st class queue for baggage check & security ;-)
Since your flight is domestic (Hawaii!!) the 1st class cabin seats won't be the same as international, but they'll still be much roomier than coach, fewer passengers, and a calmer experience. You'll have fun ;-)

Nice video, love your energy. Hopefully Bwi has a dedicated 1st class tsa line. Haven’t found anything online about it. Flying domestic 1st class would be worth it just to get through tsa faster, faster check-in is a plus. Nice bit about the bags banging into people. That is the one thing I hate about being in cattle class. People do not carry their bag in front of them and they always bang into me, very annoying and they do not even apologize. Seems most people do not have situational awareness and don’t realize how their actions affect other people.

Coach will be totally fine. 1st just gets you into a shorter baggage & security line which is nothing more than a nice luxury. However as long as you arrive to the airport in plenty of time, you'll be just fine ;-)

Oh gosh! I'm so excited for you! I've been travelling for more than 20 years, since I was 7 years old(First country I've ever visited was Singapore with my family), and I can tell you that it will be stressful on certain portions of your whole airport experience, especially airport security. Personally, if I fly less than 3-4 hrs, I really don't need the extra legroom. But if you can afford it, sure, go ahead and upgrade. The flight experience between a domestic flight and international flight is like night and day. Once you fly international, especially flights that are more than 8 hrs long, upgrading to a more comfortable seat is almost essential, if you can afford it, or your situation allows it. upgading to Business class on a domestic flight is basically like a glorified Premium Economy hehe. Also, if you're planning on flying more in the future, I highly recommend to join your airline's membership/rewards program to rack up mileage and get perks in the future. I only recommend this if you'll be flying more than once a year though. But I think many airlines don't have expiration on their points/miles so might as well join their rewards program.
Make sure to wear comfortable clothing, no belts(if you can skip this accessory, I highly recommend to make the security screening faster), and shoes where you can easily take it off and back on. So no shoes that take too much effort to take off and put back on lol. If you're bringing a laptop/tablet, make sure it's separated/out as you're approaching the x ray machines, because going through x-ray, they need those devices to be on the tray, not inside the bag. Makes the process faster when you have it out already.
Once you're in the plane, it can get overwhelming with all the people trying to get seated and situated around you, noisy children, might be some upset and stressed fliers as well. I highly recommend bringing a noise cancelling headphones and just play some of your fav tunes, or some relaxing music. I tend to play some jazz, bossa nova, classical, or some feel good music most of the flight to tune out all the noise and chaos lol You can also bring some lavender oil, or for me, I like to bring a menthol inhaler, to help me relax and calm down. Bring a book/kindle or even some puzzle book, just to help distract you from the stressful environment, and kill time. I mix and match with downloading mobile games on my phone, since I always fly longhaul international flights. My last flight was SFO to Manila, and you really need a lot of distractions for such a long flight.
Anywho, I apologise if this got too lengthy. I wish you a safe trip, and hope you have a wonderful time wherever your destination is!

Yes! International to London. Would not recommend, as the layout for the particular plane dedicated to that flight was NOT a 1st class experience.
We should have checked first. 3 sections of seats, middle section had 4-6 seats side by side (can’t recall exact number), so you’re sleeping next to some guy you don’t know, seats DID lay flat but thinly padded, somewhat narrow. Fine for me, at 5’2 - my 6’2 broad shoulder husband was miserable. 😖

Great video. What is your recommendation if you have paid to fly in business class but the airline causes you to miss your connecting flight bc of delay at airport. How do you get onto the same or similar flight? We missed our connection from Germany to LAX in Business Class because there was a disruption with the airlines computer system in Spain. As a result, the only flight we had in true Business Class was from then leaving Germany to Toronto at a much later time and not on the same type of plane?. After that the flight was all downhill from there. By the time we arrived in LAX it was after midnight and ended up staying at an airport hotel nearby. Big mistake bc the next day we were not allowed into the lounge? It was a horrible experience. Unfortunately, we don't travel very much and were left very unhappy with our return trip that we paid lots of money for. Thanks for any advice.

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential
      @AnnieParkerConfidential  ปีที่แล้ว +5

Omg - I’m SO sorry. How infuriating. Airlines like to make it a pain in the *?! to receive a refund for the difference. You’ll have to actually call the airline, and request a credit to your original payment method, for the difference of a coach & biz class ticket at the time of your flight (prices fluctuate).
Have a number in mind before you call. My personal advice is to give that a try, and hopefully they will do the right thing for you. If they give you the run around, contest the entire flight charge with your credit card company. You’ll be able to say that you’ve attempted to resolve the issue w the airline, but are unable to get anywhere.
Let the airline deal with it.
We always use AmEx & they’re great. The MAIN POINT you’ll want to reiterate is this: the Agreement between you & the airline was a biz class ticket in exchange for “x” dollars. You fulfilled your part, the airline breached theirs. Keep it simple. I hope that helps 💕

First, I enjoyed the video. Very nicely put together, so kudos on that!!
My question/comment is about domestic first, aka business.
In the video you stated there is lounge access. I've flown on the big 3 pre-911, pre-covid, during and now. Never has there been a time where I had free access to the lounge. If I wanted it I had to purchase it. I don't use credit cards - none. Zilch. No need for them.
Can you please help me understand how you get lounge access?
This is not a trolling question. It's honest. We have an upcoming trip in April (MSP-LGA) on AA on an E-175 which is actually my favorite. We sit 1st row all the time (we book well in advance) for the way awesome leg room. The 19.9 seat is well more than we need, and it's just an overall comfy seat. Don't like the 737-800 even with the 20.5 seat. It's just meh. 319 & 320 are our standby if no 175.
I still feel like I'm missing out on something. Any advice?

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential
      @AnnieParkerConfidential  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Rick! This is a great question because the whole Lounge Access (LA) has become a crapshoot. There is no airline with a Lounge at EVERY airport - so, you have to 'dig' prior to your trip to see Lounge options at airports along your route. That being said, it looks like you will NOT have LA at MSP or LGA unfortunately.
AA DOES have a lounge at LGA, but you'll notice there's an asterisk labeled *for qualifying flights. 'Qualifying flights' are then itemized according to International, Trancontinental & Domestic 1st/biz class ticket holders, with a list of those airports which allow you access (without an Admirals Club membership).
For your scenario, (LA) is only for the following cities:
Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Honolulu (HNL)
      DFW and Kona (KOA)
      DFW and Maui (OGG)
      Chicago (ORD) and HNL
Here's the link, if you'd like to take a look: www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/airportAmenities/lga-club.jsp
I know it's SUPER annoying. For whatever reason, airlines make it so ludicrously difficult to get into a Lounge that passengers end up feeling irritated more than anything. It used to be that a 1st/biz ticket gave LA, period. Then it was a Biz/1st with a platinum AmEx. Now it's generally "for qualifying flights" with random, subjective qualifications.
I see that you don't use credit cards (we usually book via AmEx Platinum Travel, and therefore have the agent do the work of determining LA along our route) - so you may want to consider which airlines along your route, would allow you LA. Then book w/that particular line - if LA is more important than traveling your favorite airline ;-)
I hope this helps - and thanks for the question! - Shelli

      @@AnnieParkerConfidential

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential

Exactly. The flight attendants leave open, the curtain separating the 1st & coach cablns - which then feels like one big cabin. They then allow coach to freely bombard through 1st for restroom use, as they wish.
So essentially it’s a constant, high traffic situation. Bumping into your seat, hanging out in the aisle to wait for the restroom. One of the many reasons we avoid American Airlines if at all possible 🥹

Very informative video. My husband and I are planning a trip to Maui in November. He has never flown with me (he is a little afraid of flying) and we have been married for over 21 years! Neither of us have flown first class but would really love to try it. We keep going back and forth between Premium economy and first class. There are just so many options with airlines and differences in the amenities, it is hard to make a decision. He is really wanting to fly with an airline that has the in seat entertainment and I am more concerned with the comfort of the long flight (would really love the lie flat seats) but I am curious of the recliner seats. How far back do they go back? Could you sleep comfortably in them? Also, is there an airline you could recommend flying to Maui? Thank you for all your insights!

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential
      @AnnieParkerConfidential  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Hi Brenda! The lay flat seats, toiletry amenities, fancy food etc are only for international flights (assuming you are in the U.S). Biz class Domestic flights have larger, roomier seats that of course recline - but only 45-degrees (estimate).
In-flight entertainment depends on the plane model the airline designates for your particular flight. So I’d recommend choosing your flight, but before booking - identify the plane model (it’s always provided during the booking process).
Then, copy/paste it into google with “business class in-flight entertainment on a Boeing 737” (example).
We haven’t been to Hawaii in a long time, but we flew Hawaiian last time, and it was fine (I’m in San Diego, so it’s “only” 5hrs).
Your husband may “win” on this one, as all domestic biz class seats are recline - not lay flat, while NOT all have back-of-seat entertainment screens. For those that DON’T, you are able to connect to their wi-fi and stream on your own device.
Personally I think that’s lame, but that’s the deal. Also, 1st/biz allows you to access designated baggage check, and security lines - which is really nice. Less hassle, rarely that long of a wait.
Also, no worries about overhead luggage space. You’re 1st to board, 1st to deplane, “first “ to get your luggage (they put 1st class luggage out before the main cabin).
“Worth it” is a subjective term, but IMO - it’s a no brainer. I hope this helps? Either way, you will enjoy your well deserved vacation, I’m sure 😊🤗🌸

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential

Honestly, I’d rate most all US airlines a 4-5 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being excellent). Their idea of biz - 1st class is basically offering a bigger seat.
Other than that, they allow coach to use biz class restrooms, leave open the partition between the cabins, have replaced warm nuts with pre-packaged processed snacks.
I’d say definitely steer clear of @alaskaairlines (they’ve started changing flight DATES on ticketed passengers, when it suits them ).

    • @AnnieParkerConfidential
      @AnnieParkerConfidential  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Miroslava - you're such a good daughter! ;-). United and Lufthansa airlines are the 2 major lines flying from CR into the US. The price will depend heavily on the dates. In order to see your options for all the airlines available, and the flight path - I'd do this:
      1. Go to one of the main online booking companies (like Priceline or Kayak), and input the dates of travel. You WON'T BOOK through them - you just want to see your Airline options. This saves you from having to go to each airline individually - to see if they service your flight path. (see why you don't want to book through a discount site below)......
      2. It looks like Lufthansa and United fly Czech to FL. (I just looked quickly)
      3. Next, go directly to the Lufthansa site, then to the United Airlines site, to enter your travel dates and check availability & pricing. (you'll want to book DIRECTLY with your airline of choice).
      4. Be sure to select "Business Class" for accurate pricing. Sites always default to Economy, so just be aware of that.
      5. NEXT - before booking, look to see the PLANE MODEL designated for that specific flight. Airlines have new planes, and older planes - so we always, always check that the plane is a newer model because they're most always nicer ;-)
      6. It'll give the Plane Model #, and I just google it to see real reviews and pictures ;-)
***I'd highly recommend NOT booking through discount sites. Why? Because if you encounter ANY issues along the way, such as flight cancellations, changes to the itinerary - it is a PAIN IN THE ASS to get help. Many of these sites charge Fess ON TOP OF the fees charged by the airline for changes.
*Also, during the pandemic many of these discount sites would NOT refund customers money, even though they are required to do so.
*Many customers are kept on hold for hours, only to be told "call the airline directly." When they called the airline directly - they're told "this is a 3rd party booking - you need to call Priceline (or whomever) directly.
In short - it may SEEM like a good deal, but it comes at a price. It's WAY easier to book with the airline directly.
Finally, many international flights offer 1st and Business Class. There is a difference - First Class has fewer passengers to Flight Attendant, fewer seats, and a nicer menu. However - it's much pricier than Business, and honestly Business Class is very nice, AND you still get the same perks of dedicated security line, lounge access, dedicated check in line, bigger seats, nice menu etc.
I hope this was helpful ;-)

Hi there - thank you for the question. To determine whether or not you like the layout of the AA plane - check the specific plane model that they are designating for any given flight that you are considering. Every airline has a variety of older and newer planes, so it really just depends which one is designated for a particular flight.
In terms of deals, I've found that airlines tend to jack up the ticket price every time you go back to the site to re-check pricing (which is super annoying). To circumvent this - open a private browser. If the system thinks you're a first time visitor - the price is better than if you're rechecking the flight price again. More than one way to skin a cat ;-)

The request would now involve all of the other FA’s who would have to get involved in order to accommodate. Chances are high that they’d say “sorry, not sorry” 😉
If it were me, and it was an atrocious previous experience - I’d ignore it. The less energy you put into it (and maybe even be friendly towards her) the better for you. She may have been having a horrible horrible day.
If it was SUPER bad, I’d get her name, note the flight number, etc and file a complaint. Also remember that some passengers can be super obnoxious, so perhaps she had a bad experience right before you and was “on guard.” 😉💕
