I have an outdoor kitchen...I had ants get on my stove... I used this method and no more ants.. I put the jug on top of the stove in the back where they were coming in...
    Viola! No more ants...
In stead of leaving the jugs lying around I decided to hand them in plastic grocery bags in each area of my garden ... I rarely see any anymore....but when I do see new ones I make a new solution and put it out..
This is such a great idea.. thanks so much for sharing it with us..

This is a brilliant idea and I have pets so this helps a lot. I tried it in 3 of my gardens and within hours the ants were feeding. I also attracted some troublesome beetles. It’s a great method to keep ants eating but not your plants. My basil and sunflowers are saved!😊🌻🌱

I use oatmeal, I put it in the food processor to make it small, but not dust and the ants love it, you can see that they start to pick it up immediately, but to be sure, I do detective and look for the nest and put there also. What happens is that they eat it and they do not know what fiber is, it expands in their stomach and they die.

@@ebonyperkins4129 Borax is the best - they carry it to their nest and the entire colony dies. Unfortunately our government in Canada decided 2 years ago that Borax may be harmful to Canadians and pulled all Borax products off the shelves.

@@ebonyperkins4129 That sort of thing will work. I do a little different to that. Instead of Borax, I use baking powder, add some sugar for the sweetness, then make a paste with warm water to a paste. Great. I did something similar in a small bowl on my deck. They just wouldn't stop. It really helped. But I like the bottle idea much better. Some ant got on my last year and thought I was dinner. In about a minute, my one are had whelps all over it. In about 2 minutes it was burning. I was under attack. Never dealt with that here in 30 yrs. Ran in, rinsed my arm off and rubbed wintergreen alcohol on it. I felt so much better. When I came in for good I put some Melaleuca cream on my arm and never saw another whelp the next morning.
Using a similar mixture to this one, I stopped seeing them in the house as much. They were starting to take over. Store products didn't last long, may even seemed to just feed them. I was getting worried. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Believe it or not, Borax is not deadly for humans. You can take an eighth of a teaspoon a day, dissolved in water as supplement. Then the boron becomes the beneficial form for us when it hits our stomach, when property dissolved in water, and not in large quantities of course; enough is enough, and more is NOT better. Yes, that’s good old-fashioned laundry Borax, it contains some trace minerals we need. Just know that it’s not going to hurt you if used the same funnel for cooking or if you ingested some. It could irritate your throat if you tried to consume it dry, or took too much, but in a glass of water, 1/8 tsp., not tablespoon, is just fine. I find hot water works best. And yep, I’m alive still, though I haven’t used it as consistently as other people do.
People get confused by this, saying, “omg, it’s ant poison!,” but it may shock them to learn that we actually have a different physiology than ants (not to mention we are so, so, so much bigger than they are!)... and any other species, too, as they have different physiologies from us. We’re actually not physiologically interchangeable after all. That’s why we have to be careful what we feed our pets, but it also means that everything that poisons them doesn’t necessarily poison us:)

You can also use DE, Diametatious Earth, sugar and water. Works with your system equally well. Thanks for the idea. It probably saved my garden.

How do you use the D.E? Do u just sprinkle it around each plant or do u mix it with something?

I thought DE only worked when dry? So it works also if ants consume it?

Diametatious earth is used to cut the ants when they walk on it its very sharp shards however its not poison.

Thank you so much for this ant trap. I have noticed that I am getting a lot of ants and aphids on some of my beans and leafy green crops. I wanted something that would not harm the beneficial insects in my garden but be effective against those two pests. Hopefully this will do the trick. I believe slugs are getting them at night as well and I plan to use beer traps. Any suggestions for slugs that is organic and less harmful to pollinators?

Victoria have you tried beer in saucers. Works every time. Have never seen dead bees from it. Hope not, I LOVE pollinators and plant flowers just for them.

Hi, I love your tips on how you grow peppers, I used to grow pepper too when I was in my home country, and now I moved to US and want to grow some really hot pepper like Carolina reaper just for fun. But I don't know any good supplier who sells reliable seeds with good germination rate. Can you please tell me how did you get your seeds? Thank you!

The ants we have fly to- from pots. I will try this.
