      I know it’s aggravating..So I just started putting that this item may or may not have minor imperfections due to use that can only be seen under close inspection & I haven’t had any issues..Because more often than not there will be some kind of flaw!!..But if it’s a major problem I disclose it in the photo and sell it for just enough to recoup my buying price!!

    Lonnie, if shipping is an issue because of packing up very delicate ceramic flowers and branches and such, consider using crafting/pillow stuffing fiber. I recently saw one of my other TH-cam Resellers (flyingpigthrifts) pick up bags of this pillow stuffing at Goodwill for like $.99. She said that she always picks it up when she sees it at thrift stores, garage sales or estate sales because she uses it to pack and ship intricate and very fragile figurines. If you have a figurine that is very valuable, it may also be worth spending a few dollars at either a dollar or craft store to pack it.

    I would love to see a comparison on Ebay and Etsy fees on a higher dollar item. Let's say around $100. I don't think Etsy charges a fee on sales tax, so I bet the difference would be supstaintial

    I sell dvd's and cd's like crazy, but you have to look for out of print and things that never made a transition to the next medium. That being said it's still very easy to make bad buys, but as long as you learn not to buy it again then you get a little value from it. I have quit buying many toys unless I see they have a super good sell through. I'm to stubborn to delist the ones I have listed, but they haunt me each time I see them in my inventory.

    Most old cameras have zero value, most people cannot understand descriptions of vinyl, ie if you say there is some sratches and approx grade = vg with probability of some noise. They literally get it and scream that its sandpaper and not playable (33s around 1985 and older even with physical flaws can still play ok) I've decided To delist 500 records recently, sick of dealing with people. That being said I made a couple thousand in profit on records, hard to ignore them. I have about 100 up ATM but any new ones have to be basically excellent or up. Tired of fighting with people over 10 dollar records

    in summer of 1972 Garfunkel and his girlfriend came into the Village Green Restaurant in Cottage Grove, OR, where I was working as a bus girl. I was able to get his autograph back in the kitchen. I don't know if I saved it or not or where in the world it would be if I did after all these years, but it's probably worth a little bit by now.

    I love my glassware (I know, not everyone's cup of tea). But if it has a tiny chip or even a rim nick I won't sell it. I want buyers feedback to say their item was better than expected -as Lonnie says "no after sale problems". Warning, vintage or even antique clear glass is no longer worth the trouble to sell.

    I would suggest an additional exception to your DVD/VCR buys. If it's like $5 or less, and it has the remote, I'd say it's hard to go wrong. Even if it's completely broken and not worth selling for parts, you can just junk the actual unit and the remote will probably sell for $10 - $15 alone.

    man i used to ship large speakers, like I'm talking the dimensions once i double boxed them, just barely made the mark for shipping and not having to go freight. I had a pair a couple years back that took me 4 hours to pack up securely. It was a $1000 sale + ship, but man i swore of selling any that big for a few years, and am still pretty picky, the margins have to be really good. Recently broke that two year mark and listed a pair of speakers last month sold them for $1200, paid $300, and I got lucky, the buyer lived only 40 miles from me and we talked on the phone and he did a local pickup!!!!

    we all having buying regrets I would sell the shoes off in a bulk lot (reseller bundle) and then they would be someone else's headache, and free up space
    I still haven't worked out what will sell quickly (apart from obvious items) I have been doing this for 20 years and I get something that I think will sell straight away sits there for ever, and an item we think is not going to sell for a while sells the next day lols

    I m late to view this one. But it's great info to learn .... even if we don't sell the same things, it's lesson in thinking ahead ,,, seeing before the selling. I will probably not buy new shoes in volume. Too much variation in sizing imho. Also,,, buying a ' lot' of Collectible figurines. 2 or 3 out of 50 may have a great return but sat on the rest.😮

    I grade Vynil only optically and point it out. In addition, always a little worse than it actually is. Relatively easy and quick to do. The condition of Vynil is difficult to see in photos, unless there are really noticeable scratches and damage. Vynil collectors are more likely to be deterred from buying and buyers are more likely to be surprised by the condition if it is better. Real collectors buy from dealers who also grade the sound, at least I suspect.

    We won't buy Disney figurines of any type without the box (unless the price point is right). I mean, I "can" pack them safely, but that's like, way too long of a stupidly delicate pack. Department 56 and Lemax fall into the same boat.
    Big size and low return items are falling off. We'll even flip furniture (and even ship), but not if the price isn't right.

No kidding she came back from a shopping trip showed me 4 cat collar's and a small package of rope. I just thought she wanted them for her 1 cat..she was like does this give you any Ideas ?? No not really Then she started to say meow meow. Finally got it minutes later ...true story.❤

    • @TheOldTapeArchive
      @TheOldTapeArchive 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Promoted listing are a sham. I'm 0 for every item I've used it at the 10% rate. 17% is a joke. I'd just as soon throw the item out than give the $$ to Ebay at this point. Two months and no sales at low prices means there are too many of the item anyhow. Those items now get tossed. It's the only way they'll be worth anything in the future.

    Electronics drive me crazy because they always have their own unique charger, they need to sell quickly or the batteries degrade, I always need to charge the item before sending it out, and before I can even list it, I need to ensure there’s no data or confidential information And test everything. It’s time consuming, and they are items that depreciate while they sit. Occasionally something tests well before I sent it out, in the buyer reports a problem, or asks for technical support.

    Soooo ... I am ok with the new "long" format, but I think (though my channel is dead and I have no authority) you may be able to get more view time, etc. if you "broke" these into shorter segments.
    What I am thinking is that you're doing the editing/uploading/etc. already, but what if you had a pre-recorded insert (to put at the end) that said: "Hey guys, in the interest of time we're cutting this video here. There's plenty more to watch, and if you're enjoying this, click here for part 2" and you just ended with no "resolution" and picked up exactly where you left off?

    • @shedflips
      @shedflips  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think that would kill the whole vibe of what I'm trying to do here, actually pretty happy with both the video making process and the results right now. At some point I will try something else I'm sure. Now what I may do is cut into some of these videos to make some shorts content or something like that.

      @@shedflips - I like the layout of your 'shed' ... we have 3 'semi trailers' - fixing to get a couple more conex containers. Plan to use the conex containers for 'new' inventory & sorting, processing... and the semi containers for the 'listed' with all the shelves and such.

      @@shedflips - not sure what the cost of 'sheds' are there, but here (E. TN) I can get 4 good used 40' conex containers for the cost of one just of the 12x40 sheds, and a 12x60 isn't that much more than the 12x40 (here). Conex containers can be 'moved' FULL... whereas semi trailers can't be moved with anything in them once the axles have been removed. Also, the conex containers can be 'stacked' and joined, and expanded - if you know someone that can weld (and you don't plan on moving them anytime soon). Anyhow... just a thought. Conex containers require little maintenance, and are designed to LAST 30 to 50 years when on rock or slightly off the ground. I've had 2 of my containers for over 25 years. Just a thought...

    • @foghornleg90
      @foghornleg90 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shedflips - I can touch solid good to great used conex containers for about $3k here in E. TN (should be less for you, so close to the ports)... a 'one trip' (looks new) is about $4500 (here). Whereas, the 12x40 wooden sheds START at about $12k 'delivered' - and can't be moved unless they are 100% emptied. Just a thought, IF you ever consider moving. If our property was laid out differently, I'd do two conex'es on each side, one 'across the back' - and put a domed roof over BETWEEN THEM. Neighbor has that type of set up for his hay & equipment, it's pretty sweet. LOTS of space, and an instant 'warehouse'... but I'd probably put the 'roof' to the OUTSIDE of the conex's - rather than the inside. A bit less 'easily accessible' space, but protects the roofs MORE, and turns the roofs into some additional 'under cover' storage potential.
      I'm old - figure I *should* (maybe, hopefully) have ONE move left. The only question is WHERE to, at what cost, and how is ALL THE STUFF we have going to get moved too. LOL Conex containers of 'packed inventory' CAN BE MOVED filled, so it's actually a double win (for us), IF we eventually find a place we believe will be better than what we have now. Anyhow... THANK YOU (and your wife) for some great videos. MUCH appreciated! My wife & I have learned a couple things from y'all.

    Whenever I sell an electronic item with issues I’ll message the buyer and get a verbal confirmation that they are aware of the issue as described in the listing. I had several folks purchase an item and then claim they didn’t know about an issue even though it was described. They returned it claiming “not as described” which as you know means I paid for shipping both ways. This very quickly becomes cost prohibitive as you also know. It takes a little time but since I’ve been doing it I’ve had no issues. Just a thought.

    • @tonya4689
      @tonya4689 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is worth mentioning to the buyer. However, when they don't respond, you should still ship. If they make an issue of it, you point them to the item description and if they still want you to pay return shipping, let eBay intervene. It is not your fault that they didn't read the details.
