Holy poop..... BLACK PANTHER WAS AMAZING. I loved EVERY part of this movie and I think I can safely say THIS was my favorite Marvel movie. The music was fire, the visuals and cinematography were stunning, writing and dialogue wonderful.... not to mention the outfits WERE SOOOOO GOOD AND I LOVED THE CHARACTERS UGH. I have nothing but great things to say about Black Panther and need more. I can't believe all that Chadwick Boseman had gone through and still managed to play such a great role. Truly a wonderful actor and human as I've heard, rest peacefully. Thank you for all of the joy you've given us

it's sad to know that while he was filming this movie (and the others in the MCU) he was battling cancer.
I think it’s more inspiring than anything. He didn’t let his illness define him.
According to Philip Defranco last week, there was a test run for an anal cancer tumor for about 14 or 17 people and had a 100% success rate. To think it could lead to a cure for other types that could have saved him and many others (my dad included) would be tremendous.

Chadwick Boseman really nailed character. Regal, compassionate... We lost him way too soon. The legend we could have gotten, if Heath Ledger and Chadwick Boseman would have been on screen at same time...
This is such an amazing film. I love that they had the hero learn from the villain, end up agreeing with him, and honoring his pain by working to make it right - in the right way, not a way that increases violence and death, which was really the only thing the villain was wrong about. I loved how complex the characters and their archs were. I loved that we got to see the hero's side kicks disagree on an issue, but still respect each other - and fight together when they ended up on the same side of the issue again.
This movie also has probably the best costume design in the entire MCU.
Chawick Boseman is an absolute legend . Man he was literally fighting for his life filming this movie but kept a happy smile . This movie hits different now . This one is like my favourite yet emotional movie of all time and of Marvel with doctor strange . Absolutely loved your reaction . It's no surprise to see this becoming your favourite movie so far 😍.

@CYB3R2K30 It’s not a bad movie, every people that think this movie is bad is because it has black people and some jokes that white people can’t take. (I ain’t black, I am from Puerto Rico so I am Hispanic so I ain’t bias by the culture or anything). This movie has good acted scenes, the cinematography, scenery and visuals are beautiful, the score is one of the best in the MCU, it has one of the best villains in the MCU, and the storytelling and writing is good, not perfect but good. The CGI at the end is not good but that doesn’t take away from all the good I mentioned before. Black Panther is a 7.5/10 movie.

No way should this movie have been nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards the Dark Knight or Logan were much better movies and should have been the first superhero movies nominated for Best Picture but political correctness rules at the Oscars.

John Kani, the actor who portrayed T'Chaka, taught Chadwick some X'hosa which is what the Wakandans speak. John's real-life son Atandwa got to portray T'Chaka in the 92 flashback.
Chadwick isn't the only one we should be remembering. Dorothy Steel, the actress who portrayed the Merchant Tribe elder, has also passed away.

But yeah, I think of all the MCU villains, Killmonger was the one with the most relatable goal. He went about it the wrong way, but you understood that it wasn't really a bad goal to want to share the knowledge and technology with others so that people like him all over didn't have to live shitty lives. (ie: systemic racism)
One thing that's really fun about this is how they have Andy Serkis as Klaue and Martin Freeman as Ross facing off in a couple scenes. They of course also played Gollum and Bilbo in the Hobbit movies. When this movie came out, people joked that they were the "Tolkien White Guys" of the film.

The music for this movie is really good because the composer was college friends with the director, as soon as the director got the job he called his buddy and said I need you to go to Africa. The composer spent months learning about traditional instruments, how to play them, and traditional vocalizations then he mixed them with modern hip-hop to make the soundtrack.
‘Wakanda’ combines traditional African singing with a western brass fanfare, like the arrival of a king and ‘Killmonger’ combines traditional African instruments with Hiphop elements symbolising that he is a man of both cultures - a nice detail, I think
I saw this in theaters without seeing any Marvel films that had introduced Tchalla or Wakanda, so it was my first introduction. And I LOVED it. It was yet another MCU film that was made stronger by standing on its own and telling its own story without a ton of outside references. I just got to enjoy these characters and this world and not worry about anything else in the MCU.
I just love it so much when I watch other people like yourself enjoying and loving a movie with all of their heart and passion. It makes me feel warm inside, and lord knows I need that feeling. Wonderful reaction Vicky to a wonderful movie! One of my favorites as well!
So happy you enjoyed VKunia, it came out really late in the game but still managed to be a Marvel classic, and of the most well written movies Marvel has ever put out. I'm really glad you appreciated that element of it too!❤
As a young Black woman, the way this move portrays Africa fills my heart with joy. Most movies will show Africa as a poor, poverty-stricken barren wasteland of a continent, but a lot of Africa is quite the opposite. Rich with gold, and very self-sustaining. This movie helps break the stigma of Africa being a continent that is in desperate need of saving.
And so rich with culture and history too.

I didn't get a chance to see this in the theaters because I was deployed back in February of 2018, and the day I watched it on Amazon on August 29th of 2020, was the day the news announced Chadwick's passing. I was so in shock I could hardly focus on the movie.
Whatever it is that you are doing, keep doing it. Its nice to see you happier in this video than you have been.
I feel happy that I was one of the lucky few people to have watched this movie in the theaters.

Yes, but he is such an amazing, over the top, charming psycho that I just can't ever get enough of him...
One of the few MCU villains who openly enjoys being a villain. He’s laughing, making jokes, he’s having a good time! I think it’s just him and Green Goblin. Everyone else has this kind of tortured aspect where they feel they have to do what they think is right.
Andy Serkis really does make a great villain. It’s hard to picture him as Gollum from the Lord of the Rings or as Caeser from Planet of the Apes when you see him in this. It just goes to demonstrate the range the man has.
Andy Serkis, who I firmly believe is one of the greatest actors of our time and is hugely responsible for how movies are even made these days. His mo-cap work with Gollum was groundbreaking.
seeing you react to this is what i wish i could go back to. i remember seeing it for the first time at a screening for it and from there it was history. i legit watched it 22 times in theater before the whole moviepass/a-list thing. i was h o o k e d. RIP to Chadwick who did a fantastic job with this role! I am excited to see where the sequel takes us.
Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis were known as the “Tolkien white guys” on this film (since they were both also in Hobbit/LOTR).

Vee, there's a whole literary genre based on this kind of stories called Afrofuturism. It is amazing.
Killmonger was one of the best written villains but he was truly a monster. It was so sad to see when the film came out people putting up hashtag kill monger did nothing wrong he did everything wrong. He didn't care about race or justice (What he used as an excuse), he was truly out for his own revenge. He took advantage of everyone and everything around him, he took his anger over his father's death out everyone. Killed god knows how many people and would've killed even more people just look what he done to his girl, he discarded her like she was trash and never thought twice about it. He blamed everyone even those that had nothing to do with his fathers death like T'Challa. Okya was so right "Your heart is soooooo full of hate !". Even his now dad said that he may be lost and doing things the wrong way. The way he treated people and spat on tradition. He didn't care about anyone he only wanted to unleash his anger onto everybody. T'Challa grew so much and even shouted at the ancestors about their short comings how they abandoned not only their own people but the rest of the world when they could've intervened to help. T'Challa learned from Killmonger and decided he was going to do what he could so this would not happened to another child, so no one would have to grow up with hated in their heart.
There is a proverb that does explain Killmonger well: The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.
Killmonger was willing to destroy everything because he had lost everything. Even his father tried to pull him back from the brink but couldn't. His speech about his father telling him about Wakanda...I wept because you could see the child in him that was in such pain.
I had to laugh at Shuri's comment about "another broken white boy to fix"......she was referring to Bucky.

There are several things in this movie to me that make this ... great. The character of the Black Panther is different from the other Marvel heroes. Black Panther is NOT someone who takes revenge .... he is instead someone who rises above ... a hero indeed. I think that is why a lot of people like this movie ...and Chadwick Bosman. I am one of them.
Another is the villain who, while a bad person who does very bad things ... also has reasons that are arguably valid. Vkunia noticed that too. Good on you @Vkunia. Erik's line at the end, "... they knew death was better than bondage. " strikes deep.
Besides Chadwick Boseman, my favorite character in this movie is Okoye - Strong. Loyal. And just all around badass. She reminds me of the Black Widow character.

This is a special movie because it's one of the few of this kind where the hero learns something from the villain. Killmonger is warped by his anger, but it's also righteous at the same time. That's good writing.
Except T'Challa was willing to listen before the challenge for the throne was made so Killmonger's not really righteous.
And arguably it's not that rare that the movie's hero learns something from the villain, it's just usually more a "I see now I was basically turning into this guy" or "I trusted X but the villain showed me how naive I was."
This is a case of "Their methods were bad but I will see that some good will come of it", e.g. SPOILERS for the ending:

This movie is unique in so many ways, and awesome in all of them. I never "rank" movies because they have so many bits that come together it it hard to equate 2 tapestries if intermingled parts. I will say this one of the movies I will always re-watch and enjoy though.
Loved the reaction, as usual, I always love to see movies anew through your eyes. Though this film I'm pretty sure I'd love to see through any set of eyes, to keep it fresh.
If you didn't know, the actor that plays Ulysses Klaw is the same guy that played Golem/Smeagol in the lord of the rings movies.

I didn't know the "What are those!" meme before seeing this, so I laughed at that when I saw it in the theater.
Now, I have trouble watching this because Kilmonger reminds me too much of recent world events. I still think it's a great movie, but parts of it just make me too tense, and I watch these movies to relax.
Killmonger is best villain. Best reason, most dimensions, most handsome, most relatable, best villain music
When I saw Wakanda for the first time, I had the same look of awe. It made me think, "What if the African continent had a valuable resource like vibranium and had been allowed to flourish without exploitation and colonization? It is a beautiful alternate world and one that I would hold close to my heart, which would fill me with pride. It is the reason many people, after seeing this film, adopted "Wakanda Forever" and the arms cross as a greeting. Sadly, many AA do not know their ancestry due to enslavement. But every one can dream that Wakanda is their original home.

vkunia the line where killmonger says " just bury me in the ocean like my ancestors who jumped from the ships because they knew death was better than bondage" actually did happened at the start of slavery and a lot of the black people who died due to slavery died from jumping from the slave's ships into the ocean rather than be a slave
well i mean that has been common for thousands of years not just black people recently lol

What gets me is how much larger the slave trade has gotten today, yet no one talks about it or ways to suppress it. Only the Western Culture has managed to get rid of slave ownership.

Killmonger is talking about black chattel slaves brought to America during the transatlantic slave trade.
American chattel slavery of Africans is not the same as, say, Roman slavery or colonial indentured servitude.
It was more brutal, justified by a system of racism, and children of slaves were themselves owned by the masters.
Saying "it's been common for thousands of years, not just black people" is comparing apples to oranges and can only serve to deflect from criticism of American chattel slavery.
This whole movie is making a strong point about the African and African American condition in our world today, which is still so dominated by a white-centric, eurocentric, Amerocentric system.
That's why this line is in the film.

Chadwick is such an important part of black history, as was this movie. On one side it's a relief to know, that like Heath Ledger, the perfect moment is a still forever in time where the actors future can't tarnish it, and on another side it's forever a loss that we can't see him thrive in sequels and future. I'm not black myself, but I went to see it live when it came out, and it was full of minorities and afro-descendants of all ethnic backgrounds screaming "wakanda forever" back at the movie. The fervor and thrill was palpable in the air and during the showing I went I will always remember how everyone cheered and clapped and one guy nearly hugged me.
I remember being little and wearing a batman costume to the movies and thinking, "I could be him!". And during black panther I saw so many black or brown children of many different ethnicities wearing a mask or claws and thinking, "This could be me!" and it was so amazing to know that they had representation. Not some character that was changed for representation. Not some side character that needed a whole other character to thrive. A whole movie. A main character. With amazing budget, story, and production.
From a geeky science/history way it was so cool to see how technology and science could have evolved from an African/Wakandan aesthetic if history wasn't so biased.
And honestly, from a moral and just sense, it was soooo satisfying to see just how well the movie did despite many supremacist and racists who wanted it to fail.
Now let's get the sequel rolling and have it be as amazing as it should. Wakanda Forever!
Black Panther is only important if you forgot that Blade (a superior movie) happened 20 years earlier.
Also there was Spawn and Steel… even though they sucked. In fact all Black Panther really did was highlight how Hollywood has gone backwards and there is less representation than there used to be.
@@BasketCase-rr7tx Superior is subjective, and while Blade was important on jump starting the superhero movie era, it was in no way anywhere the same scale.
The budget, production, and investment are nowhere alike. Black Panther made over a billion dollars. Billion. Blade turned $45 million into $200 million. Black Panther turned $200 million into $1.4 billion+. Let alone merch and toys.
Black panther made x10 the money blade did at only x4 the budget. And Blade was a shot in the dark during a time that we had batman and superman for basically geeks and niche audiences. Black Panther was a full on movie made by black employees, production crew and aesthetic during a time where the closest thing we had to representation was The Falcon vs. pretty much every other blonde actor getting 4+ movies.
The representation before was false. It was one black actor in a movie where everyone else including cast and crew where white. With little support or investment into the same communities they were trying to profit off of. Meanwhile Black Panther made it very obvious that it's money, toys, marketing and etc were heavily with the black community in mind.
It's sort of how like Wonder Woman was supposed to be a pro-woman movie except Steve takes half the scenes and a lot of the story.
Blade, Spawn and a few others were exceptions, but for the most part when we had like a Mexican movie or a Chinese movie, it wasn't like Shang Chi where it really focused on the community used. It was usually Jackie Chan or one Asian guy with some hollywood actor attached so that the foreigner was the "outsider" and the western actor could keep laughing at their foreign antics and accent.
Even if you were right, and it was a show of how backwards it went, it was still a big step to invest so heavily in a movie when the "trend" was backwards as you said. So it would still be a landmark movement when Disney went "Nope, let's go here instead".

man i miss chadwick. black panther is one of my favorite marvel films, and one of my favorite films of all time. it was handled so respectfully and the acting and jokes were great, the villain was extremely compelling and easy to sympathize with...gosh almost nothing in the mcu tops this film.
Almost nothing. But the next film, Endgame and I'd say No Way Home probably. Others that are on the level are probably Civil War (which also had a sympathetic antagonist) and Winter Solider :) but it's up there for sure. But i think all those movies have really good villains that you can either sympathize with or love all the same. And a lot of the MCU films don't necessairly follow suit with their antagonists and making them have depth
Unique story in the MCU with great visuals. Interesting how they give us not one but two 'decoy villains' with the Jabari tribe and Klaue to draw attention from the real threat of Killmonger.
I'm a fan of the Black Panther character, and I enjoyed Mr. Boseman's performance (RIP) but that's all I have to say that's nice.
All the stars by Kendrick and SZA that plays in the end credits is one of my favorite songs ever. First time I heard it when the credits rolled was such a euphoric feeling.

Want to cry? Everyone assumes that the father and son in the opening narration is T'Challa and T'Chaka, but it's actually Erik and N'Jobu.
I'm an old fan of the Marvel comic books. When the MCU started, I never dreamed we would reach a point where ordinary people knew who Okoye was and why she's a bad**s. It brings a tear to my eye.
Ramonda is actually the stepmother of T'Challa. His biological mother died in childbirth. Because she is the only mother he ever knew, they have a normal mother-son relationship despite being stepmother and stepson.
So many strong women in this movie. I love that the conflict of this film could have been avoided entirely had T'Challa taken the advice of Nakia.
Ulysses Klaue is willing to harm all of Wakanda just to get vibranium. Thus, he is a metaphor for what European colonialism did to Africa. In case the metaphor isn't obvious enough, in the comic books, he sometimes wears a pith helmet, just like the British used to wear in Africa. If you extreme the metaphor, vibranium is therefore the resources of Africa that European colonialists were after, and Wakanda is therefore a fantasy of what Africa could have been without European colonialism.
The Kimoyo bracelets are basically Wakandan smartphones. Each bead has a different function. At significant life milestones, they will change one of the beads to something with a different function.
Cool story: Stan Lee left the comic book early on during the original run. A new writer stepped in to work with artist Jack Kirby. As a stand-alone movie - this one is the most exceptional movies I've ever seen. The African culture in every detail (music, costumes, architecture) is incredible, and the impact a film like this has on African Americans is priceless. I also love the villain - he is the most understandable because of his trauma and identity. Ryan Coogan did the world and his people proud. Losing Chadwick Boseman still hurts to this day byt he knew the incredible gift this would be for generations to come.
I always thought M'Baku is the most honorable person ever in this movie. He was offered the black panther ,the throne, everything he wanted if he had just stayed quiet about t'chala being there but nope, he doesn't hesitate to give it to the rightful person and save a life.
I honestly don't know if i would have been as good and that's a little worrisome.
Fun fact: Oakland, CA is where the Black Panther political party was founded, just a couple months after the comic premiered. Can't say for certain if that's why the scenes in Killmonger's past were set there, but it ought to be. ;-)
I hope you enjoyed Black Panther, @VKunia ! It's among my favorite movies because of the best characters (T'Challa, Okoye, Shuri, Nakia, Agent Ross, M'Baku, and even Killmonger), the story, the visuals, the beautiful African scenery and clothing styles, etc. Chadwick Boseman truly shined here as the Black Panther, and continued to do so even with his illness hidden from others. And the message behind the movie really resonates with everyone for what it's like to be a black person in this world and how important this movie was in terms of representation.
Why is his favorite, because the actor died? I think so many people say this movie is his favorite just because that 😐, the movie its ok, its no a big deal.

the actress that plays the Black panthers mother is Angela Bassett...she has acted in a lot of good movies like "Whats Love Got To Do With It"(about Tina Turner) and "Waiting to Exhale"...the white hair is also foreshadowing T'Challa's next love and future wife Storm (of the X-men).

Actually Vicky, Killmonger has EVERY right. No "halves" nor "step." "Step" means becoming family by marriage. The King killed his own brother, who was a father. That Means T'Chala and Killmonger are cousins. When T'Chala's father dies anyone of Royal Blood may challenge. and Killmonger - as the son of the king's brother is of Royal Blood, right. I mean the King and HIS brother came From the King before Them.
And also Killmonger was NOT an outsider. His father was a Wakandan spy. The King sent him to America to watch and learn about the world. But he was STILL Wakandan.
Killmongers father was not a wakandan spy. He was a wakandan traitor and a thief.
"Another broken white boy for us to fix" is a Bucky/White Wolf reference that doesn't get nearly enough attention.
My favorite movie too! This is the movie that got me into the Marvel Universe (yes I was late to the game) I had seen Guardians of the Galaxy, but didn't realize there was this whole cinematic universe until my friend whispered to me during Black Panther and said "I saw that flashback scene in another movie..." and I'm like "What, they're all connected?!?!?" (Yeah, again, I was late to the game) But Black Panther blew me away. It has everything! I went to see it while it was in the theater four more times and have lost track of how many times I've seen it since it became available at home.
Chadwick Boseman was AMAZING! He is so missed! R.I.Power!
