This is the full display of the Agusta Westland AW101 (also known as "Merlin") helicopter of the Royal Danish Air Force during the Roskilde Airshow 2017 (19/08)
Hi there, I work for an Australian Video Production company and we are trying to hunt down some footage of this helicopter for a video we are making. Would you be ok with us using this footage?
@@valerianocuomo996 only in your anglophobic eyes, you wouldnt be making them now would you! , considering the first one built was designed and built in britain, you got sold the license as with always with the MOD spunk millions in designing and making a project viable making a prototype then ditching it last minute for home use in home forces as to costly, so next best thing sell the designs to another country for them to build and use for themselves...and recoup some of the cost...have a good day luigi...P.S the clues in the name westland, 🤔
The AW-EH101 is the best helicopter in its class by far. All we need now is a new version to replace the existing ones for when ever they go out of service. Wetlands with it's semirigid rotor system, perfect for any helicopter, prefected by Westlands before the merging with and later the takeover by Augusta, but that's what happens when the UK government was prevented from investing or subsidising a brilliant British helicopter manufacturing company by the EU although Germany and France have gotten and still are, getting away with doing exactly that, and on so many occasions, they've been taken to Court countless times for doing so. Double Standards EU, thank the heavens we've pissed off to do our own things. 🏴🇬🇧
sorry but you don't know much about the history of this project! At the beginning it was decided to have it developed jointly by Augusta and Westland in such a way as to satisfy the needs of the respective air forces, the know-how of each was exploited. despite this the main design part is from Augusta, also sorry but the semi-rigid rotor was not developed or designed by Westland! but it is the fruit of decades of experimentation by many designers or inventors... from Leonardo to Young, passing through de la Cervia to Sikorsky... Each manufacturer then applied his own variant but the basic principle is common to all. .. And in any case the AW101 remains a valid example of how by combining the efforts and knowledge of various manufacturers, Europe can build exceptional machines that have nothing to envy from other manufacturers, indeed they can set a precedent!
same as "in its class" it's also "with its* semi-rigid rotor". And the A in "AW" stands for Agusta*-Westland (one "U" only) the predecessor of the company that's now called Leonardo.
The anti-submarine version has big disc-shaped thing under its nose which contains the sonar and is usually painted grey. This green version does not feature the disc, so it's the air force/army version that's useless against ships or submarines.
@@einundsiebenziger5488 the radar under the dome has nothing to do with SONAR. Its a surface scanning radar. The aircraft does have active dipping SONAR which isnt visible from the exterior.
Most beautiful European-built helicopter there is. The rotor blades with their widened wing tips are particularly cool-looking.
I am very happy we bought these to replace the sea kings for our sar service, wonderfull flying machines

Looks very beautiful strong and useful
Very slick. Not the most visually inspiring of machines, but superbly capable. Are the wiglets for fuel or floatation devices?
Sponsons for undercarriage
i love AW101...wish there's mk5 version with nice armor and fire power on this chopper
If a customer wants it they can have whatever they are willing to pay for 🤷♂️
