Is he really untouchable? I know 200 innings is 200 innings, but apart from that... Logan Gilbert: 2.8 bWAR, 113 ERA+ Nestor Cortes: 2.6 bWAR, 109 ERA+
@@SkolProductions For pitchers, I definitely prefer bWAR. To me, pitcher value comes from preventing runs, not just how well you control the 3 true outcomes. Give me a calculation based off runs allowed over a calculation based off FIP any day of the week.
@@DA-yl8js But if you’re trying to project forward, then FIP is generally the better bet, since there’s so much noise baked into any given year’s ERA. Not sure how much interest the Mariners have in trading a starter, much less Gilbert, who still has 3 seasons of team control, and they don’t have much depth past their top 5. If they do trade a starter, I suspect it’ll be Luis Castillo, and I’m worried that the Mets are going to going to take the bait. Pitching half his games at T-Mobile Park is masking some clear signs of decline under the hood. The entire Mariners staff had significant home/road splits, but Castillo’s were especially notable.
Mountcastle is clearly the expendable one for the orioles with Mayo going to take his spot. 90% likely the trade would be Mountcastle + Beavers or something like that for Castillo. Kjerstad is not getting moved for Castillo. That contract isn't great.
As a Nats fan the most promising Nats development in the past 18 months has been the overalling of the scouting, drafting, and development staff(headed by Brad Ciolek). Last year was the first time in as long as I can remember that a non top 3 pick or 4+ mil Int fa made serious waves. Guys like Mitchell Parker and Jacob young in the majors and Travis Sykora in the minors. Also if you want an indication that Rizzo has taken at least a small step back in his drafting influence, the nats went UNDERSLOT IN THE FIRST ROUND last year. I don’t think Rizzo knew that was something you could do two years ago. Nats are still very far from perfect in that regard but seem to finally be making some positive strides and hopefully that continues.
thanks for answering my question fellas. miller was the other prospect i had in mind that could be moved, but i agree that teel may be the best moved. especially considering tucker got moved without cassie/shaw moving.
The Adolis/Abbott deal makes sense in a vacuum. But because of Adolis’ historic postseason, and being a general fan-favorite, Chris Young knows we can’t trade Adolis or the fans will riot
As an M's fan I would do the Castillo deal. I'd rather do Castillo and a prospect for Mayo or Westberg. Even throw in 5-7 Mil per year to make it happen. Then sign Gleyber Torres for 2nd, and Santana for 1st. Call it a great offseason.
As an orioles fan we’re miles apart on Castillos value. This deal starts with Castillo for Mountcastle. Which his declining numbers, age, and contract, no way does he nets a top 10 prospect in baseball
@@moneyline_0109This. Castillo is clearly in decline, but some of that decline is being masked by his home park. I’m worried the Mets are going to take the bait, though. 😕
There’s no way Teoscar was a “reclamation project.” Guy has been a star for a while. When the Dodgers got him, I thought it put them waaaay over the top.
I definitely don't think the O's would do Westburg. I think they'd way rather do Mayo, Kjerstad, and another piece but they love Westburg. Elias just came out and said teams wanted Westburg and Cowser last year and they wouldn't even entertain it.
@ based off of Hyde’s speech about westburg recently I wouldn’t say that’s true. I agree with u that neither will be traded but I think they absolutely love westy and what he brings to the lineup
Wouldn't do that Gilbert trade with the Orioles. I don't assume we get Roki because people had the same feeling about Mariners and Ohtani. Castillo is the starter that's getting traded for sure
As M fan, I would do Kerby for Westburg, kerstad, and McDermott. I don't think the M do it. Maybe woo. Gilbert is untouchable. Kerbys agent will be problem to extend. I'm also thinking M are getting similar, otherwise Castillo is untouchable.
But I would do Kjerstad and McDermott for Castillo no doubt. I love Kjerstad but there isn't a clear everyday role for him and McDermott is a great arm but I wouldn't mind moving him for someone of Castillo's caliber
@ and then they signed O’Neill who’s gonna play everyday too… kjerstad will get more st bats but I also don’t think they would be afraid to trade him if it meant getting a starter and being able to hold onto basallo and Mayo
Wow another episode with Angels slander. Not surprised. Why even bother mentioning them at all. My God every 29 teams get some type of love but the hating continues. Maybe try something different if you don't want Angels fans mad at you on X. I hope Arrenado goes to the Angels so Jack and Peter have to sadly talk about it.
Jack you're a demon for predicting that Tucker trade. Parades and Smith nailed it, that's incredible. Great takes from you guys
The mariners hear Gilberts name and immediately hang up the phone lol
Also what happens when the mariners hear about a half decent hitter

I agree 100% on the Crochet return… getting Teel as the main piece was dumb from the white Sox.

Roki Sasaki, Gilbert, Kirby, Miller and Woo. Really like the sounds of that rotation. Trade Castillo and use money to sign Christian Walker.

They’re head over heels for Mayo, they’re not trading him. They’d trade Westburg over him 100% but I don’t see either getting moved.

Do you think it’s possible the cardinals package Fedde with Arenado instead of Helsley? I think Fedde+Arenado could be good for the Red Sox as well.
