- Sudan's people are once again living in fear, suffering the consequences of all-out conflict between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
The cause is multi-pronged: Sudan has a troubled history; its diverse population is composed of different ethnicities and societal groups; and it's rich in natural resources.
Are these factors linked to the conflict?

I was very impressed with Waleed Madibo; he highlighted the deep racism within the Sundanese hierarchy
This war is btw two generals it has nothing to do with ethnicity and their is no hierarchy in Sudan when the whole country from east to west, north to south is living under the poverty line

AU needs to be proactive and draft laws. As an Ethiopian, I feel the absence of 'rule of LAW' in defining political systems and all aspects of life is missing in most African countries. Ethnic based conflicts and other power struggles are becoming the only way to get to power. There are no laws on who & how one can get to lead a nation. This opens ways for outsiders to help 'any armed group' so they access resources or get a political alley in the region. Pretty much, any gangster can become a leader. No minimum requirements 😒
You speak of the AU but know nothing of the AU, Sudan was kicked out of the AU in 2020, so the AU has no real power. Also the AU has been infiltrated by the US and the West. The AU has no philosophy and no real ideology, the AU is just a dictators super club

"When two elephants fight, the grass suffers." This is a typical example of the current situation in Khartoum Sudan. The civilians (the grass ) are dying like mosquitoes while the generals are executing their mighty powers, thanks to their external support from foreign countries which have their interest in the country ranging from the fertile Nile River for agricultural products to the vast range of natural resources.
It's actually mainly egypt cause it's afraid of a sudan with an independant foreign policy. Also, sudan has a very racist and xenophobic recent history. Their last dictator enacted policies of arabizing and islamizing sudan. Sudan history is either in civil war or in the brick of civil war.
We hope for a lasting peace deal between the two generals.
@@mubizz80 none are interested in any deals, they both want power and not willing to share and they both broke the previous deal, so they don't trust each other. That's why honor deals culture is so important.

Yup. Both are Arabs. I don't know if this is misinformation or just poor research from Al Jazeera. I'm suspecting the former as this is a quite well known fact. The Mahamid are a sub-tribe of the Reizagat who are also known as the Arabs of Darfur. They are known to have descended from the Al Juhaini tribe in Al-Madinah, Saudi Arabia

Sudanese Arabs have significant Arab DNA; it reaches as high as 50%
2 generals, supposedly representing their people and the country, taking those very things to the dogs. If they are really concerned, they should just fight one-on-one with each other in a duel and resolve their differences. Both the country and the citizens will all be safe and alive that ways.

Whoever tries to look into Sudan's war. The main factor here is ethnicity. As he mentioned, Darfour, South Kordofan, blue Nile and the central Sudan. Therefore way forward; introduction of federal government where by each region will utilize their own resources for development. That will bring long awaited peace to the people of Sudan.
Am surprised that the Man from McGill university talking about the centre and periphery power concentration is strenuously trying to run away from this fact. It's purely ethnic and previous leadership including Bashir have been playing violently ethnic tribal cards to keep power.
The problem in Sudan began with the Arab conquest of the indigenous people of Nile Valley. The Arab's policy of establishing Islamic hegemony and the irreversible Arabisation of Africa is the epicenter of the deliberate devastation through war, oppression and the sadistic exploitation of the innocent African people.
Until the West and other nations contending for supramacy in Africa admit and accept this incontrovertible historical fact there will be no solution to Africa's problems. Tribalism is not the source of Africa's problems. Accept the role of foreign invasion in the destruction of Africa so that we can move forward in resolving Africa's problems.

Get a representative from each ethnic group to join tbe government so that the government would know their problems. This is not easy but these people are citizens of the country do not abandon them
