- Crater Lake is a stunningly beautiful lake, formed in volcano caldera, after the volcano collapsed 7,700 years ago. The lake is deep almost 2000 ft/600 m, it is 5 mi/8 km across its shorter side, a little more on the longer one.
Enjoy views of the lake with its incredible blue color from a boat, from the top of Wizard Island, the Rim Trail and the surrounding peaks - Mt Scott, Garfield Peak and the Watchman.
Recorded August 2016 in 4K (Ultra HD) with Sony AX100.

I live in Oregon and was so happy to get to experience this place in person. It was so blue the day I went. It almost doesn't seem real. It's so interesting to think this crater was once over 3,000ft deep before sediment layers fell in over the years filling the bottom up to now the depth is just over 1000ft..+ there is thermal vent activity on the bottom in some areas scientists went there with a submersible. Their is a amazing floating 45ft tall tree called "the old man" this tree stays perfectly vertical always, and just moves around the lake, never tipping or bobbing or sinking... I love Oregon so much. There is so many natural wonders of nature around here in our state that you can just get lost exploring and even in towns, your not to far away from the woods ever really. It's the best. I'm up north in Benton County area, Crater lake is pretty south. I need to visit again and go down by the water this time. I was with my grandfather last time so I didn't push the hiking.
This is by far the most beautifully shot video of one of the most beautiful places in the United States and, indeed, the world. I'm awestruck. Utterly outstanding work.

3. How can anyone leave a dislike for something as benign as this?
I was there three years ago in July, 2017. There were still patches of ice on the lake and several areas where the fields were still packed with snow. It's an amazing place.
My grandsons' class went there with the same conditions also, not sure what year.
Blessed to have been born and raised in this region. The high lakes of Oregon are special.
Crater lake is the coolest place in Oregon! So many hikes in the park that you can do, it’s awesome!

Thank you for the beautiful video. I was born and raised in Oregon, but I don't think I've ever been to Crater Lake, unless my parents went there when I was too young to remember, they were big on visiting places like that.

I was very fortunate when I visited this place in 1984 at 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning. If that snowed the night before and the entire environment was pure white and it was completely silent

It took me 4 trips to Crater Lake before I ever saw the lake . We camped there and the morning of the 4th of July we woke up to 12 inches of snow ! When I saw it with blue sky it was well worth it !

Once looked down at the lake while the sun was setting. A huge circular black disc. One of the truly awesome things I've witnessed. Black as black can be. Like stareing into the abyss.

first time i knew this lake i was 7 it was on a book i was amazed it is the deepest volcanic lake in the world 594m for a water body inside a crater is an extraordinary natural masterpiece its deep blue color is just the deepest blue color on water surface i ever seen

Been going to CLk annually for over 25 yrs...its a majestic place. Wizard Island is a great hike. Be aware Cleetwood Cove trail is a beast walk uphill. Thoroughly worth the effort.
