The windows can be downloaded from the Microsoft website ( Media Creation Tool from Microsoft ) for a free, you don't need a key to download. But later if you want to Activate the Windows you need a license key.

Thank you bro :D btw if you need to recover some files even after the windows is re-installer then you can try Dr Fone by Wondershare for Windows, personally i'm using this software and it can recover over 90% files without any damage, sometimes even all files are recovered, plus works on large recovering, like 1TB or 2TB disk recover

1.) Can I use an external hard drive instead of a USB?
2.) does the USB have to be empty or can there be some files inside? If so, what will happen to those files?

Hi bro, you need USB and creating Boot USB will erse all data to the USB. However, after creating boot USB you can add other files without problem. And at the partition part I create 2 partitions like C and D, but you can have one partition or if the disk is with larger capacity you can create more partitions

Hi bro, some laptops request manual drivers installing, but in the most of cases the drivers are installing automatically. The drivers you can find on laptop manufactures website

Thank you :) if you want to add more partitions or drives than in the windows manager add how much space you want to be your primary partition, after creating the primary partition than click on NEW and create the secondary partition or add how much space you want to have in the secondary partition

Thank you John :). btw if you have larger disk than you can create more partition because of better functionality. For example: if you have one partition and if something bad is happen ( windows falls/damage from virus or some other harmful software ) than you can lose all data and is harder to backup the files because you don't have access to windows and windows partition.
But if you create 2 partitions ( install windows to one partition and keep your data to the other partition ) and if something happens with windows and windows partition than all your data will be safe to the second/other partition. In this case you can delete the entire windows partition and reinstall the windows without losing your important data.
The second partition could save all your documents, photos, videos, apps, games. Even you can install game and software's on the second partition just create separate folders. Also the second partition could save your money because backup services/stores may charge high price to backup your deleted files.
However, the second/other partition will not affect the windows/computer performances, just for windows partition optimal size is 100-250+ GB

If you're doing things the correct way, yes you need to pay for a product key. Unofficially, MS lets you run W10 indefinitely without activating Windows. It will still work minus not being able to personalize your PC (like changing the wallpaper) and a watermark will appear in the bottom right corner. It won't nag you like other versions of Windows do.
