For what I paid for mine, I'd say I got a great pedal ! I wasn't expecting a do all/ be all device. I just needed a flexible, inexpensive, PORTABLE, decent sounding effects processor. Well, I got more than I was "funkin' for" ! The interface is very simple and it has lovely knobs that you can tweak in real time. There are a lot of modern sounds and a looper function that my old RP-10 doesn't have. An additional expression pedal can be used, as well as the on-board pedal, which can be programmed to trigger different "internal" aspects of the G3X. With the footswitches, you can add or remove an effect from the chain or move up/down through your patches in a SINGLE click. The RP-10 has a 1.5 second lag time when moving from patch to patch. In it's price range, I think the G3X worth every penny. I'm very pleased.
That is what gets me that most of the time demo videos are produced using state-of-the-art gear or old expensive, sought-after sound gear to demo like a pedal or this for instance
Thanks for the way simple and understandable way you put this video together. It was very enjoyable to watch. Your comments were also very helpful to me. Keep up the great work, bro'!
I have some question for a long time, and i think ive found the answer and should post it here.. First of all, g3x doesnt have any blank patches to begin with. A0-J9 theres no blank patches.. And the only way to have a blank patches is: to download zoom edit and share (or something i forgot the name. But its the zoom edit software for it's multieffects). Once you downloaded it, delete all patches you dont need, which in this case, i deleted it all, and build it from scratch.. Zoom g3x have EVERYTHING i need for 150$ (its an opinion, my line6 X3 live is better but more expensive). Theres SO MANY good effects and amps simulator on g3x, but i dont find any of its patches usefull (opinion.. Sorry guys, i'm still learning) so i build it from scratches.. And this is the right pedals.. If you alread bought it, congrats man.. You bought a beast..
Can the Looper work 'without' the 'count-in' and 'rhythm' stuff? - Say, if i was playing live and wanted to create the loop of a 'Bridge' section? Put a different way; can i start the loop at the same instant i punch in.
Hello. I have the G3X zoom pedal and I want to put it through the amplifier's effects loop. It's the first time I do it. The problem is that i don't really understand how the cables should be connected. I have also noticed that the pedal has two outputs R and L/Mono. Which one should I choose?? By the way, I heard that I have to turn off the amp emulations. Do i have to disconnect something else. ?? Greetings
The guitar boss Uhm I bought gx3 some days ago and I found it so true and good. The only one thing I don't like this much is the expression pedal, but the effects are very cool!
EE Gads! Over the past week I took all my name brand pedals & tweaked them to my liking. Reverb, delay, OD, compressor tuner, fuzz, everything. I then used the Zoom & tried to dial in the exact sound. I was very successful (flat out nailed it) with my OD, reverb & delay. Not quite as successful with the compressor & boost but not bad either. Of course a tuner is a tuner more or less. This next week I'm going to try to dial in my Empress Multi drive & have the Zoom match. While I love the Zoom I think this is a bit of a challenge for it. We'll see. If I am able to nail it, well (ouch,) it will be almost $700 worth of pedals vs. the Zoom at 199 for the Gx3.
I'm thinking on buying the new zoom g5n or the g3xn. Since I already like my currently amp tone (Ibanez TSA15) I wonder if I can use the processor just as a substitute of a bunch of single effects pedals. May I turn all the amp and cabs emulations off? Thanks in advanced. Nice playing as usual.
Great video! Thanks a lot man! By the way I saw that in your video you are using the Vox pathfinder 15r... How does the amp go with the G3x?? I am planning to get a pathfinder 15r myself to go with my G1xon..?
Mithun Anil The VOX goes very well with pedals because it is not a modelling amp, it's basically your old style circuits, resistors, capacitors type amp. I don't think VOX makes this exact model anymore. The G3X is essentially a pedal with modelling abilities so it sounds best with a tube amp or a straight solid state amp.
jAMMAN798 Thanks for the reply! :) I am getting a second hand one from a friend... heard they were nice clean amps .I wanted a solid state amp just for practice with my processor so I guess pathfinder 15 or pathfinder 10 (which is available on amazon) is the better choice.....
Mithun Anil I use the newer Pathfinder bass amp. 10 watts??? Anyway, I use it with the G3 for home doing jazz mostly clean work with some ambient stuff reverb a bit of chorus & WOW! It sure sounds good. A hollow body going through a small bass amp has its merits. G3 adds a little extra tone.
Hi jAMMAN798, I noticed in your G3X display, the central display seems to be a bit dimmer than the other two. I recently noticed that on mine too, its a year old now. Is this normal? Or is it some glitch? Please do help, I would really appreciate it. Been trying to contact zoom but its of no use. My central display is slightly dimmer than the other two and I want to know if its normal.
Hey man, I have a bit of a long question, and would be most grateful if you could answer it. So... on page 18 of the Zoom G3X manual, it explains (not very clearly) how 'To set an expression pedal function'. It says press 'Page' on the 'middle' effect, and turn knob '1' of the 'right' effect. It then says 'Parameters that can be assigned to the expression pedal are shown on the right display'. However, this doesn't seem to work for me. All that happens is, when I turn knob '1' on the 'right' effect, it adjusts the parameters of the 'right' effect. Am I missing something? Cheers.
Can not see - what are name of these beautiful initial chords (1: 25-1: 46)? Your game reminds me a bit of playing of Robert Schroeder (Double Fantasy) from the album "Universal Avenue". Thank you in advance for your reply.
Maciej Gołąbek Thank you. The chords I'm playing are an F and a G bar chord at the first and 3rd fret... except I only use 3 fingers and only play the bottom 4 strings and I also leave the high "E" string open the whole time. So put 1 finger on the B string (1st fret), one finger on the G string (2nd fret) and one finger on the D string (3rd fret) and strum the bottom 4 strings. Now slide all 3 fingers up to the 3rd fret so that you have one finger on the B string (3rd fret), one on the G string 4th fret) and one on the D string (5th fret). Also, when I begin to strum the chords I'm still playing an F and G chord, except higher up the neck at the 8th and 9th fret and I continue to leave the high E string open. The only other chord added is an A minor at the very end just before the phrase repeats itself.
Nice review, but is this pedal transparent ? I mean does it change the sound of the amp ? If I use it only to reunite effects such as tremolo, flanger and delay into a unique pedal after other pedals (wah, compressor, overdive/distortion), would this do the job ?
Nathanaël Pfau The pedal has a pre-amp in it, which is different than a true by-pass pedal. I didn't notice any big difference in the amps tone when I had the effects turned off. The modulation effects in the pedal are very good, so delay, phaser, chorus, tremolo, flanger, etc all sound nice.
Can't say much about the ST but I have the Tone Lab LE & a Zoom G3. G3 is far simpler to use. Vox has some great tones but you have to tweak the parameters to get the sound. I am pleased with the G3 & am thinking about the g3x or the G5 to replace the LE. Sounds in the G3 are better at least on the Fender side of things IMO.
Amazing video. Could you please tell me frankly how is the wah wah on this pedal? Is it as good as dunlop crybaby? I mean can it do justice to songs like sweet child of mine etc? Also, should I go for a modelling amp or a simple amp with zoom g3x? Thanks !!
Kartikeya Singh Hi and thanks. The wah on the G3X is pretty good because the sound is adjustable. A wah is very easy for digital devices to copy, so it would work fine for most music styles. The G3X is all digital which means the sound you hear is being modelled already (a modelling amp would have similar features), so such devices work better with solid state analog amps or tube/valve amps. It will still work find with a modelling amp, but you may not require many of the features in the G3X if they are already present in the modelling amp.
jAMMAN798 thanks a lot! i am looking at zoom g1xon pedal.........how might the wah-wah be on that pedal? i hope the effects and sounds are same as g3x? which one would you recommend me? i don't mind the plastic, less buttons etc..........just the sound quality/effects should be same as g3x/g5!!!
How it works in live situations? For Ex. I want to use the 3 switches to have an effect combination en each one, like overdrive and delay in switch 1, flanger and reverb in switch 2, and overdrive with reverb in switch 3...In live situation y want to go easily to one of three combinations...Can I do this? that´s the part that no one explain....or with my poor english, I don´t understand, sorry, ha....Thanks
+CarlosCaster I'm not 100% sure as I don't have the pedal anymore. I recall you could set up 6 effects with all types of settings and place them in a bank. So you would then just do as you said and then move up or down in the bank.
The other guitar player in my band uses one and imo it really doesn't work well for live use. There's just too many variables and you end up getting lost with a bunch of unusable sounds. It also doesn't cut through the mix at all. It sounds alright on it's own but when there's a drum involved it gets lost.
Maciej Gołąbek The G1ON has some of the same sounds & features as the G3X, so there wouldn't be much to compare. The main difference between the two is that the G1ON has less buttons, display, tones, options, and is made out of plastic vice metal. Most of the sounds it produces are similar to the G3X.
Maciej Gołąbek G1ON uses ZFX-IV DSP Chip therefore has more EFFECTS. It's comparable to the G5 less the 12ax7 valve : ) I just wish they added "Octave Fuzz" to it and I'd give it a perfect score : )
It's the most transparent pedal I've ever owned. Doesn't color the sound of a guitar amplifier. I hate when pedals kill off my natural amp tone and this one definitely does not - it's dead quiet and the effects will blow your mind -- they sound so analog . You'll love it.
Hey I've been playing guitar for about half a year so I don't really know much a bout multi-effects pedals like this. Would you be able to use the expression pedal on the side for wah?
Can the expression pedal effect any of the active patches? For example, in the same way he brings in the overdrive with the expression pedal, could the expression pedal also be set to gradually ramp up the mix on a delay or a reverb patch?
Is it possible to use the expression pedal as a volume pedal? How do you switch it on? how do you switch the wah on?..Sorry not to computer or gear savy..just a rookie player
Michael Mannino Yes, the expression pedal can be used as a volume pedal. You switch it on within the settings for the guitar effect or amp model you will be using, this is also true for the wah. In the video I configured the expression pedal to work with the gain setting on one of the modelling amps used. Think of it this way… Say you were playing guitar on stage with a nice amp. Suddenly you wanted to turn the volume of the amp up or down, or you wanted to turn the amps distortion gain up or down, you would walk over and do this with your hands. Since the amp models are in the G3X, as well as the effects, the expression pedal takes the place of your hand. If you connect the expression pedal to an amp within the pedal, you can connect it to the volume or gain or something else. The same is true if you connect it to a guitar effect within the pedal. It is all down within the settings menu for the applicable pedal or amp.
Amazing video, you've made me the product and I'm doing all fine with it. However there're some issues I'm having with the wah pedal. Distortion control like you did, volume control, or the pedal david gilmour uses in 2005 live concert for shine on you crazy diamond. I cant seem to understand how to get those effect out of this. Any recommendations? Thanks already.
Glad to hear the video was of help. Gilmour uses plenty of modulation so play with reverbs, delays, etc. To assign the expression pedal to any effect you must first select the TOTAL button, then PAGE button (the one directly below the TOTAL button), then on your 3rd display screen look at the word PDL, turn knob #1 until you find your effect you want to use with the expression pedal (i.e., in my case it was DST:Z NEOS). Next keep turning knob #1 to assign which part of that effect you wish to control. In my case it was the GAIN.
Chris Thieblot they are already the best for sound and for money than any other brand. . but we cannot compare it to Roland GR-55 because different to each other. .
Anthony Abbatangeli Please note that I no longer have this pedal in my collection so I'm doing this from a foggy memory. If an effect has been bypassed it may be because the other effects in use are taking up too much memory, so either change one of the existing effects, or press the TYPE up and down buttons.. You can edit previously added patches by adjusting their parameters. You can't delete an effect but I think you can delete a patch... not 100% sure. However, you can restore the unit to factory settings which will wipe everything back to normal.
jAMMAN798 How can you say its coming from both? Since going infront of an amp means setting the global output to combo front, then using PA/Mixer is setting the global output to Direct? Confusing. LOL
Daniel Forto I believe it is coming from both. I don't own the Zoom G3X anymore, but I'm pretty sure when I recorded the demo that I had the XLR going to a mixing board and the SM57 mic also going to the same mixing board. It's been awhile since I recorded it, so I'm just going from memory.
if I use additional stompbox pedals together with this and use the g3x as an interface, will the additional pedals be included in the signal of the interface to the computer?? XD help pls
Akash Prasad You get more with the G3X. It all depends on what you wish to use it for. If you have no use for the extra features the G3X offers, then go for the least expensive one.
Akash Prasad The Boss does have some great tones you can down load from their Tone Central site. You can go there without buying & listen to them. All are done by some very good pro's. That said, I came close to buying the Boss 25 but moved up to the ME 80 as it is more intuitive. I have the G3 too though & quite frankly it is just so easy to work with I can't part with it. I use it for recording direct into my DAW, sometimes through an amp. I don't mess with the patches as I have a pretty set batch of pedals & amps I work with. Plus it has an auto memory function so it can save what ever you last did. So I just have 6 pedals set in the windows (even though you can only see 3 at a time) & if I want to do something different it is a quick change. So,, short story long I agree with Akash especially if you go for the G3x over just the g3.
For what I paid for mine, I'd say I got a great pedal ! I wasn't expecting a do all/ be all device. I just needed a flexible, inexpensive, PORTABLE, decent sounding effects processor. In it's price range, I think the G3X worth every penny. I'm very pleased.
What a beautiful tune. I could listen to that for hours.

Nice product demo but what really got me was your playing...pierced me right thru the heart! In a good way. Outstanding!
+stratplayer2 Thanks brother, I appreciate the comment.
True
So you can have three sounds all at the same time, the drums, the Rhythm guitar and your lead, nice! Good for busking
Thanks for the way simple and understandable way you put this video together. It was very enjoyable to watch. Your comments were also very helpful to me. Keep up the great work, bro'!
Duff Rowden Thanks my good man.
Fantastic video. To the point with great playing! Well done Good Sir!
Thank you!
Have had mine for a year..Absolutely love it. Well priced too for all you get.
I've been missing out on alot of Zoom products over the years

Awesome demo! I got myself a G1on because I didn't have the cash for this, but even that can put out some great sounds. Plus, the looper is a godsend.
Ryan86me Zoom products are well priced, durable, dependable, and actually sound half decent, so you can't go wrong with the G1ON.
I would recommend cheap but very good Zoom G1on.
I had that same guitar (in black), got one because Santana was endorsing them at the time. Wish I still had it.
ce multi fx est génial! j'ai aussi redécouvert le model g5 grace à une vidéo de Younès Grandjean.
Oue, c'est tres bon.
Wonderful, thank you for showing the drums im very impressed and you play it very nicely !
phalgun rao Hey, thanks man, appreciate that.
Man this is the best video for the Zoom G3X I've seen. Zoom should just pay you man hahah
moesix Hey thanks brother, love the praise!
Insanely well produced demo. Love the editing.
Thank you!
Sounded great it's because your playing sounded great lol!
Great demo and great playing.thankyou.
Can the Looper work 'without' the 'count-in' and 'rhythm' stuff? - Say, if i was playing live and wanted to create the loop of a 'Bridge' section? Put a different way; can i start the loop at the same instant i punch in.
Excellent video...! Now I want this pedal.... Excellent playing
Superb demo.
Wow very nice guitar song
Amazing zoom
Beautiful guitar!
Piata Gurgel Thanks! I've been a fan of the old Yamaha SGs for a long time.
Great demo, I was saving up for a pedal and your video has convinced me for buy this!
try G5. .
Hello. I have the G3X zoom pedal and I want to put it through the amplifier's effects loop. It's the first time I do it. I was about to buy this Zoom and as I saw your video,I noticed you got the same Vox Amplifier that I got too. I just love you, mate. Ahahahahhaha
+Flowers Cinder Thanks mate.
+jAMMAN798 do you think i should get this is the g5
The guitar boss Uhm I bought gx3 some days ago and I found it so true and good. The only one thing I don't like this much is the expression pedal, but the effects are very cool!
Thankyou now i can set them, by the way how to record your live guitar?
nice play
Man this song rocks!
+Johnny Good Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
very nice i'll go for it
Many thxxx for the demo !!
+maxashtar You're welcome my friend!
I do wish the amps & effects were numbered or grouped together so would know if I needed to scroll up or down.

Sorry for late reply. You can turn pretty much any effect on or off or set it to just how you like it.
Really really helpful video review. Concise, informative, and SICK licks! Subscribed.
+Benjamin Estrada Cruz Great! Thanks for watching & commenting.
Superb

greatvanzinni Not a tube one at all though.
Good demo!
Does it have a headphone jack input somewhere?? I could not see it in your video, imagine of back side of this effect. Thanks, Jessie
It certainly does
Thanks for the demo, very helpful in understanding procedures
Nice playing, and a cool green guitar. I am confused between the G3x and the newly launched boss me80 could you help me choose between the two?
pradeep kumar Sorry, I have not tried the Boss me80. I would just compare the features between the two and pick the one with the features you need.
Thank you for your demo. Please could you tell me how many time is there for the loop time ?
Sounds beautiful. Great demo, too
great demo and yes, superb music , blown away actually , wow
Que hermoso se escucha .y se podrá usar ese pedal en cumbia ?.
Hey man,
I have a bit of a long question, and would be most grateful if you could answer it.
So... on page 18 of the Zoom G3X manual, it explains (not very clearly) how 'To set an expression pedal function'.
Cheers.
Stephen Hall Yeah, the manual is pretty poor. It should have told you to press the "TOTAL" button first. Good luck.
Cheers mate. Much appreciated.
Excellent!!!
Great video! How many tracks is available to record? just one?
One track, but you can record many overdubs. Unfortunately, you can't save it on the device. As soon as you power it off, it's gone.
jAMMAN798 you're right, same on G5. .
Sweet! Love it! Great Demo man!
Great presentation!
Maciej Gołąbek Thank you.

The only other chord added is an A minor at the very end just before the phrase repeats itself.
jAMMAN798 Wow! Many thanks for such a extensive and thorough explanation!
I cordially greet.
Awesome Demo! Love the tones. What pick-ups are on the guitar?
bagus Haidar suka , tapi kapan belinya ya .....
Hey, I got the same pedal some months ago and I'm loving it. Although, I find the tuner very twitchy. What about you?
You can change the tuner settings. Also, it depends on the guitar (the bridge has plenty to do with it).
Wow beautiful gutares 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Nice review, but is this pedal transparent ?

Tango Alpha I reccomend u to buy zoom G3x
G3x or better the G5. .
Thx man, this is great demo. Very helpful
Satria PG Thanks for commenting.
Dude u have some sick guitars
Thanks, been playing for awhile & have collected a few over the years.

I LOVE mine !!
hey man, I am going to buy this unit, but can you name the reverbs it has cos they are not on the zoom website and thanks for the demo
Vibhor Rai The Reverbs are: HD Reverb, Hall, Room, TiledRoom, Spring, Arena, EarlyRef, Air. You can adjust the settings for each type.
jAMMAN798 thanx.:)
Vibhor Rai press the download
hello friend did you use which amp simulation?
How can I make my own effects and like have them in a place I can use whenever I want
Can I to count on a comparison with the Zoom G1ON?
Maciej Gołąbek The G1ON has some of the same sounds & features as the G3X, so there wouldn't be much to compare. The main difference between the two is that the G1ON has less buttons, display, tones, options, and is made out of plastic vice metal. Most of the sounds it produces are similar to the G3X.

Thank you for the explanation.
It costs approx. 40% of the GX3, so to play for the amateur home will be ok.,I think.
Maciej Gołąbek G1ON uses ZFX-IV DSP Chip therefore has more EFFECTS. It's comparable to the G5 less the 12ax7 valve : ) I just wish they added "Octave Fuzz" to it and I'd give it a perfect score : )
aLinux TV Thanks - is good that I ordered it:-)
It's the most transparent pedal I've ever owned. Doesn't color the sound of a guitar amplifier. I hate when pedals kill off my natural amp tone and this one definitely does not - it's dead quiet and the effects will blow your mind -- they sound so analog . You'll love it.
did you use a speaker cable or and instrument cable to connect it to the guitar amp?
Blake Mullens I used an instrument cable.
thanks
Hey I've been playing guitar for about half a year so I don't really know much a bout multi-effects pedals like this. Would you be able to use the expression pedal on the side for wah?
Yup
Can the expression pedal effect any of the active patches? For example, in the same way he brings in the overdrive with the expression pedal, could the expression pedal also be set to gradually ramp up the mix on a delay or a reverb patch?
It can assign to any of several parameters.
My only real problem with it is that you cannot switch between Wa and volume in the expression pedal 😯
Top vou comprar minha pedaleira zoom G3X
It is all down within the settings menu for the applicable pedal or amp.
how does it go running through the effects loop for time and pitch based effects?
Sorry for the late response, but it works fine using it via the effects loop on your amp.
@jAMMAN798 Dude, how do I stop this looper count before I start recording?
Cant stop listening
Omarovic93 Thank you!
Sounds nice. Loved that tune, is it yours?
Muito bom o vídeo
Thank you! Obrigado.
The best multi effects..
3 switch = 3 efects. Example 1=Overdrive, 2=delay, 3=chorus ???
3 switch = 6 efects. Scrolling to side simultaneosly Switch 1+2 = To Left , and 2+3= To Right in each Bank
Sometimes I use the bass version. Great value for the money.
would something expensive be better? I'm looking for almost pro level effects. Is this pedal not good enough?
Chris Thieblot
It's really good for the price.
I don't know... honestly.
Chris Thieblot they are already the best for sound and for money than any other brand. . but we cannot compare it to Roland GR-55 because different to each other. .
nice
1. How do you activate an effect that is being bypassed on this unit ?
2. Can I delete patches that were put in by a previous owner of this unit ?
Anthony Abbatangeli Please note that I no longer have this pedal in my collection so I'm doing this from a foggy memory. If an effect has been bypassed it may be because the other effects in use are taking up too much memory, so either change one of the existing effects, or press the TYPE up and down buttons.. You can edit previously added patches by adjusting their parameters. You can't delete an effect but I think you can delete a patch... not 100% sure. However, you can restore the unit to factory settings which will wipe everything back to normal.
Nice video editing chops
kd350 Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.
Is the sound coming from the mic or the balanced output?
Ax Shred It's coming from both.
jAMMAN798 How can you say its coming from both? Since going infront of an amp means setting the global output to combo front, then using PA/Mixer is setting the global output to Direct? Confusing. LOL
Daniel Forto I believe it is coming from both. I don't own the Zoom G3X anymore, but I'm pretty sure when I recorded the demo that I had the XLR going to a mixing board and the SM57 mic also going to the same mixing board. It's been awhile since I recorded it, so I'm just going from memory.
what the different between g3x n g3xn?
if I use additional stompbox pedals together with this and use the g3x as an interface, will the additional pedals be included in the signal of the interface to the computer?? XD help pls
if they are between guitar and g3x, they should be.
with that pedal board i can save effecs in each one of that bottons? (presets)
Yes.
jAMMAN798 How?
Finally saw the headphone jack, L-mono input I believe... :-)
SG1500.. Same as mine! x
what would I use to get a punk rock tone for my blink 182 covers
Josh Martinez boss ds-1 distortion pedal
This is a late entry but this thing will mosh and crush any metal turns you might want and then some 🌛
Would you suggest this piece over BOSS ME-25??
So,, short story long I agree with Akash especially if you go for the G3x over just the g3.
greatvanzinni Wait,,,, Who's on first? I meant Jamman of course.
Is there a Zoom G3n coming out
liking for that shot of your shoes
Hey, you're the first to comment on my shoes! Thanks :)
