Thank you Bill, I love that! I woke yesterday being down, but got busy. Then, I didn't start out to make a video, was just playing around. Four years ago, I started making the plant imaging and measuring machines, idealistically thinking they could help with food production. That has not happened, but the skills gained in the process are useful for other problems. Now, just need to find a purpose, easy-peasy :)
Random fact that land speed record Carbonite car crashed this year The owner had some bad injuries but lived He has a long road ahead of him but Rob is improving everyday
Hi Travis, thank you for telling us. Rob talked with my dad and me for well over a half hour. He didn't need to do that, we're not customers, but he lit up when talking about racing. I didn't know about the crash, but had missed Rob's posts on LinkedIn. His name would frequently pop up in the feed, with a thoughtful congratulation on someone's accomplishment. I read through the Carbinite LSR FB page this morning. Again, thank you.
Very cool stuff.......i was wondering if you could recommend any literature for a guy who would like to learn about cnc but knows almost nothing....... i would like to build a plasma / router table like Jeremy felding is doing.......your obviously very intelligent and I enjoy your videos even though I don't understand alot of it
Jeremy does an awesome job! When he was starting out, he made a video about being down about the haters and talked about quitting. Sure glad he didn't, he teaches and inspires many. TH-cam is a great resource for ideas. I often start there, organizing what I find and piecing together the ideas that I like and can do, especially if I add to them with my skills. I also like books. Something like CNC Trade Secrets (immediately useful) are CNC Programming Handbook (more in depth.) My first CNC was an Industrial Hobbies mill, and the second was an old Makerbot kit from the time where Makerbots were kits. The first was probably too big for me to have started with, and I came close to loosing a finger tip. If starting from scratch, have you considered an inexpensive CNC router as a learner? Some are ~$200! Take it apart, put it back together, upgrade a few things. Lot of people upgrading them so there is a ton of material out there. Also, CNC Zone and Practical Machinist. Pretty broad answer. I hope something here is useful. Glad to help with specific questions if I have experience.
@@kentvandervelden very usefull thanks......I'll look into cnc trade secrets and I spend alot of time on practic machinist......its just difficult to know where to start when it seems like everyone knows more than you haha.....thanks
@@kentvandervelden I hope somone in the future does a more detailed cnc build I get pieces from you and this old Tony and Jeremy but there's alot of gaps.......i know I could figure it out that way I just completed my first large machining project in this way thanks to Phil vandelay www.reddit.com/r/knifemaking/comments/iqh7z6/almost_done/?
Drop me an email with what is missing. I've been thinking of completely disassembling my mill to show the assembly process. Maybe there's some overlap?
very nice Kent
Thank you Stephan
That is quite a tour! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Very glad to have made the original TH-cam videos. Uplifting to see what has been done :)
Inspiring, thank you.
Hello Kent, these are impressive video snippets about your broad set of activities and achievements. Very good content! Stefan.
Thank you Stefan! Through the fall and winter, I'll spend more time on projects and videos, to get better at presenting. Best wishes, Kent
Great stuff! Put this in the cookie jar, and when you're feeling down pull it out and chomp on it. This should make you proud.
