Probably better off using thin thermal pads or thermal paste and using a heatsink across those two chips. Then add a little airflow maybe stick a small fan in there.

Of course! That was just an experiment...which turns definitively! I sold it in the meantime and the owner still using it like that, with great results.

Sorry to burst your bubble but heat pads don't work that way. You were better of putting a real heat sink with some thermal paste. Some microchips are ok working at high temperatures. But adding a small fan would be a better solution. With all those thermal pads stacked up you are blocking free air circulation to cool off other components.

Thanks! There was no bubble..just an experiment.I sad '' I have no heat sink for now ''! And it's very possible those chips are designed to run at high temperature..so far so good.I don't want a fan, to noisy even at low pad. With the pads on can't say better or worst , I use the oscilloscope occasionally though.

Of course, it's already in place

With that many thermal pads stacked up, you're actually INSULATING the chips and not HEAT SINKING them.

      Thanks! Nice to know.

Lol, good idea, just not effective enough based on my testing.
I tried it with a different method once with such a design.
I drilled one or more holes at the top of the chip, it depends on the size of the chip and the size of the screw.
I let the screws pass through the holes, so that the head of the screw faces the chip.
Naturally, I ground the top of the screw smooth.
I pulled the upper plate together with larger washers and between two nuts.
It is not a problem if the screw is longer and extends beyond the plate.
I put a thinner thermal pad on the chip than yours, if I had a copper plate as big as the chip and it was thick enough, I would have simply used thermal paste between the chip and the copper plate, copper plate and the screw.

Just experimenting...In the meantime I sold it and it's still in the same shape...the actual owner it;s happy like that.

How not to use thermal pads lol.

      Right! Lots of..just experimenting 😁

I'm not sure, my son it's DJ and he makes all kind of jingles and stuffs like that..so I can't say...probably some grooves. Look here th-cam.com/video/2FPPuvhl5wU/w-d-xo.html

More heat dissipation can never be wrong.
Do you have any experience with such thick layers of thermal pad? Is the heat transmitted to the metalic case?

Yep, I use it in many projects..but never so thick.. Probably will work

Dear friend, how was the summer? Here in Spain very hot. I keep watching all his videos, but I can't find out what he says since I understand that he has forgotten to mark the subtitles. Greetings and good summer to all.

Holla Pepe! Hot here too! But nice. I'm sorry but YouTUbe should provide automatic translation in Spanish..check the settings..it should work! ¡Hola Pepe! Caliente aquí también! buena bebida Lo siento, pero TH-cam debería proporcionar traducción automática al español... compruebe la configuración... ¡debería funcionar!

Of course, I was testing the things. Meanwhile I sold it and the owner still use it like that.No complaints.
