This is my second vid of yours...I love the sick plugs and I love the facts combined with the amazing impersonations. Seriously, very funny, entertaining and informative. Thanks!
I grew up in Williamsburg before and after it became cool. My first hair salon was right in the thick of things. Bedford Ave & North 6. It's to cool now.
I used to live on Fillmore Place. Henry Miller wrote about the street in "The Tropic of Capricorn" saying "“[it was] the most enchanting street I have ever seen in all my life. It was the ideal street-for a boy, a lover, a maniac, a drunkard, a crook, a lecher, a thug, an astronomer, a musician, a poet, a tailor, a shoemaker, a politician.” I would have tour guides wake me up in the morning talking about the street outside my window.
Born and raised in Williamsburg. 3rd generation. I resided across the street from Eli Whitney. I have so many memories with my family and friends. The irony is, when the wannabes start asking you where you're from and how long have you been there, because they've never seen you before. It becomes undesirable to go back. Even to visit my Mom who's lived in the same walk up, railroad apartment for 40 years. The dick building in downtown Brooklyn is One Hanson Place. Got my braces done there. Great video.
My mom's friend lived on one of the numbered South Streets. One of her neighbors was a boy known as "Crazy Melvin". Most people know him as Mel Brooks.
I was born and raised in Greenpoint and I lived in Williamsburg for awhile when I got married. Tom, I really enjoyed this video on Williamsburg. I learned a lot. I am looking forward to seeing your other videos! Kudos!
As a New Yorker born in Wyckoff Heights hospital in "58" your videos hit the mark. I lived in Colorado since "94". It's great to have memories of where I came from. Thanks.
My mom always called the Williamsburg Bridge, the Delancey Street Bridge. I've always wondered if that was what LES residents called it. My grandmother settled in the LES when she first emigrated from Eastern Europe.
Thanks for doing these videos. I always wanted to visit New York, sadly I don't think i'll ever make it there. Thank you for these tours and all the cool ass history you share.
I lived in Williamsburg in the early 90s-before it was cool-at 798 Driggs, right next to Peter Luger's. I often intone that Henry Miller line: "No saint ever walked there," while walking in Brooklyn-a.k.a. Breukelen or "the broken land."
Love your Bon Impression. You are funny. Williamsburg is very beautiful as far as you showed all the areas. I still wouldn't live in New York. But I would love to visit all the different Burroughs. Thanks again
Hi : Tom Last time you made a video of Astoria , Queens , & now Williamsburg in Brooklyn , that I left to move to Astoria. Thanks, once again I enjoy the history of each Borrow.
I live minutes from the Roebling Bridge and I knew Roebling designed the Brooklyn Bridge but didn't know there's a Roebling St in Williamsburg(h). Can't wait to swing through there when I'm in town next week. Thanks Tom!
I love Willamsburg, Brooklyn. They have a pretty good Pizza shop in that area too, Italian pizza. Real Pizza lol. And it stays open late, I think it closes around 1am
Great video again Tom, thanks for telling the facts about the Bloomberg rezoning. As someone. born and raised in Brooklyn, I could go on and on about what's happened but you did a good Summary. And thanks also for mentioning Havermeyer and Domino .. ummm .. now where did that Sugar Cane come from and WHO harvested it? Havermeyer btw, I'm sure you know was a former Mayor of NYC. Rock On!
After watching this video. I would love to take a tour of Williamsburg with you guy's. I enjoy your humor and insights. I mostly just want walk and laugh along with you all.
Great video, great historian and fun presentation. Please keep in mind that Bob Dole held his hand that way because of being wounded while serving his country. He lived with that disability, his whole life, which is why he held a pen in public to deflect the hand weakness. This is the man who has helped out of his wheelchair, not being able to stand without being held up, so that he could salute a U.S. president lying in state. Respect please.
I love the special effects in your videos. Do you use a greenscreen to make it look as though you are in all the different parts of NYC that you are discussing? It looks very real.
Hey ! Love Your Videos. While You were Making the Kew Gardens Video. I Actually had the Pleasure of Meeting You. Crazy Coincidence. Did You Know that Rodney Dangerfield Actually Grew Up in the Apartments Above the Austin Ale House. The same Entrance Vestibule where the Young Lady was Stabbed to Death. I Grew up in the Lower East Side in the 70's if You Need any info. I Grew Up on Rutgers Street. And went to school at PS137. Which now goes by another name. Did you know that there was a Bus Depot on Cherry Street and Rutgers Street. (Green Line Bus) Before MTA Bus was Formed.
I really dig the content. Would you fancy some historical tours in Cambridge, UK? We got a tree famous for his falling apples, and a pub called the green dragon that gave its name to one hobbity pub in middle earth
As a Puerto Rican thanks for not cutting us out of History.
You're so right.
We cut our selves out
Puerto Ricans first latinos in nyc 🇵🇷
I know right... we don't even make it onto Star Trek... no USS Arecibo nor any Boricua starship captains. 😅 Still hoping, though.
Every time Tom posts a new video, my heart skips a beat!

This is amazing. The amount of facts here is mind blowing. Toms a legend.
It's so dope to see Puerto Ricans mentioned in a video about Williamsburg. So many bloggers on TH-cam marginalize that part.
In Bushwick There's A street Ave of Puerto Rico, which I Believe there trying to Remove unbelievable trying to white wash the history if you ask Me.
I grew up in Williamsburg before and after it became cool. My first hair salon was right in the thick of things. Bedford Ave & North 6. It's to cool now.

My mom always called the Williamsburg Bridge, the Delancey Street Bridge. I've always wondered if that was what LES residents called it. My grandmother settled in the LES when she first emigrated from Eastern Europe.
I call it that in my head when I visit, even staying on the wburg side. Makes sense as an extension of the street!
You're so awkwardly funny, I love it! Keep the videos coming
Thanks for doing these videos. I always wanted to visit New York, sadly I don't think i'll ever make it there. Thank you for these tours and all the cool ass history you share.

My grandfather owned a Candy Manufacturing company on Whyte and 4th. Now the Wythe Confectionery.
Even longer ago I worked at a carpentry shop that built sets down on S 5th and Driggs right underneath the bridge (2003/4?) Damn almost 20 years ago.

Lol Eric’s cinematography is just that good friend
luv the artist rendering :)
The Bob Dole impersonations killed me!!! 😅🤣😂
Could you do one on the major hospitals of nyc? Bellevue, etc.
also could you do about Penn station and grand central
Like Kings County, St Catherine's, Greenpoint hospitals, etc?

We got a tree famous for his falling apples, and a pub called the green dragon that gave its name to one hobbity pub in middle earth
Love the UK, needs more walking tours
Domino Park shot, even funnier that you never made any reference to it at all.
Your videos romanticize New York for me (in a good way), even though I live here. Love your style
Hey Tom, what about some merch? I'd love some sick plug or some nyc history related shirts
When are you coming to East New York it is a great neighborhood??
