How come everything you play sounds great. You can take the simplest groove and it always just sounds right. I feel like I can play the same thing and it just sounds Vanilla.
Thanks, it would actually make an interesting video wouldn't it - what makes a simple groove sound really good? Will add that to the list. I've always felt that musician's ask themselves two questions... 1) What am I playing? and 2) How am I playing it? Number two is the most important one by far and makes music mean something to the listener IMO. But of course we need to answer the first one first. Thanks for watching.
An interesting video to beginners would be one that explains the function of each drums kit part, for instance, what is the role of the bass drum, the snare, the hi-hat, the timbal, the crash (variants) and ride. Why and when they should be used. What are their roles? In what ways should each part contribute to establish solid drums beds?! The understanding of such basic elements is the beginning of it all and I don't remember seeing any video on TH-cam talking clearly about these subjects. I'm not sure if you already have such videos, if not, maybe something to consider? Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Stay safe.

Hey Mike! With all this Christmas music going on everywhere at the moment, so much of it has Swing and triplet feel, and I find I can get the groove, but the fills really trip me up for some reason. "All I Want for Christmas is You" is one I've been playing with, which is a pretty fast swing tempo for me. Maybe you could do a lesson about triplet fills, swing fills, how to get my sticks from getting crossed up and ending badly, etc. This might also apply to Fool in the Rain and other shuffles where my normal 8th and 16th note fills and stickings don't seem to work. Hope you have a great holiday!
